    Need Advice.

Thanks everyone for the support. I still feel like I have been given a good shot to the gut, but I guess I will wait to hear from Dana Farber. I hope between them and the good Lord they supply my Mom with her magic bullet! Hugs, Deb

    Need Advice.

Hi all: I have been lurking, but haven't felt like posting too much. My life seems to be a roller coaster ride that is making me quite nausous right now. My love and prayers to all of you however. My Mom has been put on palliative radiation which she has finished now. They won't do anything else for her, which totally sucks as they have not done everything I know that they can. So, I hired a private company out of Quebec to shop her case file through the US to get second opinions. They are in the midst of doing that as we speak. They are sending it to Boston right away to Dana Farber. My question is, are they any good there? Do you think that they will come up with a treatment plan for her? I guess I just need some encouragement right now as I feel I am crumbling. Thanks for listening and responding. Love and prayers, Deb
  3. Very beautiful, very sad......prayers for strength and peace for you Carleen. Deb
  4. Hey Guys, Haven't been on much as things have just been a whirlwind these last few months. Mom is not doing well I'm afraid and I have been mad at the world one minute, then hopeful I can find something else for her the next. Right now they are giving her five days of radiation to her lung for paliation purposes only. They say there is nothing more they will do and to start preparing. My question is what good will five days rad do for her and if they wouldn't give it to her before, why would they now? I am also wondering what kind of side effects will she have and will this help her at all? Thanks in advance to everyone, Deborah

Many, many prayers for you, your dad and family. Hang in there Jorja. Deb
  6. Hey I hear ya Linda. My Mom was the same. I had to be on her like glue! LOL Good luck with it, Deb
  7. Hey Linda: When my Mom's electrolytes dip on her they restrict her fluid intake to 1.25 litres per day. In that she would drink things like Gatorade etc. to replenish them. She really had to police her fluid though as she had a tendency to go over. Good luck sorting it out, prayers for you two, Deb
  8. Wonderful news....praying that it continues and starts a chain reaction with everyone else!!! Deb
  9. Hey Kelsey: So great to hear from you! About the house, I have contemplated many times if the worst should happen, what to do with my Mom's house. I would hate to see it sold to anyone except to family. It's empty right now as my Mom lives with me, but all the same, I don't want it to go anywhere. It's a very comforting thing that your brother is going to be living in it. Your cruise sounds fantastic! Wish I was going with ya! I was born and raised on Vancouver Island and I miss the water tremedously. Sounds to me like you are doing quite well. Congrats on the house purchase. Take good care of yourself and check in with us from time to time.....we miss ya!! Love and prayers, Deb

    It does Work

Oh Don your posts are so uplifting!! Wonderful news!! God bless and keep it up!!! Deb
  14. Hi Debbie: My Mom had her electrolytes bottom out on her and she went into seizures and I swear, I did not know her either! She was talking nonstop and didn't know who I was. The doctors at the ER we took her to had said the same thing, that the cancer had spread to her brain and that we had a few hours with her at best. They transfered her to a big hospital in the city and did an MRI and found out the cancer had not spread and that she just needed fluids. After getting us to sign a DNR already! They admitted her in the city, but I'm telling you, it was a nightmare previous to it. Dig in, I am sure you can find out. Good luck and I will be praying for you and your Dad, Deb

    OOOHHH YEAHHHH!!!

Well the news is in folks.... Not NED, but shrinkage!!! One brain tumour is almost gone and all other areas have reduced. Not sure by how much, but shrinkage is music to my ears. I knew as soon as my Mom's onc. walked in the room; he could hardly contain the smile. He grabbed my Mom and gave her a hug and told her how amazing she is. He never thought that it would work at all. I also gave him an LCSC cookbook because he loves cooking and he said he was going to pass it through the board at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton to be able to start handing out the web address to his patients. He gave a big kudos to Rick and Katie, (I do too, by the way), for starting such a fantastic site. He said that there is not enough of them for lung cancer and that the "inane stigma of smokers doing it to themselves" was just that, stupid and hogwash too!! Thank you everyone, from the bottom of my heart for all your prayers. I continue to pray everyday for all here and more, Love, (a very happy) Deb
