Got results early-NED is still with me!

Got my scans this am and results in the afternoon! I have never had them so quickly. I have a copy faxed to me at home so I usually get them before my Docs.

I am very NED, BUT I have extensive radiation damage:

Quote:

"Interval development of right lung airspace disease and small pleural effusion."

All Docs involved said this is nothing to worry about, is to be expected and explains my BIG cough. Basically, I was told just deal with the fallout, your still alive kinda attitude.

Anyone w/ experience of airspace disease and pleural effusion post radiation?

Thanks,

Jen

Congratulations on NED!!! I'm so glad. I think my Mom had that, its kindof like a paralyzed lobe from the damage of radiation of her upper right lobe (not as much air gets in there). She got the plueral effusion in May after her treatments in March which she calls like Pnuemonia. But it cleared up and shes doing good. I will pray that it goes away soon!!!

Love,

laurie

Thanks for all of the well wishes, prayers etc..... It means a lot to me that there is this group (you guys) that know EXACTLY what this adventure is like.

Everyone says "Celebrate", "rejoice" etc.... I am a party pooper because I get about 5 min of happiness and a big sigh of relief, but then I am scared to be too happy, to celebrate as though I am waiting for the other shoe to drop at some point or I might jinx it all. I know, its dumb, but thats how I am about all of this.

When do we know it is really gone? Ever? Is it 2 years, 5 years?

Jen

Congrats, Jen!

None of us get any guarantees on this thing, you know. But the key is to live each moment, each day, as fully as we can....NOT "borrowing trouble" (to quote Don Wood) and not spinning our wheels in needless worry.

Think Doris Day.......you know, "Que sera, sera". 8) Whatever will be WILL be....so we take it as it comes, hope for the best and stay positive about having yet another day, week, month, whatever....to live and enjoy!

Basically, I was told just deal with the fallout, your still alive kinda attitude.

There is wisdom in what your doctors told you!

Jen, I don't know the answer to that either. All I know is that I'm grateful for each day. And now, I've started making plans for the future like I used to -- one of the first being a trip into Illinois and northeast Missouri to dig around in (of all things!) old family cemeteries for my family research work. I'll be meeting some cousins that I found through this research -- family I never knew I had. They know what's been going on with me this past year, and have been extremely kind and supportive through it all, so it will be wonderful to finally meet them.

I don't know what kind of time I have to live life, but I didn't know that before I found out about the cancer either. (And you know from my profile how I feel about that dropping the other shoe thingie!)

Just hang in there. We're here for you.

Di
