  4. Hope you had a fun day at the car show Randy! Calintay, I live in Victoria and our weather is similar although the sun is peaking through at the moment. Bruce, I guess you sure did get your exercise looking for your poor dog. How scary! Glad you found him. I noticed that it has warmed up there considerably and believe you are having a fairly warm sunny day. You and the dog are probably all walked out though! Have a great Sunday everyone! Sandra
  5. Hi Lee. Welcome to this board. Wow have you been through a lot. But you sure do seem to have the right attitude. I can't help you with your technical question but I wanted to wish you well and look forward to getting to know you better on the board. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Sandra
  6. That's probably because you are an awesome cook Caren! Good news to hear that your dad is feeling better. I hope it continues. Sandra
  7. That is such good news Fred. YEAH for Kasey! Many many more good reports please, this is the kind of news we need to keep hearing! Continued best wishes Sandra
  8. YEAH Randy! Good on ya!
  9. Hi there. I had very similar first line treatment although I received the cisplatin and the etoposide together. I suffered a bit from chemo (mostly I think when I was getting off the anti-nausea drugs...you can be a bit "grumpy" getting off decadron) but overall it wasn't too bad to get through. I sailed through radiation with really no side effects. Everyone is different though and depending on the location of the radiation some suffer more with eating troubles. The most important thing to do while on chemo is drink, drink, drink. Plenty of fluids. Even if you don't feel like eating....drink. This helps in getting through the chemo a lot easier. Wishing your mom the best with her treatment plan. Sandra
  10. Hi Rich. Thanks for reminding us all of your inspirational story. And thanks for all your support to others on this board. Keep on reminding us...year after year. Take care Sandra
  11. Labor Day is in September in Canada as well!

    It's not cancer!

Wow Jan, that is awesome news. We were all so worried for you. Thanks for posting and letting us know. Please don't be a stranger. We need more good news stories such as yours on the board. Sandra
  13. Hi Heidi. That is just AWESOME news! May your dear mom stay NED for many many more years! Tell her good work and to keep up with whatever she is doing. Sandra
  14. Geesh...that is unbelievable!!! Not sure they had a ribbon ready either! Thanks Susan for coming to the rescue!
  15. Oh Judy, you are just too funny sometimes...maybe you are just having a few senior moments! Janet, wow, so good to hear after just one night that you have improvement with your tarceva troubles. Another glorious warm sunny day here. My son is still home sick but I am off for coffee with a neighbour. Geesh I sure never did that when I was working! But hey I have cancer...ha ha...just like you Janet, and I guess we do just get to do what we want to do sometimes. We are deserved. Have a happy Friday all! Sandra
  16. Hi Anne. Sorry to hear about your troubles with Alimta. I experienced similar so I can empathize with you. Your pond looks very peaceful. What an awesome job you guys did! I will bet you are looking forward to your Alaskan cruise. I hope you enjoy every minute of it! Sandra
  17. Good morning everyone. Happy and safe travels Judy. Janet....so sorry about your tarceva troubles. I experienced them for awhile and I know how awful they can be. Hopefully they can come up with a magic bullet for you. Mike, glad to hear you have grandkids nearby. I bet they help keep you young. It is a glorious sunny day here today. Had to pick up my sick son from school. Bad cold and of course all the kids at school are panicked over the swine flu. Apparently making face masks from paper was the activity of the day. I hope the panic about this slows down soon. We have one confirmed case on the island, a 30 year old lady who was in Mexico. Have a happy day everyone. Sandra
  18. Hi there and welcome to the site. I am so sorry to hear about your husband that you obviously love dearly. As others have said the beginning of this journey is so very scary but it does get better. Once you have a treatment plan in place you will focus on that. I echo that a LC diagnosis is not a death sentence. Do not let anyone tell you how long he has to live because they do not know and are only quoting statistics. None of us here are statistics and many many of us have outlived them by a mile. There is always HOPE and that is what you need to get yourselves into fighting mode. Please give us more information when you are able and let us know how both of you are doing. Sandra

    Navalbine

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences. My doctor kind of scared me yesterday. She said a certain percentage of navalbine patients develop flobitis (sp?) where the veins react badly and swell up. And then you need to get a pic line put in. The way she talked to me was almost like she was certain it was going to happen. I can only get IV's put in my left arm (they have never been able to find a useable one in my right arm) and my veins are pretty used up from previous chemo and my hospital stay in January. So I am a little worked up over that prospect. And of course, there is a chance of hair loss which I am really not looking forward to. I guess I am getting myself all worked up before I have even started. My last chemo was last fall and I just am not really looking forward to it. Guess I just need to suck it up! Anybody had flobitis or hair loss from navalbine?
  20. Way to go Kasey....you just keep rocking on girl! Connie, I am sending prayers for you, for a clean scan and nothing to worry about.

    Heaven

I haven't given much thought to what it will "look" like. Rather I think of what it will "feel" like. Full of love, joy, peace and comfort.
  22. Glad to hear things went well Ned and hopefully that continues. And you keep so busy with your printing jobs regardless. Good for you!

    It's a year!

Congrats on your one year survivorship Dana. It sure is one heck of a year isn't it! Wishing you many many more. Sandra
  24. I have no idea what Krystal cheeseburgers are either. I don't drive far for some special craving either. I guess there are enough good restaurants nearby. I do wish we had an Olive Garden in town though. I would probably drive a fair ways to go there.
  25. And a good morning to all from me as well. Glad to hear you are feeling better Judy and that you have the energy to get off your butt! ts, we are close neighbours. It was sunny here all day yesterday but the clouds and possible rain have arrived today. Forecast for the rest of the week is sun though. I hope your weather improves as well. Wishing you lots of luck with your treatment Ned and no nasty side effects. Yes having good neighbours is a blessing. We have many around us as well. Always at the ready to lend a helping hand. I had to get up real early for me so did not get my usual 9 hours sleep. Had an appt with my med onc. After a baseline CT I will be starting navelbine. Have an awesome day everyone! Sandra
