  1. I am so sorry. Please know there are people out there praying for you!
  2. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's situation. My dad had pneumonia that was covering up a very fast growing tumor. Over the period of a few months, probably 6 or 7, his breath had grown shorter and shorter. He just thought he was getting old. He went in and thank goodnesss for the pneumonia, as that made them see it. A spot on the lungs could be a number of things, and no matter what, you as a family should stay strong, and know there is a huge support system out there for you. This is an amazing site. Welcome, and God bless.

Geri! You are a hoot! Thanks for a fun note!
  4. Welcome! This is an amazing place! I am in awe every day with the stories, strength, and miracles this site tells us about!!
  5. Isn't it an amazing thing! I am so thrilled you went! We have an amazing one here too...Loved it! Darned GF...what is up with that? Best of luck to you, and may your spirit continue to change lives as people who have never been to a Relay attend!!!
  6. Mark, I don't know of one that specializes in SCLC off the top of my head, though I will probably look around. My dad is getting treated at Mayo in Rochester, MN, and his main doc is one of the best in the world. He was the only doc invited from North America to an international conference for lung cancer. He spoke there the week my dad was diagnosed. Best of luck to you! Also, I see your daughter graduated from SDSU...I am in South Dakota, but assume you mean San Diego State????
  7. Andrea, I love the posts that I see here...don't focus on the numbers...instead focus on keeping yourself healthy, and calm. I have two kids, but don't know about the numbers that you wrote about. I do know that miracles happen EVERY SINGLE DAY, and because of that we can never, ever, ever, lose hope. God bless you Andrea...just think, no matter what, you have a little life in you, and that in itself is a gift from God!!!

    Sad Tidings

Michael, May eternal rest be granted unto her oh Lord, and may your perpetual light shine upon her always. Thank you for letting us know...stay strong, and know the battle and pain are no more...for us it is a different story, but we are blessed in the healing power of God.
  12. Bless your heart. God bless you and your mom...This disease is so terrible. We all try to find words to explain or help us each to understand this very un-understandable beast. I think we use "fight" as a verb that helps us...not them...we want to think every inch of possibility is being used - be it for 10 years, 8 months, 3 weeks, or 1 day...I am a religious kind of gal, and I feel like God's plan is in place, regardless of "fight" or "flight" or whatever other verbs we use. God bless you today, tomorrow, and always. Your mom is so lucky to have a daughter so strong, supportive, and loving.
  13. Karen, You sound like such an amazing person. You are so strong and give strength to the rest of us. The ward Dave was in sounds awesome, and I look forward to hearing more as you begin to volunteer. It is amazing what this can do for our spirits. Your Faith is a dolly, and has an amazing mom. I hope you enjoyed your highlights, shopping trip, and mother's day, though seated in a difficult loss. God has blessed you with a wonderful family, and for that I know you are thankful...God bless you Karen!
  14. I will keep those prayers coming! Best of luck!!!

    I am a grandpa again

Congrats Don! This is good news...I had my Lilli 7 weeks early, and though we had to spend a few days in the NICU, we are all home, healthy, and growing, growing, growing...I am sure there will be a few rough days, and scary days hooked up to machines, and tubes, but they have come such a long way in neonatology care. God bless you and new baby!
  16. Shirlie, Welcome to the boards. This is an amazing place. I will pray for you and for all plagued with this darned disease. God bless you!
  17. Welcome Pat. You have found an amazing source for information and support. God bless!

    memory issues

Tami, I am so sorry for this...this has to be daunting and frustrating. I know nothing, so can't be of any help in that regard, but I will put you into my prayers! God bless.
  22. Congrats! This is the best gift! My parents LOVE being grandparents. With this duty comes the amazing ability to "send em home after you spoil em!" God bless!
  23. Wow. So glad you went to the doc. You are in my prayers.
  24. OK...I feel I have been here long enough to branch out a bit, and since I have been asking everyone on the planet this question, I thought I would ask you too!!! My son is allergic to dairy...he doesn't get really sick, just loose as a goose!! Anyway..suggestions (aside from bananas and cheese of course!) on how to tighten up this chap? He is three, and we use humor at our house alot! (They say, once you are a parent poop talk is commonplace...I tend to think this is true!!! haha!)
  25. Today, I played with a kid at the library whose mom needed to nurse the baby. My son loved it and it was fun for all. This is a great way to meet new friends too!
