  5. Hi MIke, I just want to welcome you to this group. I personally don't know much about SCLC, but you will see that there is a forum here that is just for that kind of cancer. You should be able to get a lot of useful information from there. Whether it be NSCLC or SCLC, we all have the same emotional burden to bear. People here are so very kind and compassionate. I hope that you will find comfort in knowing you aren't alone in this battle . Sending prayers for you, your Dad and your family. sue

  7. Peg, Thank you for the beautiful New Year's wish. This being the first New Year's eve without your husband must be very hard . May God be with you. God Bless, sue
  8. Wendy , My sister, who lives with mom and dad, takes care of their diabetic cat. He is 13 years old and has been diabetic for , I think , 3 years now. He became quite thin and walked all hunched up etc... You would not believe he was the same cat now.. She gives him insulin shots twice a day & feeds him special food from the vet. Now the cat, has gained his weight back, has a beautiful shiney coat, and plays like a kitten. It took a while to get him regulated on the amount of insulin, but once they did it worked like magic. I have to tell you that she would have been voted the most unlikely to be sticking a needle in anyone or any animal, but to save his life, she did it . Anyhow, just know that you aren't alone in that journey either.. My best to you. sue
  9. My prayers included for that cure and my prayers for everyone here for a healthier 2005... Happy New Year all. Love, sue
  10. (((Cheryl))) Cheryl, take a deep breath and take it one day at a time. This disease is such a roller coaster of emotions and full of challenging situations. I can feel your fear and I wish I could make it go away. I hope you can take strength from the people here that have gone through this ahead of you and most of all from all the prayers being sent your way. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless, sue

  13. Welcome Jackie, I'm so glad you joined us. It is really a help to know that you aren't alone in this world and trying to cope with a cancer diagnosis. Every case and every person is different , but the one thing that I think helps is support. The support that I have gained here, as a caregiver, has helped me tremendously. Many of the members here have a wonderful survivors attitude. Most folks here consider themselves "warriors" , not "victims". They are focused more on life than death. I would suggest that you read here as much as you can and dwell on the positive. I think you will be able to take with you the right attitude to help your mom fight focus on winning this battle. My thoughts and prayers are with you. sue
