  1. 45 here in Baton Rouge, with a miserable light rain. I would prefer snow.
  2. My sister had a very hard time with depression. She would get up in the morning and cry and cry and couldn't tell anyone why she was crying..but it was uncontrollable. The doctor tried several things before he found the right medication for her. This is a very real problem and it is very important that you talk to your doctor about it. It will be impossible to get through this without getting medication for your depression. These are the words the doctor said to my sister. Talk to your Doctor.
  3. Praying for Shrinkage, TBones.
  4. I will add them to my prayers.
  5. My neice is a radiation tech..and we really rag her to tell us something when my sister's results come in, but she tells us she will lose her job if she does. The radiologist is the only one that can read the results accurately. I know it was awful for you to go through this, and I am sure the tech did not mean to upset you, but she should have never told you anything.
  6. My sister has had several bouts of heartburn. Her doctor is prescribing something for it today..Just wanted to know if this is normal for someone getting readiation?
  7. I can remember the Doctor telling my sister that she has lung cancer and the first thing she said after we all stopped crying was, "I did this to myself." She was very angry for awhile. I was more angry at the tobacco companies. I am in the process of quitting now. It is very difficult. I hate the cigarette makers just as much as I hate this disease. So many things in this world revolve around the almighty dollar. They can take prayer out of school but can't take cigarettes off the market. I am rambling, but I am a little ticked. Sorry!
  8. I think it is only to her chest. I am not absolutely certain. I think her mets were to her thyroid and some lympnodes. I do remember the doctor telling us that it looked as if someone took a paint brush and flicked it at her. She had 1 really big tumor and lots of smaller ones.
  9. The little bit that I understand about my sister's Radiation, is this: Her PET and CT scans came back 100% Resolution (Not sure if that is the right term-but I think it almost means NED). Her onc wants to continue with her chemo, because she had only 4 treatments at the time. She will have 2 more chemo treatments and 28 Radiation treatments, concurrently. After 19 Radiation treatments, she will be scanned again. Her ONC is know for being very aggressive with treatments and has had pretty good success.
  10. I was just thinking..Bill made a wonderful suggestion the other night for prayers to be said for everyone at a certain time. Why don't we just all decide on a time frame..anytime is fine with me..and say a prayer EVERYDAY at that time. I realize people may forget..new people come on, and so on,..but still, if we all always prayed at 6pm Pacific time, it will become a habit for us. We could still make the prayer suggestions for other times too..but to have one time that everyone just takes a minute EVERYDAY to pray for everyone with lung cancer, and everyone associated with Lung cancer (family, Doctors, etc.)would be a very good thing. It is just a suggestion.
  11. Boiled crawfish & potatoes......with corn and Beer..and mushrooms and sausage..Sorry, got carried away just thinking about crawdads.
  12. THANKS CONNIE! I really needed to hear that today. I just spoke to my sister, who was supposed to be getting her last chemo treatment today, but it has been postponed until her WBC count comes up some. She just doesn't sound like herself anymore and I don't know what to do to help her through this. I live over 200 miles away, and I go on weekends to clean her house and cook meals for her and her family, but it just doesn't seem like it is enough. She is just always so tired. I am not giving up..just having a bad day I guess.
  13. Thank you, Bill. She is starting her last chemo today. She has actually had about 8 Radiation treatments to date. Her doctor wants to give her 19 treatments and then do another CT Scan. Her last PET showed the cancer had completly disappeared. I was just wondering, if it is "a good thing". I just really need to hear some good news about this cancer CRAP! I hate it.
  14. Is it normal for patients with sclc-ext. to be given radiation and chemo? I don't see many here getting the radiation, so I am curious to know if this is a good thing for my sister, or a not so good thing. She doesn't ask the doctor a lot of questions.
  15. Reminds me of this joke: PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THE CITY A MAN WAS WATCHING 2 DPW GUYS WORKING ONE DAY...ONE WAS DIGGING A HOLE..THE OTHER WOULD COME ALONG BEHIND HIM AND FILL IT UP. THE GUY COULDN'T STAND IT ANYMORE AND ASKED THE MEN WHAT THEY WERE DOING. THEY SAID, WE ARE JUST DOING OUR JOBS. THERE ARE USUALLY 3 OF US HERE BUT LEROY IS SICK TODAY. THAT DOES NOT STOP US THOUGH. THE MAN ASKED WHAT DOES LEROY DO? THE WORKER TOLD HIM THAT LEROY WORKS IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM PUTTING THE TREES IN.
  16. What an awful thing to say to someone! God is the only one that knows when it is someone's time to leave earth. Keep your faith. We will all be praying for you.
  17. I am very sorry for your loss. I will be praying for you and your family. Your Dad, in spirit, will be at your wedding, and he will be free of pain.
