  1. Well hurrah for the much needed rain girls! It is a long weekend here in Canada and today is "Victoria Day". We live in Victoria of course, named after the queen and we have a 3 hour long parade that has been going for many many years. I've got company in town for the weekend and the whole week. My mom, my sister and her three kids. So the house is a buzz! Tiring but good. Happy Monday everyone! Sandra
  2. Oh Caren. I am saddened to read your update. Hopefully they can get dad feeling much more comfortable in the hospital. And then he can return to your loving home and have some good days. I wish you strength and peace. Sandra
  3. Best of luck Jamie. You will do just awesome as you do with all else you endeavour. Sandra
  4. Hi Sandy. It is so very hard, but the right choice is really whatever you choose to do. And the timing would never be right. Many have been faced with this kind of choice before and in the end, what will be, will be. You have no reason to feel guilty about going or staying. All that said, it is still a very difficult choice you have to make, and I wish you peace of mind once you have made it. Sandra
  5. I agree with you Denise, those results sound very good. Isn't it nice to be able to post in the "good news" forum. Take care and have a great weekend Sandra
  6. Your mom's story is an inspiration Shelley! Tell her to keep up the good work and keep living life to the fullest! Sandra
  7. Hi there. I am sorry to read about your sister and now your dear mom. Know that there are many here who have walked in your shoes and we are here for you. It is so overwhelming at the beginning. Ask any question or just come here for support. Whatever you need. Please keep us posted on how you and your mother are doing. Take care Sandra
  8. I've always found it difficult to eat first thing in the morning. But, I TRY to eat breakfast. I sure do appreciate a late weekend morning brunch though...bacon and eggs....yummm!
  9. That is just super news! Go sisters go! Sandra
  10. Hey Kukla. The world is really socking it to you right now. Of course you are tired and scared and stressed. Glad to hear that both hubby and dog are on the mend though. Hopefully things will settle down to a dull roar for you soon. In the meantime keep accepting all the help that is offered and make sure you are getting much needed rest. Sandra
  11. Sounds like you are doing pretty good Judy! Yeah!
  12. New York City for me. I have never been. Lots of great sites, shows and shopping!
  13. Hi Evalynn. I live in Victoria, BC. Feel free to PM me anytime. Sandra
  14. Hi Evalynn. So sorry about your need to be here but you have come to a good place. There are many surivival stories and hope here. And lots of knowledge and support. Once there is a treatment plan in place for your MIL all will start to feel a bit better. Please keep us posted Sandra
  15. Oh Caren. You have so much on your plate. You deserve a break. Hopefully there is someone who can lend a hand. Your dad is sure lucky to have you and I am sure he knows that. Glad to hear he is doing a bit better. Now we are worried about you. Wishing you some rest... Sandra
  16. Sorry you have to go through that awful process Ann. I hope it goes quickly and you get out of there fast.
  17. Oh yes I comprehend! So very true!
  18. Ty really should be the guy to go. He should have been gone last week as Lil Kim really did deserve to be in the semi-finals. But he is very likeable and obviously has a huge fan base. Idol-Adam for sure is the front runner and I think he should win. But you never know, and he was in the bottom three a few weeks ago. All depends on who it is that is voting I guess.
  19. Oh Sandy, you have so much on your plate and have been through so much with your mom. I am sure she is very appreciative. Glad to hear hospice is helping some. You are right, you need some respite and I hope you get some help soon. God bless you and take care Sandra
  20. Hi Tommy and welcome to the group. Please tell us a bit more about yourself and how we can help. We know how scary this is and either as a patient or a caregiver, many of us here have walked in your shoes. Take care Sandra
  21. Hi Caren. I was glad to hear that your gp made a home visit. I was going to ask if a homecare nurse was available to you. Maybe they could come and treat the infected area when needed. And I agree with others, important to get this under control as treatments may not be able to be given if he has an active infection. I know we had to wait and start mine until my wound from my abscess was mostly cleared up. Best of luck with your upcoming med onc visit. Sandra
  22. I am a wuss regarding pain and would talk real fast.
  23. Good morning all. We are having a bit of an overcast week. I wish I could send some of it down to those who need it. We all need a good cry every once in awhile Judy. It does help. My treatment went ok yesterday. I ended up waiting for over an hour before I even got into the chair. Enough time to get more worked up. But the nurse was a very kind one I had before and she even remembered me. Only one miss on the IV and no talk of a port or pic. The infusion burned the whole time but it only took 10 minutes so I grinned and bore it. The vein in my arm is a bit red today so I will keep an eye on it. The nurse said next time they will infuse some hydrocortosone first so it is easier on my veins. But, all in all, better than I expected. Sorry to hear about your dog Muriel. Pets are on of the family. Have a great day all. Sandra
