  1. Hi Beth, Glad to see your treatment was a little better this time. Hopefully as each day passes it will be a better day for you. Hopefully your sleeping patterns will improve also. I also want to apologize to you Beth. Karen was right about Bill's statement to you. Way to go Karen. Bill was out of line. I am sorry I didn't call him on it too in my earlier post. If we can't vent here where can we. Best wishes, Dee
  2. Hi Roanna, I'm glad you and Wayne have found such a wonderful place. I hope that the treatment goes well. As for the Gemzar I am no help as I have never been on that before. Best Wishes, Dee

  4. Cheryl, WOW!!! Those last few sentances say everything. Yes we do just go one doing what we have always done. I have been thinking of ways to make a difference. Your Dear Jack is right we do need to stand-up for yourselves and our loved ones. I think there that there are many here on this board that are and would be willing to do something, but have no idea where to start. What can we do? In November I've signed up for a walk for ALCASE. I have contacted the American Cancer Society to start a support group in my area , they are suppose to be sending me a book but have not received it yet. I have written to Oprah and the Montel Williams show to see if they would be willing to do a show about lung cancer with no response. The Montel Williams show did do a story last year on Barbara Tarbox, that had lung cancer. it was so heart touching. Should we write Congress, Senators? This board is wonderful but just maybe we can throw around some ideas to make a real difference. Thank-You Cheryl and Jack. Look forward to some ideas that we all can work on. Best Wishes, Dee
  5. Andrea, Sorry to hear that you Mom has been taken off Iressa. HOpefully she will start to feel better soon. Hope that Tarcevoa will work for her when it comes out. Best wishes, Dee

    OPRAH

Hi Jane, I emailed Oprah also back in July. Hopefully the same person will get both emails so they can see there is a need for such a story. The Montel Williams did a show on the Barbara Tarbox story months ago. It was the most heart wrenching story I have seen. I emailed The Montel Williams show when that was aired and never heard anything from them. Maybe we just need to keep writing until someone will help us get the message out. Best Wishes, Dee
  9. I really didn't crave anything during treatment. Not that I can remember anyway. Lately I have been craving peanut butter. Can't keep it in the house. If I'm not eating a peanut butter sandwich, i have a spoon full of it. I don't double dip. Really never cared for peanut butter before now. I the one thing I can't eat anymore is chinese food. I really use to like it. I would get take out about every two weeks or so, but I can't remember the last time I had it. Dee
  10. Grace, Nuska explained everything. Best wishes to you and your dad. Dee
  11. Hi Jim, Stable is great. My favorite word. Like everyone has said so far enjoy being chemo free. Best wishes, DEE
  12. Hi Rich, It is a very powerful addiction. I know it is very hard to quit. I smoked from the time I was about 13-14 yrs. old until I was 43, thats 30 yrs., I got sick in June of 2002. I came down with pleurisy. I was perfectly fine on moment and the next I had pain shooting in my right side. After they took an x-ray they told me they saw a spot. I knew that was not good news. I quit a couple of days after that. I was very sick. It was so strange, sometimes when I received to most awful news is when I wanted a cigarette the most. So when the urge hit me I asked myself do you want to die, and the answer of course is no. There are times I still want one, and it has been two years. I know I can never pick up one again. There is no such thing as one drag. I have even dreamed about them. The other day I reached for a pack that wasn't even there. I think you really need to quit for yourself and no one else. Take one hour at a time. Also you need to keep yourself busy. When the urge hits you get busy doing something, the urge will pass. Best wishes, Dee
  13. Hi JD, Everyone is different. I really did not have that hard of time with the radiation. My throat did get a little sore, but manageable. I knew that I still needed to eat, if it hurt I still made myself eat. Although the pain was not that bad. Never needed pain pills or any other meds for my throat. I did get a bad case of indigestion after my treatment, but it has stopped. The radiation actually made me feel better. Before treatment I would get these coughing spells that would last for hours. Hard to rest, couldn't talk a lot because when I talked I would start coughing. Best Wishes Dee
  14. Yeah Beth what great news. First baby steps then leaps and bounds. Heres to everyday being an improved day. Keep that chin up. Dee
  15. I was given both also. I never had a problem with it. Talk to the doctors and let them know how it is making you feel. Make sure they really understand how sick this is making you. Best wishes, Dee
  16. Thanks for sharing that. Best wishes, Dee
  17. Ginny, I am so sorry for your loss.
  18. Bill, Yes I had problems also. I even joked with my husband to just completely ignore all the new sounds I was making unless he heard a thump. It helps to laugh at things sometimes. All joking aside my sounds did stop after my treatment. Best wishes, Dee
  19. Hi Beth, Glad to see you almost finished with with the first round of treatment. Hopefully your throat will start to feel better soon. Just try to continue to eat. Remember soft thingsand lukewarm temps work best . But again I never had the yeast infection like you have. Here's to you feeling better soon both physically and mentally. Remember you can always pm or call me. Best wishes, Dee
  20. Terry, Please get a second opinion.
  21. Bill, I had chemo and radiation at the same time. Well they started me on the radiation first and then added the chemo. I did fine with it. But I know they said it really can take a lot out of you doing both together. Best Wishes, Dee
  22. Hi Bill, I'm sorry that I can't help with the Gemzar as I was never on that chemo. My docs never gave me a port. I really don't know why either because I was on chemo once a week for three weeks and then off a week. I can't even count the times I was stuck, between the drawing the blood and the chemo treatment. Best wishes Dee
  23. Dear Justakid, Check your PM. Dee
  24. I am so sorry for your loss.
