  1. Hi Susan, It's been awhile since I've checked in. Great news about your mom. I hope she continues to do well. Shelley
  2. Patti, I think the Dr. was taken by surprise with the good scan results. Her last one post Tarceva was not good at all and he did not present THAT news at all well. I think he assumed that despite starting a new chemo, she would continue to worsen...I love proving him wrong! I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well. Shelley
  3. Wonderful to hear from you Ned. I hope all is well. Life has been pretty busy here in Reno and I am not able to post as much as I did in the past. I do check in frequently though. Shelley
  4. Mom's recent PET scan showed some shrinkage and otherwise STABLE disease! We are all so happy for her. For those of you that don't know me or my mom, they found stage IV disease in December 2006. Although she has been on chemo since her diagnosis, with only one very short break, mom continues to live life to the fullest. Please don't give up hope. Anything is possible. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you! Shelley
  5. Hi Rich....thanks for posting. This is just what my mom needs to hear right now. It was good to hear from you. Shelley
  6. Hi Susan, please wish your mom a happy belated birthday from me! Shelley
  7. I'm so very sorry to read your sad news Marci. May the love of family and friends help you through this difficult time. Shelley
  8. I'm so sorry Denise. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Shelley
  9. So sorry Nick....I know that your mom is with all of you even though you can't see her. I'm sure you will be telling Sophie all kinds of stories about your mom. I'm sure you have many wonderful memories to share. Shelley
  10. Hi Susan, I am so glad to hear that things went well with your Dad and you are able to spend time with bothof your parents. Good wishes going out to the whole family!!! Shelley
  11. Hi, my husband and I are both in the medical field. I can tell you that they always have the results within 24 hours and probably the same day. I am sure they can be sent to you and or the Dr's office immediately. My mom always has the radiology department send me a faxed report. I seem to receive that the same day as her scan. I can understand the logistics of sending the report so that the Dr. will have it in his hand when you are in the office, but I think a few days is more than adequate for that I'm so sorry you have to wait so long. It's really not fair to ask that of a patient. Shelley
  12. Hi Carole, I'm happy to see you back on the boards. It's great that you're feeling better. It sounds like you are going to be quite busy. I did a huge scanning project last year....very tedious, but well worth it. I have to tell you about my mom's pill story from this week. She and her boyfriend have lived together for years. He is so good about making sure she takes her pills (which she used to forget all the time) I guess the other day, he told her she should probably take her pills a little early as they were heading out somewhere. She agreed and came down to the kitchen and took the 4 pills he had laid out. The trouble was, they were HIS blood pressure and diabetes pills! AFter a flurry of phone calls to the ER, poisen control and her Onc....everyone decided all would be fine and they just had her start her Tarceva the next day..... It's always something! Good luck with your projects and stay feeling good! Shelley
  13. Jude, I was so sorry to hear about Don. He was such a very special person to all of us and I can see that you were blessed to have each other. He will be missed around here more than I can say. He was so generous in sharing his time, advice and experiences with everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very sad time. Shelley
  14. My Mom tolerated Alimta very well. I think she had 6-7 cycles of it before being switched to a different chemo due to slight progression. Good luck. Shelley
  15. Amanda, I am so sorry to read this very sad news. Your Dad was such an inspiration to so many here, including me. We will all miss "seeing" him. He was a very special person and I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you and your family. Please know that many of us are grieving with you today. Our memories of your Dad and his posts will always be with us. Shelley
  16. I'm so very sorry Pat. I wish I had any words at all that would help. I'm sure he is somewhere watching over you. He sounds like a wonderful person. I wish that I could have know him. Shelley

    NED Again !!

Ken, that is WONDERFUL news! I am so happy for you. What a great way to start the new year. Shelley
  18. It was 3 years ago this month (just before Christmas) that my mom had the Chest CT for a lingering cough that brought her to where she is today. Although she wasn't "formally" diagnosed until the end of January, the nurse in the Physicians office read the radiology report to mom over the phone on December 23, 2006 and we all knew it was cancer. I want the newer members here to know that this will be the 3rd Christmas my mom has shared with us since that horrible diagnosis. Like all of you, I read everything I could get my hands on when we found out she was stage IV......I don't need to tell you what the stats said! Anyway, forget the stats, because my very best Christmas present this year is that my mom is here to spend it with us. We had so little hope in the beginning and hope and the belief that things don't HAVE to happen a certain way are so very important in this battle. So, I am sending out special Christmas thoughts and prayers to all of you. My Christmas wish is that they find a treatment for this horrible disease and until then, we all keep hoping and praying for the very best for our loved ones. Merry Christmas! Shelley
  19. Hi Sandy and welcome. I am so sorry to hear about your dad, but you have found an incredible source of help, hope and support. Please let us know how things go at the appointment. I'm sure you will have a plan in place soon, which will help a great deal. Shelley
