  1. Through this wonderful website, I met my "lung cancer pen pal" when I was staying in NY in summer 2003 to help my Dad who was getting chemo. Since then, this person and I have corresponded regularly and become "friends". I know all about her family and she knows mine -- right down to our day to day happenings. Anyway, D's husband has sclc -- she doesn't seem to post here anymore as she is a busy lady. Her husband, who is in his early 50's. has fought the good fight. He has been "chemoized" many times and sometimes seemed victorious against this da.. beast. Now, the cancer has metasticized to his liver and the doctors have put him in the hospital and given him only a few days, sayitng that he basically has no liver. So I guess prayers for a miracle would be in order. Failing that, prayers for a peaceful passing and strength for his wonderful wife who has been beside him every step of the way. I don't know what she will do without him. She loves him so much.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I also feel your pain in the post. I also felt a lot of mutual love in the post too. It sounds like your mom had a peaceful passing with her family with her.

    My sincere condolences.

  3. Sorry the news on John's mom wasn't as good as initially thought. Will say some prayers for her too.

Enjoy your holiday. I missed the post about you going away -- but I take it that you're on a family vacation. Enjoy and have a wonderful time.

  4. Melanie,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a rather rough time of it right now. Do show your husband how to get to this website because many of us are going to want to check up on you.

As someone else said, keep writing those 5 things each day that you're thankful for. I, too, think that is important for all of us.

Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and look forward to your return to this website.

  5. I'm glad you brought this to Dave's doctor's attention too. My son had dealt with an automimmune disease where his body attacks the platelets and he has had different "meds" for this.. I realize this is quite different from Dave's problem. However, I don't understand why they can't do a platelet transfusion to bring his count up.

Prayers that his platelets go up soon!
