  1. Prayer for Healing: Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow your healing hand to heal Matthew. Touch is soul with Your compassion for others. Touch is heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch is mind with Your wisdom, that is mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Teach him to reach out to You in is need, and help him to lead others to You by is example. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring Matthew health in body and spirit that he may serve You with all his strength. Touch gently his life which You have created, now and forever. Amen Rich

    Pressure

Hi Deb, Have you talked to your doctor? I’m sure he/she can give you something for the fatigue. Ask him/her how long after surgery will you back to normal and what do you need to do to help the process. Also talk to your boss and explain your situation. It does not mean you cannot do the job or want special treatment. Most bosses are under standing when they know the situation. Don’t worry about a thorough cleaning at home. That’s wasted energy at this time. Just stay tidy until your ready. Perhaps a family member or friend can help you out. Stay positive and take one day at a time. Take one step at a time. Prioritize what really needs to be done. You can do it. Hope this helps. Take care and God Bless. Rich
  3. Hi Dean, Take one day at a time and one step at a time. Wait and see what they say before jumping the gun. You never know. Stay positive my friend. Take care and God Bless. Rich
  4. Hello Chuck. I’m so sorry for the loss of your wonderful wife Kathleen. My wife’s name also is Kathleen. You mentioned volunteer work at the ACS. That’s a great place to start and you will be able to help other people in Kathleen’s memory. A widowers support group will help you also in your grieving. Do not hesitate. I’m sure Kathleen is looking down on you and saying get those feet moving. Hope this helps you. Take care and God Bless. Gemzar

Hi Carlton, I was on Gemzar and Carboplatin (9 rounds) from Dec 2002 thru March 2003. I was able to tolerate them very well with little side affects. However after I finished all my rounds the CAT scan showed the nodules grew larger. That particular combo was not successful. I started Taxol (9 rounds) in June 2003 thru August 2003. The Cat scan showed some nodules went away, some nodules grew smaller, and some new nodules developed. Which is a slight improvement. I opted for 6 more round starting in Sept 2003 and have 3 more rounds to go before my next CAT scan. Hope this helps you. Take care and God Bless. Rich
  6. Hi Natalie, I found taking one day at a time helps coping and dealing with my disease. I too am limited as to what I can do. I try to do what I can without over doing it. If I over do it it only makes matters worse and I get more frustrated. It’s best to know our limitations and work within them. I walk an hour a (most days) day no matter how tired I am or how hard it is. I go wherever there is (parks etc.) green. I think it is important to get out of the house and keep moving. Sometimes I think the key to battling our disease is more mental then physical. Has your mom joined a support group? They are really helpful. Click on the website below for more info. They have sites in your state. Hope this helps. Take care and God bless. http://www.thewellnesscommunity.org/ Rich Quote: Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. 7. Hi Kim, Sorry to hear about your mom. As your mother starts on her journey it is important to stay focused and positive on what she/you can and need to do. Take one day at a time, take one step at a time. Do not dwell on the past we cannot change it. Do not dwell on the future it is not hear yet. Talk to your (mom / you) doctors about your stress. It is understandable to feel that way. They should be able to help you. Also try to keep yourself busy. As far as treatments go. They have medications to help your mom get thru the chemo. Join a support group for both your mom and yourself. Click on the website below. They have sites in your state. Hope this helps. Take care and God bless. http://www.thewellnesscommunity.org/default.htm Rich PS: It's great that you are so close to your mother!!!!
  8. Hi Kate, I'm currently on Taxol and the results are better. Started 9 rounds in June 2003 thru Aug 2003. The CAT scan after that showed some nodules disappeared, some nodules grew smaller, and some new nodules developed. Opted for 6 more rounds starting in Sept 2003. Have 3 more rounds to go before my next CAT scan. So far I have been blessed regardless what chemo I've had I have been able to tolerate them very well. I had tried Gemzar and Carboplatin from Dec 2002 thru March 2003 with poor (nodules grew) results. Also click on the website below for more info on Taxol. Hope this helps. Take care and God Bless. 11. Natalie, Not sure which is best. I have had MRI and CAT scans. Click on the website below. They break it down about each scan. Hope that helps. Take care and God Bless. Rich http://www.baymoon.com/~gyncancer/libra ... 71601a.htm
  12. Hi Paula, I would start with the first doctor and get the process started. Then go for a second opinion. That's what I did. As it turned out they were both in agreement with each other. It was more of a peace of mind for me to get the second opinion. I’ve stayed with my original doctor since day one. She’s the best. I also research everything I can find on the Internet. Knowledge is the key to help us thru our journey. Peace and God Bless. Rich

    Anniversary

Angie, Congratulations to your parents on their 39th wedding anniversary. Take one day (we cannot change the passed or control the future) at a time. Stay focused on the current and stay positive. Celebrate each day as if it is an Anniversary, birthday, holiday, etc. Cherish the moments with your parents. Do not be so hard on yourself. You are a wonderful daughter with wonderful parents. Take care and God Bless. Rich
  14. Hi Norme, I know exactly how you feel. What works for me is I have a fantastic oncology doctor who I have complete trust, faith, and confidence in to guide me thru my journey. She is the captain of my Health Care Team and I get all my information from her rather then try to have several people decipher what’s going on. Then with her guidance I make my decisions. I find this a lot easier to deal and cope with and it is also less stressful. Plus what Tiny says I also do. Take care and God Bless. Rich
  15. Hope…. It’s Magic and it’s free, It’s not in a prescription, It’s not in an IV. It punctuates our laughter, It sparkles our tears, It simmers under our sorrows, And dissipates are fears. Do you know what hope is? It’s reaching past today, It’s dreaming of tomorrow, It’s trying a new way. It’s pushing past impossible, It’s pounding on the door, It’s questioning the answers, It’s always seeking more. It’s rumors of a breakthrough, It’s whispers of a cure, A rollercoaster ride, Of remedies unsure. Do you know what hope is? It’s candy for the soul, It’s perfume for the sprit, To share it, makes you whole. Author: Unknown

  17. Hi Debbie, (love your web site) I’ve found taking one day at a time works best for me. I do not worry about what happened in the (cannot change it) passed. I do not worry about the (not here yet) future. I walk an hour a day whenever I can where there is a lot of green. I find that comforting and occasionally I do see butterflies. I spend time with family and friends also. The days I cannot do anything I rest, rather then push and get frustrated. Also please stop smoking. I saw a picture of you on your web site and you have a smile that lites up the world. There is someone out there for you and you are a whole, very talented person. Did you try a support group? I go to The Wellness (www.thewellnesscomunity.org) Community. They have them in your state. Hope this helps you. Take care and God Bless. Rich PS: Frogot to sign-in on the first post.

  20. Hi Heather, I have stage IV NSCLC and have 3 cats also. On chemo since last DEC02. Did not have any problems. Might want to double check with your father's doctor or nurse to be on the safe side. Good luck to your father and God bless. Rich
