  1. I must have lied on the test because I know I'm a control freak - although I try not to be one. As a result of the test I'm now a team player, with a score of 4. Muriel K
  2. We met in 1958 on a blind date - for coffee on campus. We're still friends with the couple who arranged this. Neither of us were "into" blind dates, but our mutual friends insisted. It was his little red mg, fraternity presidency, and high grades as a philosophy major that convinced me to meet him. (The last guy I had dated was on the brink of failing out of school.) We married in 1961 when he was working on his Ph.D (in psychology). Last weekend end we celebrated our 44th anniversary! Muriel K
  3. Glad to hear that Lucie is feeling better. Hope the magic mouthwash continues to help. Are her blood counts ok? MurielK
  4. If the gift certificate includes airfare to Washington National, we'll be dining at Nizams in Vienna, VA. It's a great Turkish restaurant. The Doner Kabob is marvelous. The certificate is for two, isn't it? Muriel K
  5. My thoughts and prayers are with you, too. You might let the hospital staff know about the chicken cult and their plans. Maybe the doctor will let you out sooner then. Muriel K
  6. I had some mouth sores from Carbo and Taxol and can sympathize with Lucie. I had cisplatin and Gemzar the second time I had chemo (2/05 - 6/05)and didn't have any mouth sores. The cisplatin made me really sick, but my reaction to the Gemzar (every other time I received only Gemzar)was very mild. By the way, fudge sauce on the ice cream might be good for Lucie, too. How many more treatments? Muriel K
  7. Emla is another numbing cream with the same "ingredients." My onc.s office uses something that "freezes" the skin. I don't know if it's better or worse than the cream. Muriel K
  8. I agree with Jim. When you've lived through these things, they aren't cool! Even worrying about a hurricane is scary. Muriel K
  9. Another fun one! Places I've lived are in bold. Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin. Lived in 9; visited another 21 - if my math is correct. Muriel K[/b]

Can't think of anything to say, either, except how sad I am for her family. Here's a link to her obituary in the Richmond paper: http://www.legacy.com/TimesDispatch/Leg ... d=15031455 Muriel K
  11. Fun question. Born in Minneapolis, MN St. Louis Park, MN Bloomington, MN Richfield, MN for 3 months St. Paul, MN So, now you think I've spent most of my live in MN. Not so. We left St. Paul at the end of Grad. school (I was 28) Then: San Diego, CA Kent, OH - you've heard of Kent State 1970? We were there. Norman, OK Madison, WI Pittsburg, PA Kalamazoo, MI Vienna and then Fairfax, VA Orlando area. Wanna guess my husband's occupation? Not athletic coach! Muriel K
  12. "Gail I wish you nephew all the luck, and hope he makes it to the majors one day!" Hey, he just did make it to the majors! The Wash. Nationals are a major league team. This is their first year. I think they came from/were stolen from Cleveland, but I'm not sure. Maybe it was Montreal. Best wishes for Ryan's success. Muriele K
  13. That's fun. The animals are worth more points than the people! Muriel K
  14. Good luck Cindi. Apparently my limited understanding of German has failed me. I don't understand the game. It seems, from the instructions, that you are to shoot the beer drinker. I can't find one. Besides that, I'm getting very high negative scores. HELP Muriel K

    Wonderful news! Celebrate! Muriel K
  16. Thanks Don. I always look forward to your responses to people's concerns/problems. MurielK
  17. I can't figure out where to post this, so I'm putting it here. My "read" on it is that one or more of her kids is/are really mean. Person's Name [Name], died peacefully on August 24, 2005 at the age of 77 of heart disease which resulted from her smoking cigarettes from 1947- 1981. She worked as a nurse for over three decades at Eitel Hospital and Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. She ended her nursing career as the head nurse in the Well- Baby Nursery at Abbott- Northwestern, where she cared for thousands of babies and families and touched many lives with her teaching. 18. I think $12 is quite reasonable. Looking forward to seeing it. Muriel K
  19. Best wishes and lots of prayers for you Cindi. Muriel K
  20. A friend sent this to me. Dear Dogs and Cats: The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest. The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run. I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm. For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years-canine or feline attendance is not mandatory. The proper order is ... kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's rear end. I cannot stress this enough! To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door: RULES FOR PEOPLE WITHOUT PETS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS: 1. They live here. You don't. 2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.) 3. I like my pets a lot better than most people. 4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. 5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college -- and if they get pregnant, you can sell the children.
  21. FYI - WebMD had an article about drinking wine being related to breast cancer, also. Perhaps those folks should be asked if they are/were alcoholics. MurielK
  22. Becky, I had forgotten about green jello and dry toast. Is that really what you were thinking of when you referred to the hospital as a vacation? Hope you're out of there soon and back at home with real food. Muriel K
  23. Happy Birthday, Connie. Muriel K
  24. Thank you! I'd like 2 (assume shipping costs are more than 1 - that's ok). The other one is for my friend of 49 years who was dx w/ colon cancer last summer. Muriel K
