  1. Jessica, So sorry that you have to go through this at what should be such a happy time. Try to treasure whatever time is left. Hopefully we can be of help to you through this. Joan
  2. What great advice everyone has here. I, like your dad are stage IV with mets to bone. My doctors thoughts are that they can't get it all, so they will continue to try to keep me stable, making sure there is no further spread and of course allow me to have a good quality of life. As I continue along, with new advances coming all the time, hopefully, if something stops working, there will be something new to try. So far, so good. You've just gotta keep on smiling.
  3. Sending both you and Lucie my best wishes. Hope this new chemo goes easy for her. Glad to hear "no progression". Joan
  4. phew....hope i'm not too late!!! Let's get this party started. Grey Goose Apple Martini here.
  5. Totally shocked and sick about this. Leslie, you've been an inspiration to me. Prayers to you both. Joan
  6. I definitely agree about getting your mom out of there asap. If it becomes necessary, there is a family leave act, that does allow you to take off a certain number of weeks to care for a family member without worrying about losing your job or insurance. I would ask someone at your company about this and if it had to be taken all at once, or if you could just split up the time. I'm really curious myself. Joan
  7. Just want to welcome you and offer any help I can be in your fight. Joan
  8. Ginnie, Keep that good news coming!! Joan

  10. Wow! I love Dana Reeves and so glad you got to enjoy such a special night at the Garden. Glad she's looking good and especially that they mentioned Lung Cancer. I'm not especially a sports fan, but do know that being at the Garden is great. Happy for you. Joan
  11. We're all here for you, every step. If I got throught this stuff, I know you can too and believe me, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just at the point that my hair is starting to look almost cute. Go get em. Joan
  12. Dear Carleen & Keith, Best of luck on this wonderful decision. Can't wait to hear the good news. Joan
  13. So glad you're feeling so much better about the whole situation. Having a good doctor really helps. I also opted to go directly to chemo instead of having the radiation that was originally presented to me because I had no pain and I wanted to go right after the whole thing as soon as possible. Radiation will always be an option. Good luck. Joan
  14. Beth, I just want to thank you for sharing that with us. I sit here in awe and hope you are able to heal in time and that your pain can ease. Joan
  15. I'm just thrilled to hear such good news!! You deserve it. Joan
  16. I'd really like to know the name of this company, so I don't inadvertently buy anything from them.
  17. Hi Dave, So sorry to hear the pain your mom is in. Is she being seen in one of the larger NY hospitals? They all have "special pain management" doctors there, that hopefully should be able to help her. As far as the shoulder pain, I've been suffering with lots of shoulder pain lately, including feet and finger pain. The doctors finally concluded that it is neuropathy, caused by the chemo. They just gave me a prescription for it. I'll know in about 2 weeks if it works. I believe its caused by nerve damage. As far as the sugar/no sugar controversy, my doctors and a cancer nutritionist I saw felt there was no conclusive evidence regarding eliminating sugar. I think whatever makes the patient feel better is the way to go. (my opinion) Wishing you both the very best. Joan
  18. Hi, Saw my brother and he actually takes flax seed oil. Also lots of omega 3 and essential fatty acids.
  19. Hi Leslie & Mark, I hate to hear how you're feeling right now. But I know you'll be better than ever before too long. Taking a break is a good thing and it'll be nice hearing from you more. Just take care and feel better real soon. Joan P.S. Mark, welcome
  20. Thank you Bonnie and I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Yes, this is an evil, horrible disease. Glad you came to this site though, because even though I'm fairly new, I'm absolutely amazed at the caring and support I've encountered here. Hopefully we can help you get through this difficult time. Joan
  21. Holly, So, so sorry for your loss. Joan
  22. Hi Ginnie, Welcome from a fellow stage IV. Hope I can be of some help. Joan
  23. Thanks for the tip. What is Celebrex actually used for? I finally found out, actually figured out, that what I have is neuropathy (from the chemo). It still is nerve wracking when your whole body hurts and the doctor says everything is looking good.
  24. Allen & Debbie, Congrats to you both. I'm so happy to be able to share this with you. Joan
