Oh Maryanne: How sweet of you to think of my mother. I appreciate it! She is doing well so far with two rounds of chemo under her belt. She will have a CT done on the 18th to see how things are going and we will discuss further treatment then. Her onc. has suggested Temodal (Temodar down in the States) for her after her 4th round of chemo. How did Joel's scan go? Sorry if I missed an update somewhere. I hope and pray all is well with you guys. Love and prayers, Deb
  2. Looks awesome Peggy! Enjoy it! Deb
  3. I, also, have been thinking and praying for you too. My heart just goes out to you everyday Carleen. Many, many prayers for you and Keith, Deb
  4. Awwww Judy....my heart was in my throat when I was opening your news. I have been praying and thinking about you!! WAY TO GO GIRL.....YOU KEEP IT UP!!!! Praying for all to be gone, Deb
  5. Hey Rochelle: My mom had nausea and fatigue. She took Decadron to control all the side effects. It wasn't too long after she finished PCI, maybe a few weeks, and she was feeling better. Good luck with it, Deb
  6. I am so so sorry Donna. I don't know what to say. You are in my prayers for peace and healing. Deb
  7. Thanks Missy, appreciate your sharing. Deb
  8. Hi Lori: I am not exactly sure what the difference is. Maybe somebody will chime in. Thanks Lori, Deb
  9. Hi everyone: Just wanting peoples input and experiences with Gamma Knife or Temodar. Thanks for sharing if you can. Love and prayers, Deb
  10. Thank you everyone for your many prayers. I will keep you in mine for sure as always. Jen and Carleen: I am going to call her oncologist today and talk to him about sending the scans to Calgary just to get a second opinion on the gamma from them. Her rad. onc. here is not exactly helpful and I have never had much trust in him. He never seems to want to help at all. Thanks for the heads up and I will keep you posted. How is Keith doing Carleen? My heart and prayers go out to you as I can see how very much you love that man. Love and prayers, Deb
  11. Many prayers being sent your way. Deb
  12. Bravo Lynda....you go girl!! Wasn't homosexuality and intervenous drug use the general concensus for a long time regarding Aids and HIV? Could that not be considered reckless disregard for the gift of life, (not that I am saying that it is as we all know that it can be contracted in many different ways)? How long did it take for public opinion to change regarding it though? Ignorance is bliss is some situations, I guess. Sad, but true. All the best, Deb
  13. Thanks everyone, I surely appreciate all your support and prayers. My Mom is doing well with this first round, not much for side effects yet. Jen: I have talked to her onc. about Gamma Knife and it is available in Calgary, but he does not want her to have it at this point as the last patient he had with her similar condition only had a brain met left and the procedure left him 0 function left. He is very apprehensive about it, but said that we can talk further after we see what will happen with this chemo. Thanks for the advice. Can any of you that have had gamma tell about your experiences with it? Praying for you all, much love, Deb
  14. Hi Guys: I have been avoiding posting this as it seems to make it more real than I would like it to be. My Mom's scan came back horrble. She has had progression to the brain and adrenal gland now. Her onc. only gave her a couple of months as she cannot have anymore brain rad. Right now she is trying another round of chemo to see if it has any effect. She has finished her first 3 day cycle already as of Friday. She has to get tests this week coming to see if any response is noted at all. Her onc. has already told us that if we would like to head south, (as I am thinking of trying to get her into the Cloretazine trial), that he would support us 100% If it does have some response to what he is doing now, he will give her Temodal, (Temodar it is called down in the States), afterward. I am in shock and hoping and praying for a response as it is in God's hands we all know. Please keep her in your prayers?! Love and prayers for all of you, Deb
  15. Donna: I am praying for you guys and hoping that the doctors are wrong. Have you thought about trying to get into the Cloretazine trial that Schmaydee had such success with. I think Yale Medical Center in New Haven, CT is still accepting people. The MD in charge's name is Scott Gettinger. Maybe worth a telephone call at least. Good luck to you and prayers for you, Deb
  16. AWESOME SCMAY!!!! I have been thinking about ya and praying you would have an great response. Deb
  17. Hi Guys: I am here in the Edmonton area for anyone that needs a buddy! Deb
  18. Hey Bill: Try this stuff Gardener's Dream Cream @ http://www.aromacrystal.com/ Nothing worked for my Mom's "chemo" feet until we stumbled across this stuff. It heals everything for her. Good luck, Deb

    Mom Update

Don, Sam, Beth, Ginny, Sheri, Anais and Kasey thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it! I have great news. They have nailed down what is wrong and it is not brain mets. It's her electrolytes. She is on fluid restriction now and they said in about a week, she will be feeling better and they will retest her electrolytes then. What a relief!! Sheri--actually she has only had the two rounds of chemo. They are talking mild rad now for paliative. There is none, or not much growth as per x-ray, so I guess it is stable for now. Although, I would like to see them do something before things are out of hand and the CT will go ahead as planned. Sadly, up here in Canada we really can not switch around doctors all that much. Getting her a new one would be quite difficult as her current onc would have to refer her. I think that I might speak with her GP though and see what happens there. I am secretly stalking Schmaydee too... LOL...glad to hear I am not the only one!! I have spoken to her onc about Cloretazine and I am going to try and push it further. Thanks everyone and a great one. Love and prayers, Deb

    Mom Update

Hey Guys: Hope you remember me, I am here everyday just don't post, but here just the same. I have been reading all the losses and it has hit me in a big way. I never really know what to say except that this disease so totally sucks and I HATE it!!! Well, now on to my Mom, she had her second round of chemo and had a 75% reduction from it. We were at her oncs yesterday and now he is talking just palliative radiation and what not stating that once the cancer has come back that it always will. I do not know what to think of that. I have read on here some that have had a recurrence and they are cancer free now, but up here in the "Great White North" (yeah right ) we don't seem to be able to get all the treatment options as you can down in the States. I am disgusted to say the least. The onc said he can notice a slight increase in her lung from x-ray and scheduled a CT for next week. She has developed kind of a stagger and slur to her words when she is quite tired or really cold so he wants to check things out and see how the lung is doing etc. He said that her lungs were clear and her weight is up and no other problems to speak of. I don't know guys, any thoughts?!! Love and prayers for all of you always, Deb
  21. I'm with Jan on this one, Green Day's new CD is completely fantastic!! I love alot of thier stuff from beginning to end. The few songs that really hooked me on them was "When I Come Around" and "Poprocks and Coke". I am a big, big rock fan from old to new stuff. I like a wide variety of groups. My favorite though, would have to be my sons band Kickflip. They sound alot like Green Day, and the one song they wrote "River of Dreams" makes me cry, (but I am biased when it comes to them).
  22. Tons of prayers for you two Pat and Brian. Deb

    Mom Update

Hi all: Hope this post is finding everyone well as I have been away for a bit. I have good news to report!! My mother had her CT after 2 cycles of chemo and she is RESPONDING, which is so very cool! Praise God, He is so very awesome! She has had 50% reduction already and her onc. is thinking that after 2 more cycles, it should be all gone and she should be into remission again, (hopefully for good this time). The only setbacks she has had is ,at the moment, she has a cold and kidney infection which is clearing up with the meds the doctor has given. She started her third cycle today of Cis and VP-16. Here's to hoping that everyone here has good news to report! Love and prayers for all, Deb
