  3. Dear dear Carleen, I wish I could fix it for you, but I can't. All I can do is channel to you love and strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I agree with Ry and Rich that you could benefit from counseling: I don't believe it's selfish of you to do something to keep your head together at this point in time. I grieve with you over the little ones. That's a doubly hard thing to take right now. But know I see that you and Keith have something so very very rare that you are blessed, in my mind, to have found it at all, for a day, or a week, or a month, or a year. Love like that is very very special gift. So keep going one day at a time. Know we're all here for you, and there isn't much we wouldn't do if we could. Take the time please! to take care of your emotional well being. You have to be your own advocate here, although I'm sure anyone who loves you would want you to have any help you need. You're special to us, Carleen. One foot in front of the other. Remember we love you. XOXOXOX MaryAnn
  4. Lisa, dear Lisa, It is good to hear from you, but my heart bleeds at what you have gone through. At least your mother-in-law went away. Change of any kind can be terrifying when you are uncertain of yourself. You are right, Tariq keeps you anchored in the here and now, but you have to pick yourself up and go on sooner or later, no one is going to do it for you. I'm glad you've decided to go with homecare nursing, it sounds like you are so much more comfortable in that role. I hope Tariq takes advantages of his many opportunities and still has fun being a kid. Thank you for letting us know what's up with you, it's been a long time, and I'm relieved to have you touch base. God bless and keep you, XOXOXOX MaryAnn
  5. Lisa, Sorry you had to put up with morons. The DARE officer was decent about it when you spoke to him, and your little girl was very brave. I don't know what would have happened to my younger child, she's 10 now and for some reason they've discontinued DARE.. but my older daughter, in fifth grade, was so upset she was in tears telling a sympathetic teacher that her mother smoked and thus was a DRUG ADDICT. The teacher shushed her and told her she didn't want to ruin my reputation, did she? That was a year or two before I was diagnosed... By all means take the letter to the top. Even MDs have ethics: First do no harm. School teachers should certainly be aware of trying to do no harm. Geesh. My nickel's worth. XOXOX MaryAnn
  6. Good for you! Congratulations, Nushka! XOXOX MaryAnn

  8. Mark, I am sorry for your pain. Its depth is a measure of your love for Leslye, who was indeed a special lady. Hang in there. Life has its bittersweet moments. Don't be blind to the beauty of the spring -- it may help you center. Hugs, MaryAnn
  9. Shelley, You did good. I'm sorry you have to deal with medical stuff again. Hope your sister gets a clean set of tests. A cardiologist would know more. Thinking about you. XOXOXOX MaryAnn

  21. You are right -- there isn't a lot out there on Pancoast tumors, aka superior succulus (?) tumors. There's a good protocol for taking care of them (blasting them into oblivion) and there's an excellent surgeon here at NIH who is very good with Pancoast tumors. Welcome -- pancoasts are relatively rare, so I'm glad you found us. XOXOXOX MaryAnn
  22. Be well, Lillian. Our prayers are with you. XOXOX MaryAnn
  23. I think you might have replied in your original thread once or twice, and had several nice replies. Check there.
  24. Hi- I am glad you have found us. Your mom's treatment sounds much like mine, except for the last chemo. I've been here almost 6 years post diagnosis. They must have done something right. Keep us informed, and we're glad to have you (excepting the circumstances...). XOXOXOX MaryAnn
  25. Thank you, Michael, for telling us. God bless and strengthen your family at this sorrowful time. XOXOXOX MaryAnn
