  4. Hello Kathie; Welcome, I'll be praying your tests come out well. Glad you found us, you will find good information and very caring people here. Yes, it's cancer but we don't have to go through it alone. God bless and be well Bobmc- NSCLC- stage IIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"
  5. Hello Lauri; Also wanted to welcome you and let you know how very sorry I am that your mom was diagnosed with this terrible disease. I'm almost a 2 & 1/2 yr. survivor now but still remember the early days of anguish, confusion and anger at being diagnosed. It unfortunately goes with the disease and does effect the entire family. Yes, it's not fair but still we have to deal with it. The wonderful thing about this board is that you don't have to do it alone, others are with you, you will find much knowledge and caring people here. I live just a bit north of you in Northern NJ. I was operated on in Morristown, NJ and got second opinions at Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute. What you will find in this entire area is excellent Medical facilities and staff, Fox Chase as others have said is amoung the best. Get, information, write your questions down and by all means get second opinions. again welcome, sorry your here but also glad you found us God bless, be well and your mom will be in my prayers. Introduction

Hello Alisa; Welcome and so very glad you found us. I'm also a stageIIB, dx.'ed in April of 2001 with squamous type. I came down with pneumonia in late Feb. which led to the discovery of the cancer. So very glad I came down with that now. Also had nodes involved but just one. My follow up has been ct scans, x-rays and bloodwork every 3 to 4 months for 2 years and now every 6 months. I had the left lung removed on 5/2/01. I tolerated the surgery pretty well and had no follow up chemo or radiation. . I'm not really into alot of the alternative med.'s but I do watch my health pretty close and I do love my herbal tea. I also do have residual pain, it's actually worse the second year and I take Vioxx for it ( similar to Celebrex ). I am pretty active though and enjoy travel, golf and photography as well as talking to other survivors. Anyway, welcome again. God Bless and be well Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"
  16. Hello Diane; Good to hear from you and even though your dad's been through the ringer, I'm happy He was operable and they were able to remove the cancer. ; Also, glad his spirits are up, for me that was real important. They took my left lung and I managed to bounce back pretty quick. I was 50 at the time and in decent shape although I used to smoke. I needed the oxygen after surgery for about a month. It was good to have it at night as your O2 level drops then. It Helped me to get rest but took some time to get used to. Also, tell him to take the pain med,'s as prescribed and keep a pillow handy to put under the right arm when he coughs. Also, helps with the pain. The healing process is a bit slow so again it's important to keep the spirits up. Remember, others have been there, and it will get better. God bless, be well and hang in there Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"

  19. Hi there Mony; I just wanted to say your doing a wonderful thing and this SURVIVOR just wants to thank you. So thanks alot, it means much to many of us!! I see you have lots of sites so I will not add any. Also, I had surgery, like your freinds mom will get and I'm doing just fine today. That was almost 2 & 1/2 years ago. You might want to let her know we're here if she wants to talk. God bless you and thanks again Bobmc- NSCLC-stage IIB- left pneumonectomy - 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"
  20. Thanks Candee, Think I just might be able to make that one. Sounds interesting. Glad your with us, getting to be quite a few of us from Jersey, been thinking about a NJ Lung cancer support group, can't find a single one in the state. I got a couple numbers from Cancer Institute of NJ, I'm gonna give them a call and see what they say. They have support groups for breast ( of course), prostate, cancer in general, and even one for ****'s with cancer Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against that but in my mind there certainly needs to be one for LUNG CANCER. So anyway, I'm off and running, I'll post when I know more. thanks again for the inf. God bless and be well Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"

Must of drove ya up a wall.!! Glad you found us and don't worry about venting or the length of the message. Were kinda like one big family here, not always happy but we help one another deal with this d---- disease. Interesting, your the first one I've heard of that's doing the Thalidomide trial. I saw the PBS TV special on it awhile ago, I think it was titled Cancer Warriors or something like that. Again welcome and glad your with us, God bless and be well Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 " absolutely insist on enjoying life today!"
