  4. Val, My doc all ways gives me a breakout pain med on top of the pain med, right now I take vicodin when the oxycontin isn't controlling th pain well, you might want to ask your doc about something like that. I learned not to be a hero with pain meds.
  5. Hey Cheryl I heard that! I so wish that all of us on the board could have been there, it was a day to remember. I personally made lots of memories and it was so neat to meet everyone. Be careful or we may Keep Katie B, she is one sweet person, wathc for the pictures soon. As long as no one told the Dallas authorties I was back in town I might consider a trip to Tejas. I lived there in 81 and 82 when I was young and real stupid especailly with a belly full of alcohol and thats why I no longer drink, not since Aug 17th 1982. Just be carefull who you send the pizza bill to. David A

    The Michigan Bash!

I home got some antibiotics and steroids I should be better this afternoon. I will be better this afternoon!.
  7. Andrea, I think it takes a lot of our energy just to fend off the cancer sometimes, I mean it is like there is a battle going on in our systems our bodies wigh the help of chemo or iressa fighting those nasty little cancer cells. Personally I don't think it means that the cancer is winning with your mom, I would tend to think she and iressa are fighting hard(and winning) the battle with lung cancer. believe me bursts of energy are a bonus since my dx, even when I was NED?, I think there is a whole new normal we have to adjust too. I hope your mom is able to make the shower and has lots of energy.

    The Michigan Bash!

I want to trade luck with anyone, I'm coughing up bloddy sputum and feel like dog crap(like I know how that feels) and its not getting any better. I'm really hurt and angry that I get sick at a time like this, thought it was the humidity, but today was a beautiful day here in michingan , little to no humidity and mid 70's and I still can't breathe, going to try like heck to make the party, I'll have my sister take me so no Mustang rides. The other bad part is that my wife is at cub scout camp with our twins, so there is no one here to even pat me on the head and tell me I'll be alright. Had a ct this morning an called my onc. to see if maybe the results were back yet and if they c ould see any pnuemonia, but they aren't back yet, so I see my primary dr at 9 am tomorrow, Wish me Luck, I'm sad

    Resuming chemo

I got a b-12 shot yesterday and I'm taking folic acid once a day, I'm just getting the Alimta alone, takes about ten minutes to dispense it they use it with cisplatin for meselthemioma(sic) I guess for lc they just use Alimta alone. Heat index is like 100 degrees here and humidity must be 150% or better if it can be that high. I can't breathe outside well at all. My wife and kids are at cubscout camp for a few days so I guess I'm laying low tonight, not only that I have to be at the hospital ar 7:30am for a cat scan. I'm going to do my best and not read the side effects of this new chemo, I'll have my wife do it as she understands that stuff better anyways, it seems every chemo I have every side effect, I want this one to go well and be the one to kick cancers ugly butt! Here I go rambling again.
  17. Here is a short note that I received from Dave Grant yesterday. David: Had a CT Scan today. It appears that a tumor in my right lung has begun to grow. At least it has changed since the June Scan. I go back August 18 for another scan. The liver tumor is still stable, but it appears that we be going into another treatment regimen. I'll keep you posted. Dave Grant And also here is a link to the site Dave frequents most http://lungcancersurvivors.org/ I hope you don't think I'm advertising Dave's site would jusat rather see people go there to see him, then to have him come back,LOL David A
  18. If I were turning fifty( and I will come hell or high water in 4 years), I'd want something from the heart, that only ones child can give. Or a Big Fat loud Black custom Harley, Hows that?
  19. Subject: JOKES A K-State student was stopped by a game warden at Tuttle Creek Lake recently. The student had two ice chests full of fish. The game warden, a KU grad, asked him, "Do you have a license to catch those fish?" "No, sir, I don't have a license. These are my pet fish," replied the Wildcat. "Every night I take my fish out to Tuttle Creek and let them swim around for a while. Then I whistle and they jump right back into this ice chest and I take them home." The warden said, "That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that!" The K-Stater looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, "It's the truth. I'll show you, it really works." "OK, I've GOT to see this!" responded the warden. The K-Stater poured the fish into Tuttle Creek and stood and waited. After several minutes, the game warden turned to him and said, "Well?" "Well what?" "When are you going to call them back?" "Call who back?" "The FISH!" yelled the game warden. "What fish?" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A K-State ag student in town for the last game in Lawrence got pulled over by a campus cop for speeding. The officer proceeded to lecture the student about his speed and to throw his weight around to try to make the out-of-area student uncomfortable. Finally, the officer got around to writing out the ticket. As he was doing so he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The student asked, "Having some problems with circle flies there, are ya?" The cop stopped writing the ticket and replied, "Well yeah, if that's what they are. I never heard of circle flies." The K-Stater says, "Well, circle flies are common on farms. See, they're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse." The cop grunts, "Oh," and goes back to writing the ticket. Then after a minute he stops and says, "Hey ... wait a minute, are you calling me a horse's *ss?" The student says, "Oh no, officer. I have too much respect for law enforcement and police officers to even think about calling you a horse's *ss." The cop says, "Well, that's a good thing," and goes back to writing the ticket. After a long pause, the student says, "Hard to fool them flies though." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once upon a time the only cow in the Junction City dairy stopped giving milk, so they bought a cow from Lincoln. They brought it from Lincoln, and it was wonderful. It produced so much milk that they got a bull to mate with it to produce more just like it. They put the bull in the pasture with their cow, but the cow backed away. Whenever the bull came close, the cow would move away again. The Junction City people were very upset and took their problem to the dean of the K-State veterinary school: "When the bull approaches, the cow moves away. If he comes from the back, she moves forward. If he comes from the front, she backs off. If he comes from the side, she goes to the other side." The dean thought about this for a minute and asked, "Did you buy this cow in Lincoln?" The K-State people were amazed, since they hadn't mentioned where they got the cow. "You are truly a wise vet," they said. "How did you know we got the cow in Lincoln?" With a distant look in his eye, the dean replied, "My wife is from Lincoln." .

    Resuming chemo

Hi Everyone, Next friday July 30th I am going to resuime chemo with a drug called Alimita(sp?), it is intraveneous but only takes like ten minutes, I guess the pre-drugs and mixing it takes the longest. This is what I had planned on doing, there was a car show I wanted to go to in June, drag races last weekend, and the Michigan bash this weekend, and I didn't want to be sick with chemo for any of these events, so I feel like I'm calling the shots and in control of my treatment. I haven't had any chemo or treatments for my cancer since early April 2004, so this friday I'm getting a cat scan to get a base line. I feel good about this and hope this new chemo is the one that will knock the cancer out of my body. Man the humidity is like 100% here today I went outside to clean up some glass my kids broke by accident, I could hardly breathe, I hope the humidity goes down some as I wanted to go to this ice cream parlor where people cruise with their classic cars, well if not tonight then nother wednesday. Thanks for reading. David A
