    Just wanted to wish eveyone a great holiday season! I tried to post monday but it never posted. For all who have lost a loved one this year you will be in my hearts this season...and for all make every effort to enjoy this holiday with family and friends we of anyone know how fragile life is.

    Can we also add something in the letters now about possibilities of donations too? I wrote 48 hours, cnn, local new here and christy turlington. Maybe this would JUST be an ideal but somehow getting in touch with THETruth and have them do a commercial of some kind of the fact no one will answer back letters and such??

    you're so great dave!!! Honestly and amazing person. I especially LOVE your answer to the smoking question.....i HATE that!!!

    well her is an update today she was having a 2nd biopsy cause they were tyring to determine what kind of NSCLC she has, (my friend does not like where she is being treated right now and actually her mom has an appointment with my dad's old oncologist tuesday) well during the 2nd biopsy her lung collapsed :(

    Now I am hoping this is from the biopsy itself and being her second or do you think it may be plueral effusion?

    It is actually my friends mom. I lost my dad to lung cancer in may and am helping her out. I can tell her so much based on my experience and his, but it was similar type and different in the same instance so I amglad for your help. She is discussing the Iressa option cause chemo might have been a fright and also cause good things have been said about Iressa. My dad was suppose to do Iressa back when it first got approved but it took 2-3 weeks from the actual approval to it getting to the doctor and by then it was not an option for him.

    Hello all hope everyone is doing good!

    here is the deal so far

    so far cat scan came back with nothing and PET results are coming this week. It is non small cell also. she has an appointment to discuss Iressa. anyone have anything other then i can reiterate to her about this form. my dad was stage IV due to the bone met. she is due to double lung, so anyone here who has some words of wisdom or suggestions? PLEASE post!!

    Thank you mirell and teresa! Teresa ANOTHER story i am cutting and pasting from a previous post a while ago about a month after he passed i think....

    here it is....they ARE around NO DOUBT

    so my dad's work buddies stopped by my mom house today they gave her a card from everyone with $1000 in it. presented a duplicate plaque to her that they have put up at his desk in GE that says here worked a hardworking so on and on man James F. Santilli who can not be replaced on and on, and included his employee badge number 446...how sweet huh, i was all like chocked up when my mom read it...here is the freak part and like i said this has been happening all the da_ _ time now. I have one of my dad's watches the one he wore up till his death, my mom said i found his other old watch, you know what time it has been going off since she found it like 3 days after his death 4:46 am. my dad would NEVER set it for that early he worked the 3rd shift.......my mother said i took the watch down for the bedroom and showed them they were all freaked out and she never knew that was his employee id was 446 and i promise you he would have NEVER set it for that time regardless.

    Thanks I know he is around. As some of you may know from previous posts I have his watch he wore the night he passed (they took it off in the process of his admittance cause he had hospital identification on) So that faithful night after all happened when i gathered his stuff i grabbed the watch and put it on just cause I had a lot of stuff. I Left it on to this day. last night this watch NEVER wakes me up on a work night. Weekends yes i am usually out late sooo i am up for it. It is set at an odd time due to him setting it for AM thinking it was PM. well last night it went off and i woke up to it. he passed away at 12:55 and later that night when we had to deal with my mom and aunt in the ER it went off and last night it went off and i woke to it which never happens so i took it as a hello. I smiled said hello dad and went back to bed :D

    Mirrell, it is odd ins't it how time can pass like that yet the memory of the events seem so fresh???

    To talk about the good times is the best thing that can be done, and i believe anyone of our loved ones who lost their battle would want that! and i bet your dad is already prouder of you then you could imagine!!!

    Smoking

    My dad quit YEARS before he had it. 15 years to be exactly BUT I find it interesting to say the least. Maybe people associate coughs and phlegm and other symptoms as just, i should quit smoking or it is smoking related when it may be a symptom of LC and once you quit and these symptoms you thought were just because you smoked too much that day are still there then you get yourself checked out and it is actually cancer? Just a hypothesis.

    what makes me mad about my dad is he had polyps on his colon a year before and they did a rather thorough CT scan and other tests...so it was odd he was dx with late stage Lung Cancer not even a year later? You figure SOMETHING would be picked up!!!
