  3. Hi John, Yes,it will be hard on your Dad and you...allow each other to express that... I don't know your situation but when my Mom died we had my Dad over night once or twice a week (He lives an hour from me) and being surrounded by 3 active children has a way of distracting you When he wanted to talk about Mom I let him... Here are some good books for grief:you can preview on Amazon Grief Observed by CS Lewis (He lost his wife) When God Doesn't Make Sense by James Dobson Elizabeth Kubler Ross also did alot of work in this area though I've never actually read her book. God bless Lynn
  4. Candy & Hugh I'm so happy for you both! Lynn
  5. Renee I hate this disease too! Sounds like hospice is taking good care of your Mom. Please make certain that you take care of yourself...it is important...and I'm sure your Mom would agree.God bless Lynn

  8. Carleen, Sorry I'm late....welcome. Just want you to know there are survivors out there. My Dad was dx w/SCLC at age 53....and that was in 1983!He is currently getting chemo now because he was just diagnosed with it again .Oh,by the way his disease was extensive....God bless Lynn
  9. Hi All I can remember from 1983 is he had combination chemo...the only specific drug I recall is Adriamycin. He was hit hard with chemo...at the time they did not have the anti- nausea meds either. He now has SCLC with kidney mets...new or recurrence I don't know.We don't see onc until FRi...Had to wait 2 weeks for this appointment. His office told me they didn't think their records even went back that far.!!!
  10. It can be done...I've seen it with my own eyes! God bless Love,Lynn

  12. hi Yes PCI can be used on extensive SCLC. In 1983 my Dad had sclc with mets to liver. After complete remission he was offered and took PCI. He is now fighting a recurrence/or new sclc But 20 years...not too shabby!
  13. You are all so brave...it's amazing...I'm falling apart I have a long story...going back to 1983.My 53 year old father was diagnosed with SCLC with mets to the liver. After a few months of prayers and chemo... he had a complete response and PCI.As a nurse I knew it was a matter of time before the cancer returned.Well,I waited and waited... Then in 1997 my Mom was diagnosed with SCLC with adrenal mets. She fought hard but passed away. She required a lot of care toward the later stages which my sister ,2 brothers and I gladly gave. She was my best friend and I miss her dearly. I filled my time with my three kids and my Dad stays one or 2 nights a week. Now 20 years after his original dignosis,he has been dignosed with SCLC with mets to kidney.I feel badly for him as he is 74 and lives alone...I don't know what can be donefor him in terms of treatment. We still have a week before seeing the onc...so I just listen to him cough and I cry.He says he will be fine.He was told Apr 1st...the day before his birthday....
