  1. Dean, Eating is good, very good. My husband, although now undergoing chemo again, has been TIRED from the very beginning. Nothing seems to help. Talk to your dr., he may have some ideas. Good luck, Ginny
  2. Welcome Frank, I hope you get some good news for treatment on the recurrence. This is a great place to be for help and support. Ginny

    Dick Critical

Cheryl, Earl was on a venilator and trach when he first got sick. It took about 5 days to wean him off but he is okay that way now. Keep your chin up, there are a lot of friends here praying and thinking only good thoughts for you. Ginny
  6. Our primary did give us about a 3 week supply of Celebrex. Our onc. told me yesterday he is faxing 20 pages to the insurance co. to justify the rx. He said when you inundate them like that they always approve, they don't want to read it. Haha.
  7. Becky, You absolutely crack me up. You are so bright and so funny. No matter what the subject you are posting on, (ended phrase with a preposition, Yuk), you make me laugh and feel better. I never felt more like singing the blues, but I can't when I am reading your posts. Keep it up, dear Becky. Ginny

  10. Dear Greg, Here is to good news and a new line of treatment. I know that with my husband as long as they say there is a treatment, I feel better. Good luck. Ginny
  11. Donna, I think that my old password was stored somehow in my old AOL stuff. Now with a totally new AOL (my old one got corrupted), I just can't seem to sign on as ginnyd. Will keep trying. Rick has given me a new pw but can't seem to make it work. No big deal.
  12. Just an update. Earl had a port installed on Fri am. That went well. Then had his first Taxol/Carboplatin infusion. That went well. But we were at the hospital from 8:15 am to 6:15 pm. Loooooooong day. Friday night at 10:30 (while I was asleep on the couch) my darling husband decided to go for a walk. Well, as I have posted before, he walks like a man after 3/4 beers. You got it, he fell flat on his face on our asphalt driveway. Took him 1-1/2 hours to get in the house. I never heard him until he got into the house and I feel so GUILTY. He was covered with blood and soaking wet, it was raining. His face, hands and knees are skinned beyond belief, but no broken anything. My heart just breaks for him. I wish I had a magic wand. Saturday night we were scheduled to have our dinner group at our house. Earl insisted he wanted to have it. It is 3 other couples for hors' and dinner. He had a wonderful time, laughed, ate, drank and was extremely merry. And he got the big sympathy vote for his face. It was absolutely fantastic to see the smile and twinkle in his eye for a short time. He paid the price on Sunday, he was exhausted, but it was worth it. I am fighting our insurance company right now. They have refused the Celebrex rx. We are going to appeal it since even the onc. agrees that it seems to help with this chemo. Our hope right now is that this chemo either halts or shrinks the tumors. Please remember the Duke in your prayers. Ginny P.S. I bought him a cane first thing Sat am. I told him either he uses it or I will use it on him. He is using it - and I think he is glad.

    Estelle

I am so sorry to hear that Estelle is not doing well. I just think she is a darling. Of course, I will add an extra prayer for her. Ginny
  14. Dave, I once read that Nancy Reagan chewed each bite 19 times - this helped her stay thin. A little excessive - but - maybe you could do 5 chews. So very glad to hear that you heard good news. Yeah!!!!!!! Ginny
  15. Anniversaries are wonderful. Here's to many, many more. Ginny

  18. Dear Lauri, My heart goes out to you and your family. I am sure that your mother is in the throes of original dianososis and will begin to get some fighting spirit. I see you are in NJ. We are in PA (outside Phila). We go to Fox Chase Cancer Center and find it to be a great hospital, dedicated only to cancer. Will add your mother to my prayer list.
  19. Dear JC I am so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mike. May your warm and happy memories sustain you.

  22. Dear Estelle, I am so glad you are home from the hospital - not a fun place to be. Also glad that treatment is starting. As we have heard so often here, it just seems better if something has a big gun to shoot all those damn bad little cells. Hope all is well. Ginny
  23. I am proud to say that I am the lcsc listed and embarrassed to say I did not know my name when I donated the money. True to form of a woman I knew my visa number. You go John. Ginny
  24. Dear Estelle, Welcome back. The wbr was very successful with Earl.
  25. Dear Becky, I am joining your cheerleaders with hopes for good news.
