#25 done with good blood work and some fatigue
When I got to the cancer clinic I was check out before I could get in the building. There are no guests allowed. Something new, everyone was wearing a mask, no smiles from my nurses, no newspaper or mags. Doc said he is not sure I can get #26 if someone in the clinic tests positive for Corvid 19.  All CT's are on hold so no final result (was ned last check). The clinic has 8 pods with 8 chairs each and now there are just 3 chairs in a pod to keep us away from the other patients.
I found out last week that many of the groceries in town allow online orders and pay with delivery or pick at the store, they bring to your car.
good luck to my fellow Durvies..
Joke #1    I know a great joke about Corona Virus, you probably won't get it though.
Bonus joke...  Day 3 without sports. Found a lady sitting on my couch yesterday. Apparently she is my wife. She seems nice.

#23 is in the bag. Blood work good. CT says grossly unchanged. Said something about a 3mm nodule in lower right but I think it may have been on a previous scan months ago. I’m not worried because we all know Imfinzi can cause weird stuff. Oncologist’s office was strange-very few patients and very spread out. Hope all are well during this weirdness. Not only do we have to stay home, the pollen count is so high the cars are green don’t wanna go outside. Enjoy the weekend all.

#4 done and dusted . Solo 3 hour trip to treatment centre and back as no support person allowed into unit. Persistent cough and mild shortness of breathe. Doc listened to chest and clear of noise. Bloods all stable and within normal parameters. Still couple months away from next CT scan. New Zealand in strict lockdown. Only essential workers allowed out homes or if have ssentialntravel like mine yesterday. Slow increase in numbers of positive cases but last 3 days been almost static . Some people not playing by isolation rules and getting a hard word from either their community or the system

Thanks for everyone’s positive approach and goodwill

Hi Babs   ..Please complain.. this is the place to do that and it helps to inform others that may think it's just them.  My side effects started to go away after infusion #9,  my thing was fatigue because they were not checking my TSH and I went up to 130+, now down to 5.1 with medication. Tell you doc of your side effects, he may be able to help with that. Hope you get great CT results..

Hi Polly it's good hear your on your way with Durva and your killing your cancer. I look at side effects as part of the battle going on in your cells with the Chemo and radiation still in the fight and now getting help from Durva. It's OK for you to call your Doc anytime you have a worry and he-she may have some help for you & or ask here and someone may have an answer.

Well I do not know how much the Durva came into play for me, I only had 5 infusions of it, and that sent my health into a downward spiral, but happy day today clear scan and I am on cloud 9! Thank you for all the good vibes and words of encouragement, I am grateful, Kate

Tomm-Excellent on #23. The countdown is on and your finish line is just around the corner. Opal and I have crossed the finish line with NED.....and speaking for myself.....the fatigue is gone and the wonkyness of the Durvalumab coursing thru my veins are gone. My stamina and endurance have improved and I find it mentally and emotionally refreshing to not have to plan another visit for another infusion. In a lot of ways, I feel I have gained back the normality in my life.
Now with the Covid-19 on our heels, another annoyance to contend with but being NED makes it just that, another annoyance like a pesky mosquito. Due diligence will get us thru this "crisis", the same due diligence, intelligence and fortitude that got us thru Durvalumab.
Today I officially cancelled our trip to the Pacific Northwest. We did good as no losses were incurred except for a teeny tiny smidgen of disappointment for our celebratory end of treatment indulgence. No biggie, there will be time later for celebration.
Grahame-You are on your way, though at the beginning of your journey. I hope that those of us who have traveled your road provides you with inspiration to keep putting one foot in front of the other, and to use this forum to support you, educate you and get you to the finish line. With your background, you are fortunate to have a huge knowledge base to address your symptoms. I think Tomm said it best, a lot of the annoyances (side effects) was and is part of the price in (hopefully) extending our overall survival and halting progression. Hope is omnipresent.

Kate and Barb ...Great news to hear NED from two today.  I know Barb was concerned about the side effects before you started to get Durva and you got the best one NED!!

Well here I am waiting for #22. Saw the onc. She also states CTs are better than PETs and she’s not worried about it. Asked her how will we know if I get to NED. “I consider you NED and you are all scar tissue”. Woohoo

Babs ... turmor scar tissue and no signs of cancer cells is great news. I am NED and the scar tissue still shows on my CT. It is advised that we all get our thyroid checked, it was the cause of my fatigue. I was given levothyroxine and in about 6 weeks fatigue much less. Have your husband take notes so you can read them at home, it helped me.

    Hi,
Tomm - Thanks for the info.  Do you think your side effects went away because of the meds?  My Onc was thinking about starting me on steroids today as the CT showed some “activity, inflammation, fluid” but wasn’t real concerned, especially when I told her my back pain and shortness of breath seemed to be getting a little better.  She thought we should watch it and see what happens going forward.  I agreed.  She did say the original tumor is “scar tissue now with no signs of cancer cells”.  Good I guess?  Amazing how you think you understand everything being said and later question what you heard. I even had hubby with me. 😆

Hope all is well with you and the rest here.  I have yet to know all your stories.
    Take care,
    Babs

Kate 7617- You had mentioned once before my optimism and I appreciated the compliment. I don't know if it's my optimism or plain old stubbornness that has gotten me this far in life.....But I do soldier on in the face of adversity and tackle each problem individually as best I can, as best as the resources available affords me. That is really all we can do. When diagnosed, I studied the standards of care and knew that I was among the droves who would get Chemo-radiation followed by Durvalumab. What I did NOT understand was all the twists and turns that came from that simple treatment plan. Naivety, trust and and a little bit of the doe in the headlights got me through some tough times. I also was too busy pretending to be healthy attending to family and friends, as I told no one of my cancer diagnosis but my husband and two sons.....it remains that way today. Was it my stubbornness that refused to believe in any other outcome but NED and there was no need to involve others in what I perceived as a temporary set back? Who will ever know.
Please give yourself credit and lots of it for fighting the fight. I might have mentioned it before but my girlfriends dad at 84 is 7 years NED after only chemo and radiation. I'm sure there are many other survival stories that may not be on social media. Always, and I mean always remain  hopeful, there is no other alternative. I have cancer and there are varying statistics as to my outcome, but I will always remain hopeful that my cancer will be controlled or arrested to afford me to live a little longer each and every month, each and every year. Pick your battles, draw up your game plan and go girl go. As my son loves to tell me, "Focus Mom, focus".
Freaken scans are the worse, you want them to validate no more cancer but you also know there's the other side of the coin, which by the way, we all know takes up 99% of our frenetic energy. Monday will come soon enough, you have a few days to watch a favorite movie, or have lunch with a girlfriend or take that long neglected bubble bath. You are alive now, and that is a very good thing. I send my prayers to you for peace and good results.
By the way, Opal should be chiming in soon about her scan results.....inquiring minds want to know.
