  1. Gail, I am so sorry you are faced with breaking this news to your Dad. I don't think I ever used the word "Hospice" to Dennis. Like your Dad, he was suffering from bouts of confusion and I'm not sure just how much of what I said that he understood. I just told him that these were nurses (true) that were coming in to give me a hand with his care. I also told him that they would be able to give him meds to help control his pain. He seemed to accept this without any questions. I'm remembering you adn your Dad in my prayers. I know that Hospice will prove to be a big help for your Dad.
  2. Great news, Lisa. I hope you and your Dad are celebrating and kicking up your heels!
  3. Great post, Kelly. There are so many little things that mean so much. I know that we can often overlook just how very important these things mean. Dennis always loved to go fishing. I can't tell you how many days we spent fishing after he was diagnosed. The two of us would spend the entire day in the boat, doing more talking than fish catching. Although that was a little thing to do, it was so important to him. It was something he loved to do and was still able to do. I think it made him feel "normal" again. I wouldn't take a million dollars for the memories that we made on that river!
  4. Kim...it sounds as if you are doing a great job helping to make decisions for your mother. From reading posts on this board for years, it seems fairly common for parents to want their childrens involvement in making health care decisions. I suppose when you have all this coming right at you, it helps to know you have great children to depend on. Regardless, it sounds like you're doing a great job. So sorry about your mom losing some hair. I know what a hard blow that must have been for her. You took the perfect approach by talking about what color it would be when it grows back! You know, your mom is really lucky to have you!!!
  5. Since it's almost time for school to start (at least here in Florida), I thought we should think back to our school days. What do you remember about your very first day of school? I will really have to put on my thinking cap to try and remember this far back.
  6. Of course, LEAVE THE DEAL. No biggie that it was already posted. I was only responding to Ginny's question. This isn't a problem.....I'm glad you posted it again for all the members that might have missed it the first time around. BTW...I was in Walgreens yesterday and saw that there is a new Deal or No Deal game out now. It has its own little silver suitcase that holds all of the cards. I think I'm going to have to spend the $9.99 and get it.
  7. Yes, Ginny. I posted it quite some time ago, just after the show first came on.
  8. Isn't that fun, Connie? I've been visiting that site and playing the game for months. I am so hooked on that show and just can't wait for the new season so I can watch! Thanks so much for posting the link, as I'm sure there are many folks here that will enjoy it as much as we do!
  9. Ginny...I'll be happy to share anything that I know about Ebay with you!!!
  10. I have both bought and sold on Ebay. everything I have sold has been small items....crafts, books..etc. I think I have definitely bought more than I have sold...lol! I have found some very good deals this way. Only once have I been burned when I was buying something. Firtunately, it wasn't a great amount of money and I paid by PayPal and was refunded my money very quickly. I definitely want to sell more on Ebay, if possible. Katie...You go girl!!! A Power Seller!!! Do you and Rick have an Ebay store? Do you think we could somehow donate some things to be sold for LCSC????
  11. Welcome to the board. This is a very good place to be for support, friendship and information.
  12. Have you ever bought or sold anything on Ebay or any online auction? Tell us about what you sold or bought. Were you satisfied with your transaction?
  13. Well...I see lots of people read this question but chose not to answer. Only four people answered , so far. Does this mean that we only have four members that would commit a crime if they thought they could get away with it? Well...make it five. I'm right in there with the gals and the lottery plan! I don't think I could ever commit a crime that would ever harm anyone in any way. But....being able to win a huge amount of money by using an unfair edge...I would do that...if I was guaranteed not to be caught!
  14. Lori...it really is these "little things" that will be the things you remember in the years ahead. I'm so glad you and your Mom are making the most of these days and enjoying moments together.
  15. If you could commit one crime without being caught, what crime would you commit?
  16. (((((((((Lori)))))))))) I am so heart broken for you after reading your posts. Just remember that we are here for you and will be with you every step of the way through this journey. I am so glad you and your Mom are able to talk about this openly. I am praying for a miracle come your way. You have been so good to your Mom during her illness. I know how much she loves you and appreciates you being there for her.
