  1. (I) troubles. I just can't see going into work today.
  2. Wow, Michelle. I'm blown away by your dilemma. The answer is no, but you can't appeal it because the paperwork hasn't been generated yet? That's just not right!! Yes, you now must be a barracuda and rip them up!!
  3. Michelle, I'm grasping at straws over this. It seems logical to me that your onc doc must have a copy of the denial. Otherwise, how would they know you were denied? Also, the HMO should have sent you a copy of the denial. If they did not, then I don't see how they could refuse to send you a copy if you asked. Another thing that comes to mind -- if your insurance comes through an employer, might they help you to navigate through the appeal process? One last thing -- California seems to be quite progressive. Perhaps there is a state agency or ombudsman that could advocate for you with the HMO. Who told you this and why do you want to go to their office? I'm asking because this is a harsh statement.
  4. Michelle, does your oncology clinic or your hospital have a Patient Advocate? If so, perhaps they can assist you to get your HMO to approve the services you need. Lynn
  5. Goodness! What do you buy for a Brucealo? Bruce, are you registering at "Babies R Us" or "Farm and Fleet"?

    Results.

I'm really late chiming in, Bruce, and for that I truly apologize. BUT YOUR NEWS IS AWESOME!!! Congratulations, my friend.
  7. If golf ever comes to that, make sure you take Mocha with you, Randy. I'm sure he would enjoy retrieving balls for you.
  8. Oh, Sis. I'm so sorry. Continued prayers for Martha and for you. Lynn
  9. Definitely a housekeeper. I used to have one and absolutely loved it!! Alas, it's not in the budget anymore. When I strike it rich (hahaha), not only will I have a housekeeper, I'll have a chef, a chauffeur, a landscaper and a pool man! And with all that free time, I'll become a world-traveler -- on my private jet, or maybe even on my luxury yacht. Hey, why not both! So I'll need a pilot and a captain, too. Might as well dream big!! Lynn
  10. Ghost, Pretty Woman, The Notebook. I'm not sure two of those qualify as true chick flicks. Larry enjoyed Ghost, although it was several years old before he would consent to watch it. And Pretty Woman was one of his all-time favorite films. Who knows, maybe he was just lusting after Julia Roberts. Lynn
  11. Add me to the prayer chain. (((hugs))) to Martha and to you, Sis!! Lynn
  12. I don't understand it, either. It doesn't seem to matter what sort of "bad luck" a person is going through (illness, divorce, death, etc.), many of our so-called friends bail on us. What, do they think it's catching or something? And of those that do stick around, some are only there for the gossip factor. I'm sure it's cold comfort to know that many of us understand exactly what you are saying. You will, however, find out which of your acquaintences are truly friends. (((Calintay))), I wish I could do more than give you a cyberhug. Lynn
  13. I think that guy's just a blowhard.

  17. Hooduhthunk...Lynn would start an air this late in the evening. But I just had to share.... Sunday is visiting day. We arrived, with McDonald's in hand, slightly early. Voices started ringing out...Nick, your mom is here!! So he comes. "Where's your fishing pole?", I ask. "Didn't you agree to teach me how to fish?" That crooked smile, so like his dad's. "Be right back!" Yes, fish like McDonald's pickles. Honestly!! Nick caught a baby brim and threw him back to grow up. They just stole my bait. We tried using a water bug and a dead fish, but nobody was hungry, so we decided to go to the gym. It has air conditioning!! I challenged Nick to a game of HORSE. Again, the crooked smile!! He joked with his friends that his mom was going to win and embarass him. I joked with his friends that the only one I was going to embarass was myself. And we played. I didn't die and I didn't embarass myself, either. He won by an E, but I made a couple of really good shots. And we both enjoyed the game, I think. So, we're starting some new traditions. McDonald's, fishing and HORSE. Not too bad! As I'm writing this, I have tears in my eyes. For the first time in a long time, I have hope. And Nick does, too. He told me that he shared with his counselor his goal of graduating in 9 months (a goal we had already discussed, and agreed was reasonable). They talked about how Nick could reach this goal. Nick told me he could try to fake it just to get out, but he wanted to be a different person when he graduated, so that he wouldn't do the same things he used to do when he came home. Yes, we still have a long road ahead of us, but with each and every day, I receive an affirmation that I made the right choice. It seems that both Nick and I are receiving great benefit from the counseling. I've only had four sessions, but I already feel so much healing. And from my conversations with Nick, it seems he is feeling that same healing, too.
  18. Judy, I kind of like your "Judy in Key West" or your "Judy by the Rappahannock River" or your "Judy in some field in New Jersey" or your "Judy in Narcoosee" or wherever in the world you are. (Can you tell, I'm stretching my memory and/or being just a tad tongue in cheek here?) I'm living vicariously through you, Lady Bright. To me, you'll always be "Judy in ***insert adventure here***". And on that note, Happy Anniversary, Janet. I have a honeymoon story of my very own... Larry and I (sort of) eloped to Folkston, Georgia to get married. (Long, boring story for another day). We checked into the only motel in town, then went directly to the courthouse. We had to get blood tests done (another story in itself), then back to the courthouse. We made it just under the wire. We said our "I do's" at 5:07 p.m. Then we headed back to the motel. We noticed that the door to our room was ajar. Hmm.... We went inside and found the teenage son of the owner messing with our thermostat. He said the AC wasn't working. Hmm.....we were the only guests, as far as we could tell. Why give us that particular room? Well, he left and the AC worked fine. The next morning, as we were packing up to leave, Larry found my nightgown (which I never took out of my suitcase---teeheehee), on the far side of the room next to the wall. We concluded that the teenage son rifled through my luggage and fondled my nightgown. I never could bring myself to wear that nightgown. And it is was a pretty one, too....................

  20. It's a beautiful day in Space City, USA! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I'm actually doing a bit of housework. I haven't done that in awhile!! I'm on my second pot of coffee, but it's half-caf, so it only counts as one, right? Lynn
  21. Happy Birthday, Katie!! Lynn

  23. Mom and Dad were both in the Air Force. In fact, they met and married there. Dad was a career officer. Mom was enlisted, so she was discharged (fraternizing with an officer is a no-no ). One of my brothers-in-law was in the Marines and his son was in the Army. He served in Iraq.
  24. Caren, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear father. Your love for him shined so strongly in each and every one of your posts. You and your family have my prayers for peace and comfort. Lynn
