  1. Oh, I don't know what to say that hasn't been said. How insensitive!!!! Unbelievable! What did your husband think? Did he notice? (Sometimes my hubby is so tuned out to things that it darn near kills me!). Anyway, Fay, please know we totally understand. My son is just beginning medical school and I'm gonna share this one with him -- hopefully to his amazement.

It was good to see you post. You do sound terribly busy though. I hope that once you get into your new house, you'll be able to take a breather. I'm glad that you have many friends who are there for you and Faith. Remember there are many of us here for you but in a different way.

I've been thinking of you and Faith and keep you in my prayers.

  3. Thanks for the update. I have been thinking about Cathy too. I'm glad she's surrounded by her loved ones and hope she knows how many of us here are thiking about her.

  4. Hi Melinda

My father will be going on Tarceva next week. I've been asking about this "rash thing" and if it indicates that it is working or not. I've had several responses and it seems that no one really knows. So I guess we won't get any early indications; it will depend on the scans.

Best of luck to your mom.

  5. Welcome back to "normal" life, although it includes work! I understand your feelings about that one too. May you continue that routine road in good health.

  6. Good for Claire. Quitting is not easy. I remember I didn't tell anyone for about a week -- fear of failure, I guess. I froze my last pack of cigarettes and didn't throw them out for about 10 years! As for the munchies, carrot sticks sound like a grreat idea. I became an addict to the sugarless lifesavers and still am some 20 years later. Don't quite know if the aspartame is good for me (controversial studies) but i know the nicotine was not.

You're a great friend to Claire.

  7. I remember my mother-in-law having shingles shortly after chemo for breast cancer. Hope your husband's shingles get under control quickly. Enough is enough!

I'm so sorry to hear about your Pop. Please know that he fought a good fight and that you were there for him, caring about him, every inch of the way and he knew it.

My sincere condolences to you and your family.

  9. Welcome back Nell. We can always use more support here but please remember that we are here to support you too. Let us know how you've been doing during your very difficult time.

Again, it's good to hear from you.

  10. My father, age 81, has had adeonocarcinoma with BAC features for almost 5 years now - stage 3b. Recently he experienced his 3rd recurrance in his lung and the oncologist is probably going to put him on Tarceva. My questions:

    1. Has it worked for you and if so, for how long?

    2. Did you get the rash and if so, how did you treat it?

    3. Did you get the "runs" with it?

    4. Are you aware of any research that says it usually seems to work better if you get the rash?

    5. Is there anything else that I should know about Tarceva?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

    Gail