  17. I have read lots of these poems and usually don't think of sharing them but there was just something special about this one. It really seemed to comfort me. Hope it will do the same for you. Things I’d Like To Say Some things I’d like to say But first of all to let you know that I arrived okay. I’m writing this from Heaven, where I dwell with God above Where there’s no more tears or sadness, there is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight Remember that I’m with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on Earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He whispered, "I welcome you". It’s good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone, As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on. I need you here so badly as part of My big plan. There’s so much that we have to do to help our mortal man. Then God gave me a list of things He wished for me to do, And foremost on that list of mine is to watch and care for you. And when you’re sad, I’m standing there to wipe away the tears, And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on Earth and all those loving years, Because you’re only human they are bound to bring you tears, But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain, Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned, But if I were to tell you, you wouldn’t understand, But one thing is for certain, though my life on Earth is over… I am closer to you now than I ever was before. And to my very many friends, trust God knows what is best. I’m still not far away from you, I’m just beyond the crest. There are rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb. But together we can do it taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I’d like it for you too That as you give unto the World so the World will give to you. If you can help somebody who is in sorrow or in pain, Then you can say to God at night "my day was not in vain." And now I am contented that my life it was worthwhile, Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is down and feeling low, Just lend a hand to pick him up as on your way you go. When you are walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind, I’m walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when you feel the gentle breeze or the wind upon your face, That’s me giving you a great big HUG or just a soft embrace. And when it’s time for you to go from that body to be free, Remember you’re not going, you’re coming home to me. And I will always love you from that land way up above. Will be in touch again soon! P.S. GOD sends His Love!
  18. All of these are legitimate companies that didn't spend quite enough time considering how their online names might appear... and be misread. You can "copy and paste" any one of these to your web browser to see for yourself that they are all real... 1. Who Represents is where you can find the name of the agent that represents any celebrity. Their Web site is www.whorepresents.com 2. Experts Exchange is a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at www.expertsexchange.com 3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at www.*****land.net 4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at \ www.therapistfinder.com 5. There's the Italian Power Generator company, www.powergenitalia.com 6. And don't forget the Mole Station Native Nursery in New South Wales, www.molestationnursery.com 7. If you're looking for IP computer software, there's always www.ipanywhere.com 8. The First Cumming Methodist Church Web site is www.cummingfirst.com 9. And the designers at Speed of Art await you at their wacky Web site, www.speedofart.com
  19. O yes...we do know and understand exactly how you feel. Dennis used to always do something special for my birthday. My first birthday after his death was terrible. Although it will be very hard for you, please try and have a very Happy Birthday. Maybe you can use that day to reflect on all the very special birthdays you and your Dad enjoyed together. I'm sure your Dad is watching over you and sending beautiful wishes your way!
  20. ((((((((((((Cindy))))))))))))) There is just something about the anniversary dates of our loved ones passing that is unbearable. In December, it will be four years since I lost Dennis. I can tell you that each year, around December 15th, I'm a complete basketcase. I just want to curl up in the dark and be left alone with my memories. This also happens on his birthday and our wedding anniversary. These days just seem to bring back all the memories and open all the wounds that have taken so long to heal. I know how much you miss and love your Dad...and I'm sure he loves you too.
  21. I'm an office manager for an aluminum company. There are times when I enjoy my job and other times when I would love to run out the door and never even look back over my shoulder. I don't mind the work aspect of the job but there are some really nutso personalities to deal with in this company. Oh...the stories I could tell ya! I would absolutely change jobs if I could find one making more money...in a heartbeat! I work 8-5, Monday to Friday. Monday is my favorite day of the week (other than Friday), as I'm out of the office all day doing building permitting. It's nice being out of the office and on the road!
  22. Lori, so sorry to hear that your mom is spending her birthday in the hospital. I'm sure she would love to be home with her family today but to a mom, having your family near is what matters, regardless of where you are! I'll be continuing prayers for your mom! Please tell her Happy Birthday for us!!!
  23. How about "I Feel Good" by James Brown???
  24. There have been so many GTKY questions asked but not too many that deal with our occupations. Our dear Peggy suggested that I ask these questions and I thought it was a great idea. If you're retired, just tell us what you did. Tell us about your occupation. Example: 1. What is your occupation? 2. Do you enjoy your work? 3. Would you change jobs if you could do something making more money? 4. Would you change jobs for any reason? 5. What hours do you work (day, evening, night).
