    Crossroads

Awww geez Kel: My heart goes out to you and your mother. I do know what you mean as when my mom first started treatment she ended up having seizures and a few ambulance rides later, they had us believing the worst and at that time I was hoping for peace for her, no matter how much I loved her. Keep the faith Kel, I will be praying hard for you two no matter what happens, Deborah
  3. Hi Bev: Sorry to hear of your troubles. My Mom has the exact same thing going on and she finished PCI mid-February. She has her next check June 7, so hoping all is good. My thoughts and prayers are with you and take good care of yourself, Deborah

    Confused Update

Hi Sandy: I got that same "US, Canada" difference crap that you got from my mother's onc., but if I told him to do something, he did it. Your Dad's onc. is telling you the truth about the chemo. however, but if they picked up signs awhile ago, they should have been on it then. It's just negligence as far as I'm concerned if they don't get on it at first sign. GET YOUR DAD A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!!! They cannot deny you that just because we have a weird health system up here as opposed to the States. They may say it's a money making issue down in the States, but up here I think it's politics....gotta save those health care bucks and make all the politicians proud!!! Boloney!!! Alberta has just had a record fundraising year concerning cancer, so they can spend some on the patients I think!! When you do get a different doctor, insist on the kind of care you want for your father. I cannot even tell you how many times I have had to "go to the mat" in the Cross for things that my Mom needed, so don't be shy, do what you have to do to get good care for your Dad. And if all else fails, check into Calgary, they have a great Cancer Institute there. Good luck to you and your Dad Sandy, keep us posted, Deb
  6. Boy do I know exactly what you mean, I have hesistated posting about my mother for so long as not to "tempt the fates"! I guess I just have to learn to put my faith where it should be, in God, and don't worry so much. Take good care, Deb

    My Mother

Hey all: Yesterday my Mom was out mowing the lawn and telling me that her strength is coming back....BIG TIME!! How awesome, I am so happy for her, but insecure at the same time watching the crappy news so many have had on the board. Should I be paranoid?? Praying for you all, Deb

    VERY CONFUSED

Hi Sandy: I am sending you a PM. My mother had treatment at the Cross too and she is doing great. Her oncologist at the Cross told her that if she does not relapse within three months that he could reuse the same chemo. He also mentioned Topotecan that could be used. I sent you his name, see if you can see him. All the best, Deb BTW, I have found some of the doctors at the Cross to be @sses!!!

  17. Oh my gosh Betty, I can't believe this. I know that I have not been a steady poster on the board, but I read daily and you are one of the people that has touched me deeply with your empathy and cheerful advice. I can not find the words to express how sad I am right now. You are like a rock to many and I am hoping that a miracle touches your life real soon as I know He can provide. Prayers and strength for you, Deb
  18. Sorry to hear your mother is going through such a hard time right now. Have you asked the doctors about Zofran and Megace? The Zofran will keep the nausea at bay, and the Megace will increase her appetite. My mother relied on it for awhile after treatment and now she is 2 lbs over her weight when she originally got sick. Hope this helps, Deborah
