  1. One Flaw In Women Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally.! They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart. Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning. They bring joy, hope and love. They have compassion and ideas. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have vital things to say and everything to give. HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN, IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.
  2. Love this one, Charlie!!! Thanks for the good laugh today!
  3. Lynda, if you have any doubts about the answere your oncologist are giving your dad, I would certainly encourage you to get a second opinion. Some oncologists tend to be more agressive in their treatment plans than others. You may get the same response from another doctor but at least you will feel that you have explored more possibilities. When my husband was diagnosed, we were given the same diagnosis....incureable, inoperable but treatable in order to buy some time. Because my husband had extensive small cell lung cancer, I believe this diagnosis was correct and our wonderful doctor tried everything in his power to save my husband. I hope you get the answers you need to make you feel comfortable with your dad's treatment. Saying prayers that all goes well.

Good one, Geri!!! Got a big smile out of this. I would have said the bucket!!! Get a room ready...I'm packing!
  5. Sunday Morning sex ..... I will never hear church bells ringing again without smiling... Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her. When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning." Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble. Oh no, my dear," replied granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even... Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong." She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along."
  6. Frank...this is a good one. I give this one a four donut rating!

    Energy Future !!!

Larry, I have never been able to understand how we can send men to the moon but have not been successful in finding more alternative energy sources. Dennis once did extensive research into cars that were capable of running on fuels other that gasoline. He found that several have been designed (and prototypes manufactured) but the person responsible for the research and design would wind up dead. Their deaths would always be a supposedly mysterious death...go figure. The big oil companies do not want to see these fuel alternatives. To take this in another direction, Dennis always felt the same about our government and cancer treatment. Up to the day he died, he truly believed that "somewhere under a building in our nation's capitol" (Dennis's words) the cure for cancer was hidden. He believed that if a cure for cancer was made available, this country could not survive the financial impact that cure would cause. Think of the drug companies, the doctors, the treatment centers that would all be out of business should a cure be found. Maybe this was merely the thinking of a dying man?
  8. Welcome Brenda. Your dad sounds like a real fighter, well armed to battle this disease. My husband was given Zometa and suffered no pain from the medication. I believe I have heard of people that did have problems with Zometa. I'm sure someone on the board will be able to give you more information. Please tell your mom that we would love to have her join us.

  10. I am so glad they found your dad's problem, Eppie. I'm saying prayers that he improves quickly. As for you...remember to take care of Eppie. The role of caregiver is a tough one. It's so easy to really let yourself run out of steam when you're running in so many directions. There are so many people depending on you right now so please remember to take some time to care for yourself. Yep...our cindi is a real gem! Have no idea what I would do without her either!
  11. Instead of buying a big screen television...you stack two 19" televisions on top of each other.

    Poem

Thanks so much for this one! How very true. So many times we seem to focus our thoughts on dying and when we will die rather that thinking about how much living we can do!
  13. Janet, my heart really reaches out to you right now. I know the pain and emptiness you are feeling, as do many others on this board. Your expression of love for Ron is beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. I can assure you that someday, the horrible memories of Ron's illness will leave you and only the most beautiful and touching memories will remain. I see that music has always been a very special part of your life with Ron. That will also continue. I can't begin to tell you how many times I will be thinking of Dennis and hear a song on the radio that is so right for the moment. It's almost like a sign that Dennis is there with me....singing along with the words. I will continue to remember you and Ron's mom in my prayers. I know the pain of losing a husband but just cannot begin to understand or know the pain associated with losing a child.
  14. Melinda, I would definitely recommend Moffit Cancer Center for that area. I have heard many great success stories from Moffit patients. If you could PM KarHart, I'm sure she could share the most information with you, as her husband is a Moffit patient.
  15. Calling all cooks for this one. If you were told that you could only have five spices(excluding salt & pepper) in your kitchen, which five would you have to choose in order to do your style cooking?
  16. cindi...Me thinks me should bring KarHart with me to the pub, as my boss screwed up our lunch plans on Monday! How's about it, Karen?
  17. Such very good news! Come on mom...jump on board. I'd love you to join us!!!
  18. Beth...So sorry to hear your dad is having a rough time. I'm rembering both of you in my prayers.

    nurses

Yes...we have wonderful nurses that are members of our group!!! When Dennis was ill, we encountered many wonderful and caring nurses that I still keep in contact with after three years. I agree that nurses often do not get the credit they deserve.
