  4. YOUR MOTHER IS ALWAYS WITH YOU... Your mother is always with you... She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home... She's the map you follow with every step that you take. She's your first love and your first heart break... and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, Not space... Not even death... will ever separate you from your mother... You carry her inside of you... ~Author Unknown~
  5. Holding ((((Keith)))) Firmly in prayer today.
  6. Lori, First of all, you go girl. Just take care of mommy and what SF does is his business. On the flip side of that, you need to tell him right off you ned some money NOW to prepare for her homecoming or take him with to get stuff o he can pay. Deprnding on how mobile she is you may want to get a comode, and a shower seat. If it is really hard getting her up you may want to look into a hosp bed. A baby monitor can be pretty handy. You may want a small foldable wheelchair. Wish I could say more to help, know that you and your mom are in my prayers.
  7. I understand all that you've said Linda and really hope this book can help.My mom has been gone for over 10 yrs and I still struggle so much with sooo many things. You are on the ball and taking charge and looking for the help needed to get thru all this and I am proud of you.
  8. Way to go MaMa. Don't forget to give yourself a great big pat on the back also, as you have also been living with lung cancer for 2 years. And you have been a TERRIFIC daughter.

  11. Jim, I am sorry the news was not better. Hoping tarceva will be the magic bullet. Glad you are keeping the positive additude. I love fishing too, very relaxing. Good luck with the tarceva and the fish.
  12. Jamie, I am sorry the kids are having such a hard time. Maybe check the library, I know mine has some books on how to talk with such young kids about cancer in the family. I have been thru it with my kids too many times and their pain has hurt me more than my own. I was always honest but tried to keep things as simple as possible and always tried to watch what i said when they were around and just let them know this does not change how much you both love them. Take care and know you and your family are in my prayers.
  13. Hi Fred, I am thrilled to see a post from you and even happier to hear the great news. I am a fellow nodule watcher and my ct's have occasionally missed 1 or 2. They are SOOO tiny at mm that they can just be hard to see. I would take that as great news. I will lift my next bud light to this GREAT news Fred. You and Kasey deserve this.
  14. I am so sorry Lori that just trying to keep your mom alive has to be such a battle. Maybe you could get some library books on phys therapy and try to do some of it yourselves. You can incorporate it into bathing and dressing and stuff and maybe give mom some stuff she can do on her own. I just wish I could say something to make it better. Sending big hugs ((((((LORI))))))

  20. Little known stuff - amazing - especially the last part! In the 1400's a law was set forth in England that a man was allowed to beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Hence we have "the rule of thumb" ------------------------------------------- Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled "Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden"...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language. ------------------------------------------- The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV were Fred and Wilma Flintstone. ------------------------------------------- Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the U.S. Treasury. ------------------------------------------- Men can read smaller print than women can; women can hear better. ------------------------------------------- Coca-Cola was originally green. ------------------------------------------- It is impossible to lick your elbow. ------------------------------------------- The State with the highest percentage of people who walk to work: Alaska ------------------------------------------- The percentage of Africa that is wilderness: 28% (now get this...) ------------------------------------------- The percentage of North America that is wilderness: 38% ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The cost of raising a medium-size dog to the age of eleven: $6,400 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The average number of people airborne over the U.S. in any given hour: 61,000 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first novel ever written on a typewriter: Tom Sawyer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The San Francisco Cable cars are the only mobile National Monuments . ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history: Spades - King David Hearts - Charlemagne Clubs -Alexander, the Great Diamonds - Julius Caesar -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Only two people signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, John Hancock and Charles Thomson. Most of the rest signed on August 2, but the last signature wasn't added until 5 years later. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. Half of all Americans live within 50 miles of what? A. Their birthplace -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. Most boat owners name their boats. What is the most popular boat name requested? A. Obsession ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter "A"? A. One thousand ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. What do bulletproof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers all have in common? A. All were invented by women. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. What is the only food that doesn't spoil? A. Honey -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q. Which day are there more collect calls than any other day of the year? A. Father's Day ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Shakespeare's time, mattresses were secured on bed frames by ropes. When you pulled on the ropes the mattress tightened, making the bed firmer to sleep on. Hence the phrase......... "goodnight, sleep tight." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts... So in old England , when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them "Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down." It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many years ago in England , pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim, or handle, of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~AND FINALLY~~~~~~~~~~~~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At least 75% of people who read this will try to lick their elbow! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't delete this just because it looks weird. Believe it or not, you can read it. I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. 21. The amount sounds about right to me Linda. For my Gram they had to up it pretty regularly, but it did the trick for pain. It can slow the breathing a little and make him much sleepier so don't be surprised if this happens. Hang in there.
  22. Lori, my heart really goes out to you. I thank God you were able to "enjoy" your Easter and your ((Mom)) seems to be doing a little better. You are one tough chick and I REALLY admire your strength.
  23. Holding both You and Keith firmly in prayer. Your strength amazes me.
  24. So glad the nodes were clear Tom. Hope you are feeling a little better now.
  25. I am so sorry for your loss. May God hold you and your family in His arms during this very difficult time.
