  1. Dean. We were just talking about you in the "Welcome" forum. Good to see you post again -- have I told you how much I LOVE reading your posts. Thanks to you, I take more time to notice the wonder of things going on around me in my all to hectic life. Mind you, we don't have Red Tailed Hawks and Geckos, but we do have Seagulls and Salamanders, and a class of students on the third floor of my school has three pet rats. Hope you get all the State issues settled so you can "Keep on truckin". Take care Dean. David P.
  2. Hey there Tom. Welcome, and congratulations on all your triumphs. Especially writing a book while being slightly dyslexic (2514). Went to Authorhouse and read your bio and book preview -- sounds like a wonderful read for anyone dealing with cancer. Maybe you'll give me some book writing tips so I can at least get Donna off my back (just kidding Donna). I'm sort of working on a rough draft in what spare time I have. I see your timely appearance here will definitely benefit the general population; I was just speaking with a newcomer to my local LC support group who was just diagnosed with lung cancer with mets to the adrenal gland and was wishing he could speak to someone who has been there. Told him about this site. Hope he visits and gets to meet you. Good to have you aboard, and I'll certainly be contacting you for a signed copy of your book. Take care. David P.
  3. Hey Karen. Pleased to meet you. Must be a great feeling to be free of the weed AND living with NED!! Congratulations on both. Haven't seen Dean on the site since early Oct. but there may be someone out there who has contact with him. Take care, and keep us posted Karen. David P.

    Checking in...

YIKES!!! Carleen -- slow down... you move too fast... You're not going to be any good to anyone if you don't get more than four hours of sleep each night. Sure is good to see you back posting. Hope everything goes well for Keith. Take care. David P.
  5. Way to go Fay!! Is there a second opinion on the near horizon? Hope you have a very full Thanksgiving. Take care. David p.
  6. Hi there Heather. Pleased to meet you. Sorry to hear about your mother, but glad to hear you're ready to put up a good fight. All too often, cancer patients are written off by the esteemed medical community, and sometimes even by their own family members. If you have spent any time reading some of the wonderful stories of survival by any of the people here on the board that are still around many years after being written off after their initial diagnosis, you will find quite a few success stories. Ask lots of questions - chances are they will be answered by someone here who has "been there, done that". Good luck, stay strong, take care, and keep us posted. David P.

    Anna Shearing

Dear Geoff and Melinda. What a beautifully written obituary. Please accept my condolences on the passing of Mrs. Shearing. David P.
  8. Hi Sandy. Wonderful speech. What an empowering time for you. It takes a lot to bring tears to my eyes...thanks Sandy, good job. David P.
  9. Way to go Heather!!! I'm one big smile from ear to ear -- congratulations to you and all that participated. I only wish I were closer. I'm very proud to say I belong to this wonderful group. Thanks, and take care. David P.
  10. Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. David P.
  11. Hi Sheryl. Welcome to the board. Hope you find the answers to your questions. Take care, and keep us posted. David P.
  12. Awesome news Nina!!! Celebrate!... Celebrate!... Celebrate!... Dance to the music! Take care. David P.
  13. David, David, David. Thank you very much. Because of your wonderful, "what can go wrong next" story, combined with your continued chemo treatments and everyone elses dealing with cancer life stories, I no longer have bad days. When I'm having a tough day I simply recall your situation to remind myself how truely inspirational you guys really are; and my seemingly tough set of circumstances are a mere flash in the pan compared to what you and others are living with daily. Thanks for that David, and stay strong. The relaxing with the Sam Adams sounds pretty good too. Take care David. David P.
  14. Hi Betty. I missed your original post -- for reasons I don't wish to discuss . Remission is such a wonderful sounding word... remission... yes, it is a good thing. Enjoy, and take care. Sounds like you had a great two weeks too. David P.
  15. Hey there kitkathi. 1000% is a good thing. I'm so glad your father is feeling better. I was going to put a pericardial window in the family room last year, but decided instead to put in a pericardial skylight - and boy, was I glad I did. Take care. David P.
  16. WOW!!! Fay, I always knew you were special, but I was wrong -- you're downright amazing!! Reading your latest post is like reading a medical journal... and to see that you've dealt with it all for the past six years and still have such a fantastic outlook on life is truely inspiring to me. It must have been such a good feeling to hear "no cancer" after your last tests. I am a little miffed that you should now have to deal with yet another setback and possible surgery. Hopefully though, all will work out for the best without surgery. Oh, happy belated B-Day, and here's wishing you many, many more. P.S: Is climbing Mt. Everest on your to do list? Take care Fay. David P.
  17. Hi Angie. Hoping for good test results next week. Glad to hear your father is doing well despite of the recent news. WOW to the new photo. Take care. David P.
  18. Hi Terra. I missed welcoming you the other day, so, welcome. I hope your mother's tests reveal a really big change! We could all use some good news like that. Take care. David P.
  19. Hey Ray. Just caught up on your first post. Sorry to hear you have more worries to deal with. I hope everything turns out well -- I'm sure it will. Take care. David P.
  20. Hi Nenette. Welcome, and pleased to meet you. Sorry to hear your mother is sick, and that she had such a bonehead for a GP, which ended up in you arriving here at this dreadful website. You know, I have a Rastafarian friend with a full set of dreadlocks -- he has a "dreadful" head of hair. Cancer is dreadful; the consequences of living with cancer are dreadful; the effects of chemo and radiation are dreadful;and the fact that the survival rate for lung cancer is so d.a.m.n small after all these years is dreadful! But this website Nenette, and the people who manage it, as well as those living with cancer and their caregivers, are SUPERCALAFRAGALISTICEXPIALADOCIOUS !!! And that's all I have to say about that. Now about your attitude Nenette -- it's wonderful! It sounds as if you are going to make certain your mother beats this, and with what you already know about the proper regiment of foods and treatments to help your mother, you are gong to be a very welcome addition to our little site. Glad you found us. (And sorry for all that dreadful stuff) Take care, and keep us posted. David P.
  21. Hello Barb. Pleased to meet you. Must have felt good to hear the tumour in your lung was gone. Keep up the great attitude while fighting off the smaller stuff until your next set of tests -- which will hopefully be more great news to celebrate. Take care. David P.
  22. Gina, Gina, Gina. It IS good to see you back!! Great to also see you're still clear, but we're expecting nothing less from you. Towing a trailer on weekends is a good way to keep busy, and it sounds like fun. But you can only go so far one way, if you have to be back Sunday night. If you get away for any lenghtier period of time, come up to Victoria for a visit. As for me... I'm just starting back to work tomorrow after two weeks off -- fell off a ladder two weeks ago -- broke a rib, punctured the old lung...which partially collapsed, added an anterior dislocated clavical, and popped two ribs from my sternum. (that's why I'm on the tricycle) It hurts to do anything... sneezed today - won't do that again. Anyway, I'm still cheerleading here on the old message board. And I just found out that our local cancer clinic is starting an LC support group with it's first meeting next week. The counselor organizing was surprised to hear I've been around for so long; she was even more surprised to hear I didn't want support, but wanted to give support. Nice seeing you back Gina, take care. David P.
  23. Cat. You've got me smiling ear to ear!!
