  9. MO Sounds like you've got a great team. I bet that makes this whole thing alot easier. Wish my Dad had that going for him!! Jamie
  10. Hi Star, My Dad has NSCLC, but I think what your looking for is advice in general. I think as long as your Dad understands the seriousness of this all, and comprehends everything explained to him, he will make the right choice for him. Make his doctors explain, and if hes not getting it.. have them explain again...and again. In the end you just have to support him, whatever his choice may be. Keep your dad infomed of what may lie ahead, and he will make his choice. The best thing for you to do, i think, is be there for him when he needs you. I dont know much about SCLC, but remember that there is always hope. No doctor can tell you how long a person will live... if you need anything feel free to PM me... Im a good listener. Jamie

    An Update.

Dean, Get well soon, and come back. I miss your postings!!! Jamie
  12. Hi Jonathan, Yes indeed! Ive heard so many mixed stories about him. Some love him, more hate him, but it's never really about his surgical ability. Everyone mentions his additude and bedside manner. My Dad did say he seemed really doom and gloom. How did your mom's actual surgery go. I guess were really torn. I'll tell ya what though... Whether it is extreeme liking or utter distaste for this man... Everyone who has met him definitly has a strong opinion about him!!! Is he the only surgical oncologist there?? Jamie

    Dean Carl???

Dean, Love to hear about how that lovley few days went. Looking forward to your story Jamie
  22. Elaine, My Dad got radiation to his throat, and just under also, and he had a nagging painfull cough. Not sure how long, but he did say that for him Chemo was a breeze, and radiation was killing him. I know everyone is different, but thats just his story.
  23. Dave & Andrea, Thanks for the info... Im still not clear if he wanted the CT for the tumor or the lymphs. Noone has really mentioned the tumor latley, and last we heard it was small enough and in a location where it wouldnt be a problem....that said, it must be the lymphs that they are checking with the CT. His PET was less than a month ago and all was clear. The biopsy should tell us for sure too. Jamie
  24. Andrea, My dad likes to wait to get his results at an appointment so the dr. can explain stuff, maybe thats why it is taking so long. Im not sure how there doing the biopsy, but i know that they are putting him out. His surgeon must be doing it because he said he wanted to get familiar with his case so that is why they are doing it at his big hospital, instead of my dad's little one where he gets chemo. Why the need for the CT if the PET came back clean....dosent the PET light up for every little thing???
