  3. My Mom gets the same way at times. You just have to get "thicker skin" and have other people spend time with her, such as other siblings, relatives etc. That's what I did when she was like that, or if it got bad when I was there, I'd just go for a walk. Sorry you're having to deal with this as well as the cancer. Hang in there. Prayers for you and your Mom, Deb
  4. Thanks again everybody. Mom drove herself to chemo today, if you can believe that! I'm still hanging by a thread, but I am in for the long haul. My Mom handles things so much better than I do. I will not show my worry to her though. I want her to stay upbeat and positive because we all know that is a large portion of fighting this horrible disease. My best and my prayers for all of you, and Kel, good to see you, Deb
  5. Thanks everyone!! Her first day went well, which is awesome. They are going to scan her again after her second round to see what response she is having. Love and prayers guys, Deb
  6. Mom has gone in for her first of four chemo treatments today. They are hoping because she is so much stronger, (last time she was brought in on a stretcher), this time around and has been off chemo for 8 months that the same cocktail, (cisplatin & VP16), will get just as good a response. Hoping and praying that it makes her best friends with NED. She is in great spirits, just a little weak and SOB at times. I am keeping my fingers, toes.....etc crossed. Please keep her in your prayers. Love and prayers for each and every one of you, Deb
  7. Absolutely Don, my prayers for you both!! Hope to hear good news soon. Love and prayers, Deb

  14. Hi everyone: Thank you all so much for your well wishes and prayers, it means so much. As far as Topotecan goes, up here in Canada, they say it is still experimental . Just got another call from the "gloom and doom fairy"---my brother, think I might drive out to his place and beat him !! Just kidding (sorta )...I will keep you posted and my fingers, toes, eyes, pretty much anything I can, crossed. Love and prayers to you all, Deb
  15. Hi all: Have been away from the boards for awhile, my apologies for that. I think that I have been trying to deny my Mom's illness, or something like that. Not so good news, I am afraid, from her last check-up August 16. They had noticed "something" at her last appointment, so they did a CT. They have found that there is new growth at the site of her previous tumour in her left lung, but nowhere else. I am terrified beyond belief now. Her onc. is so gloom and doom and some of my relatives are the same way. Does she have a chance guys to become NED and stay that way? They are restarting chemo with her on Monday and I am just not sure what to think of it all. Hope all is well with everyone, my prayers for you all, Deb

    Leg Cramps

Hi Dennis: I notice from your signature lines that your wife has been in and out of hospital due to low sodium. This could be the problem with her leg cramps. My mom has had the same problem. Try pumping her up with Gatorade and things like that. Also, try vitamin/mineral sups., like potassium, calcium, vitamin D if her onc. approves of course. My mom's onc. had to approve everything for her, so give him/her a call just to check it out and be safe about any interactions. Good luck with it and hope this might help you out some. Prayers, Deb
  17. Many, many prayers for Brian and yourself... Deb
  18. Congrats Don and Lucie. WOW, what a great tribute to marriage you both are!! Hope the dinner was grand! Deb
  19. Hi Jen: My Mom has a similar problem since PCI. What the onc. thinks is that there is something at the base of your skull that controls balance etc. and he feels that the rad onc. may have hit that when doing the radiation. He is going to scan her July 5 to be sure. If it is the case, there is nothing he can do but wait for it to heal, which he said that it would. Hope this helps you some, good luck with the rest of the treatment and keep the good news coming. Thinking and praying for you, Deb
  20. Lots of prayers coming your way.... Deb
  21. Welcome Bunny: When my Mom was dxed, I kinda went into a state of shock for a bit. It will fade and the fighting spirit will come out. Also, with doubting your faith, that is normal, I have done it too, but my faith has returned with a vengeance. Prayers for you and your Mom, Deb
