  1. Welcome, yeap this is the new norm, but day by day it will get better as you jump from one emotion to another, denial, anger, sadness until one day acceptance comes and you begin to fight. You are not alone we have all been there, and still on occassion I have a good cry, your in the right place for support, keep us updated and remember tomorrow will bring a better day.
  2. Statics are only numbers and I don't believe in them, everyone is different. Sounds like good news for your mom and she should feel good about things but I know how hard it is at times be confident that little devil creeps in all of our minds at some point of the day. But she is very lucky to have you in her corner. Keep us posted.
  3. Welcome Yvette, sounds like your dad is a healthy fellow and has determination that's what it takes determination to battle this disease. Keep us posted.
  4. I agree that with the right surgical team you would do fine, and surgery would be a possible cure. Good Luck..

    Scan results

Great news, well deserved vacation is in need..
  6. What a great question, I laughed and laughed at the responses. And Don wanting as many body parts that he can take with him. FUNNY....
  7. Danielle, We all have these days whether we are the one with the cancer or a family member looking from the outside. I am 47 have 2 children 24 and 18, the thing I try not to do is talk about it constantly, we still joke talk about friends and family at dinner time, but sometimes we do talk about it. Maybe you could be the one when talking to you mom, is to bring up things you use to talk about, but its also important for you mom to talk about it when she needs to. Its never ever out of my mind but I try really hard not to let it consume me. Until someone sets me down and says you have this long to live, Im going to try and live my life as normal as possible. And I too still have those days when I get very depressed with it all. Tomorrow will be a better day. Take care..
  8. I feel you fear, but remember if surgery is possible that is a good thing, so many people are inoperable and have only drugs to help them. I was told if surgery was an option that means a possible cure. Just be sure to follow up with scans after the surgery not just chest xrays, after my surgery chest xrays were all I was given, now I have recurrence. Good Luck..
  9. Marco Jo, so sorry about your sister, same age as me. I sure she is in a better place without pain or discomfort. Prayers your way as you and your family heal..

    Dr. West

I just wanted to say that Dr. West is a blessing to this site, every time I read a response he has made to one of us, he talks in ENGLISH and we all know how it is to talk to a doctor when they use the big medical terms and you leave the office shaking your head. So Dr. West keep up the good work and terminology you use. We appreciate you...
  11. Don is correct, recurrence is the same type of cancer as the first, my recurrence is the same as the first, also this time I also have several other types in that location but because the first was identified it is a recurrence. Best of luck to us all..
  12. I too am going through chemo and my recurrence it in my mediastium area, I was told chemo is for any microscopic cancer cells that are to young and not showing up. Im greatful that this time around chemo is being done. I feel pretty sure thats is what they are doing with you case. Good luck
  13. I agree with all the above, you can get too much info off the internet, although I would push to get the CT results a week is long enough. Good luck..
  14. I agree with Don, cyberknife may be an alternative, I was told if a nodule showed up again in my lung I could have it. Let us know.
  15. Sorry for the loss of your mom, glad you and your family are out trying to make a difference. Keep in touch.
  16. Sounds like you got great news, that is wonderful.
  17. I too have had my first chemo, and by the third day had no energy at all even found it hard to walk to the bathroom but it got better the next day. As for eating, no desire to eat when I did it was a cracker only so I could take my medicine, I lost 6 lbs the first week, 2nd chemo this past Friday had a reaction to one of the drugs and couldnt complete it. Just make sure she drinks.

    Ray A

So sorry, sending prayers your way....
  20. I agree with all the above, especially Snowflake, your mom knows which buttons to push, my mother was the same way only not with me but my older sister. Mom knew I would not tolerate it and I had a family and did what I could, but my sister who is single got cussed, and made to feel guilty about everything I felt sorry for her she did the most because of not having children etc and she was the one mom struck out to. I finally had to say something to her and got cussed myself but just because you have cancer does not mean for people to be ugly and mean, mom didnt talk to me much for awhile but she got over it and it certainly helped my sister because she is so sensitive and mom knew it. Be tough and dont let her play the guilt trip on you, but also let her know you love her and will do all you can for her, but you cannot read minds she needs to tell you when you are most needed. Good luck....
  21. Hi, my story is simular, I dont understand them not getting a biopsy, and I was told if surgery was possible that was good. I think I would get a second opinion asap, sometimes we have to push things to go foward never forget that... Best of luck....Let us know and keep in touch..
