  1. I ran across this last night while looking for my 2006 forms. It was something that I did not know. If you file taxes, it will be on your tax form. If you are not required to file taxes, you can still get the refund by filling out a special form. I know a lot of retired and diabled peope locally that are on fixed income and no longer file taxes. I thought that perhaps someone on here could benifit or know someone that can benifit from it. I know that this is not Cancer related and probably belongs in another forum. More people read this forum then any other so I thought that perhaps we could leave it here for a couple weeks and then move it or delete it all together. No hard feelings but just wanted to make people aware of it. http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,, ... 32,00.html
  2. I have a friend whom was diagnosed in 2003 about the same time I was. I was diagnosed first and then him. Sience I had already been through it he sort of looked to me as what to expect. Sort of a buddy system you might say. Anyway, he had one lobe removed. He didn't get chemo or radiation at the time. He was told this week that it was back. The new tumor is pressing on his aurota valve, thus making it in-operable. The news has really bothered me today. We were both proud of the fact that we were doing so well. Anyway, I won't bog you down with this news. What I do need to know is some tips for him when he goes through radiation. Altho I have been there, my mind won't function too well right now. He is scheduled to see the doctor Friday to see exactly what the plan of attack is. Chemo and radiation for sure but what chemo is not known yet. I thank you for your time. Hope everyone has a great New Year.

  5. Yep!!!! That banker must be Milburn Drysdale.
  6. Egg Nog. Can I have a piece of fruitcake to go with it?
  7. So that's where my money has been going. All this time I thought my wife was spending it. No wonder she is broke everyday.
  8. Now there is one smart boy.
  9. I know where you are coming from, Debi. I am always thinking of the "what if's" when it comes to change. It would be a pretty dull world if we stayed put for life and didn't step out on the limb of chance once in a while. Do this for yourself Debi and like others have said, look at this a a away to further help your son.
  10. Hi Dawn, Sorry you had the need to hunt us down, but welcome to the board. First of all you need to stop and take a deep breath. I know how shocked you are to hear the word...Cancer. Everyone of us here remembers when the doctor said CANCER. Sience you don't know for sure what type or stage, don't borrow trouble. It could be early stage or it could be late stage. Slow down and get a plan of attack in place. There are plenty of us here that will travel this journey with you. We will cry with you or laugh with you, whichever you need. Don't feel guilty about getting engaged. I am sure your mother would want that for you. Also don't let her see you fall apart. Come here as you need to and keep us posted on any updates. Good Luck.
  11. Thanks Cindi. I really needed this one today. It brought a warm smile to my face. Been a while sience I had one of those. I am printing it out and placing it by my computer.
  12. If I understand correctly, the is a 6 month wait period required by federal law. However if you qualify, you can get SSI for which there is no waiting period. you should definatly talk to SS tho. Good Luck and stay with us so we can help you through this journey. Keep us posted. http://www.socialsecurity.gov/OP_Home/c ... 4-0315.htm
  13. The mountains of course. They are predicting a good show of fall colors here in Tennessee. I won't get to Dollywood this year tho. Perhaps a Sunday drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC will do.
  14. 6 foot 6 (Tennessee Ernie Ford) Think this is a title. If not it is first line....

    Job Issue

You have gotton some good advice here. I would like to add that with the 170.00 per week you are looking at on short term disability, that should have no effect on you signing up for SSDI. If my memory serves me correct, I was told they could process my claim while drawing STD. They treat it as income and there is a limit on the amount you can make (or draw) per month and still qualify for SSDI. There is 6 month wait period for SSDI so if you can get the 170.00 then at least you won't be totaly broke for the 6 months. My advice is sign up. Get the paperwork started. At least you will have the ball in motion. Good Luck.
  16. I vote in all elections. I vote for the candidate on their platform not their party.
  17. Don't know how to answer about your dad not responding to antibotics. I can tell you this tho, I have had pneumonia 3 times since surgery in 2003. It is not uncommon. Hope he improves. Keep us posted.
  18. Jen was a wonderful person from what I could gather from her posts. She is missed. Best wishes to you and the family. Come post as often as you like. We would love to hear from you.
