  1. Don, I am so glad it worked out so that you could have some quality time with your children. I certainly understand why you are ready for 2007. May this next year bring you peace. I love you Don...you are one perfect gentleman. Nina
  2. Great news Nancy. I wish you a smooth surgery and quick recovery. I sent my path slides to 2 places. They both agreed so I needed my treatment. Your case lets me know I did the right thing by insisting on two lab reports. Nina
  3. Debi, It is great that things are going so well with you. Can't imagine 60 days without seeing your son on a daily basis but that will soon end now that you have proven yourself to be so indispensable. I am proud of you. Glad you were able to spend Christmas at home. I used to travel alot with my job (not fly but drive long hours) and I hated hotels after the first year or two...but room service and maid service is something I could really get use to. Merry Christmas. Nina
  4. Glad things are getting going for you. Now you know you are doing something. I hated the waiting and worry that things were getting worse before we did anything to stop it. Put those boxing gloves on and fight like the dickens. Nina
  5. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Dr. West. You have been so helpful to all of us. Just want you to know that we know how busy you are and how precious your time is. Thank you for taking some of it with us. Nina
  6. Thanks for the post Frank. You know, things you have done and said have touched my life much like Dean's did. Your sense of humor and love of life are wonderful. Thank you for letting us get to know you. Nina

    ...

Merry Christmas Bill. Haven't seen you post in a while and hope it is because you are writing your best novel yet. Nina
  8. I agree..NO NEW METS. Hope you have pleasant holidays and that your new plan is just the ticket for you. Glad to hear you have no symptoms. Nina
  9. This was a first for me as well. Cute and funny 12 days. Nina
  10. The shock is very normal. It sounds as if you are well prepared and know the right questions to ask. If surgery is an option by all means take it. Get that raschal out first and go on from there. Best of luck. Nina
  11. That was darling...had to share that one with my friends. Merry Christmas to you too. Nina
  12. Frank, My husband Chuck and I have been amazed for a long time at how you keep up your sense of humor and attitude through all of the horrors of this disease. We both admire you and keep you in our prayers. As for the fat lady, I suggest that you hide the chocolate donuts from her and all of the rest of us do the same. Lets make her lose weight til she can't sing anymore. The final curtain isn't down yet as long as we are breathing. We love you Frank and wish you the best possible life in the time to come. Chuck and I play golf but you would beat us so badly that you would probably rather play with Tiger. I'll see what I can do to get a good tee time for the two of you at the Masters next Spring. I hope your holidays are the best they can be and that you feel well to enjoy them. Nina

  15. I won't kid you. Surgery is painful. It hurts when you cough, take a deep breath, turn over in your sleep etc. BUT..it is by far the best chance for a true cure. The surgeon has told her she is a candidate for surgery and if I were her I would take it without a second thought and be thankful I had a chance to get the tumor out. As you can see from my profile I did have surgery. I think it is why I am alive today almost 4 years later and without any kind of treatment since Aug of 2003. One thing I did (my surgeon suggested it) was to sleep in a recliner for a couple of weeks afterward. That helped alot. I was in the hospital for 5 days and walked around the yard the afternoon I came home without too much trouble. I was able to move around the house and take care of myself except for cooking etc. I did take some pain meds every 4 hours for about a week but they had told me in the hospital that it was better to stay ahead of the pain than to let it get full blown. Every 4 hours keep me comfortable and able to get up and down and walk around. After 3 1/2 weeks I flew from B'ham Ala to Las Vegas and had a wonderful time out there for 7 days. I was fine and still am. Hope this helps. Nina
  16. Cute, cute, cute Nina
  17. Sharyn, Great news! Happy Holidays!!! Enjoy. Nina
  18. Me too Ry. Only thing was I got the reindeer move first. Guess my sack of toys was a little dirty by the time it got here. Nina
  19. Frank, Same ole, same ole....don't change a thing. They tell me that as long as you think about it the fat lady will not sing....I wonder what my brain looks like? Nina
  20. Ann She is a little doll. Being a grand (nana in my case) is one of the best things about raising children of our own. We can spoil their kids and send them home. Nina

    To Carleen

Carleen, This is a season that for many is such a hard one. I keep you in my prayers Carleen and think of you many times a week. When you feel up to it let us hear from you. You are a special part of this wonderful family. Nina
  22. Welcome Heather. Glad you found us but not glad you had the need to look for us. Adding your profile will save you alot of time each time you post. Most questions you have can be answered here by someone that has been there..done that. So ask away. Nina
  23. This sounds like good news. I hope this new dx will be something easily treated and that Godfrey feels better soon. Lung disease of any kind can be difficult to live with. Keep us informed as to how he is doing. Happy Holidays. Nina
  24. I had the same chemo that you are taking. Mine came out approx 3 weeks after the first infusion. My last treatment was in early June. By Thanksgiving I had about 1 1/2 inches of hair and went without my wig around the family for the first time. I kept some of my eyebrows but only a few. I have dark hair so they still looked a little like brows. I felt very uncomfortable even around the house, so I know how you feel. Men can get away with the no hair deal better than us women..just get someone to put a line or two of eyebrow pencil on before the wedding...don't over do it and you'll be fine. Heck, you are a nice looking young man with or without hair and eyebrows. Nina
  25. Good joke and Don's comment was priceless. Nina
