As some of you already know, I designed a tribute website & slide show presentation for Katrina Victims (www.katrinatribute.info). It has been seen by over 3 million people worldwide, helped raise thousands of dollars in relief aid & been a place of comfort for many. Well, I want to do the same for Cancer Patients. A Flash presentation with music, featuring the real people it affects every day. My Mom has inspired me beyond words. I want to try & make a difference for all affected by this horrible disease.

If you wish to participate, I need pictures of loved ones with Cancer sent here: ENLTich1104@aol.com . It can be of someone you have lost from Cancer or someone who is fighting to get well. (Please include any personal information you would like me to add to their picture, such as name & dates if applicable.)

I'm also looking for suggestions on music to use. We are looking for a song that reaches out & grabs you. Something very fitting for what a Cancer Patient goes through.

And in case anyone is wondering, everything is donated. I never, ever accept a dime for my work. I always provide links to reputable charitable organizations, if someone does wish to donate.

Please feel free to pass along this information to anyone who may wish to participate. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is a great project. For songs, you may want to consider "Keep Me in Your Heart" by Warren Zevon who passed away from lung cancer (mesothelioma) not too long ago. This is on his last CD, "The Wind" recorded after he was diagnosed.

LOL Well you're talking to about the lowest of the low tech people. How does one send a song via e-mail? Maybe another member on here will take pity on me and help??? I can send it to you on a disk---that I can do--if you send me your address.

Debi- Thanks, I got the wav & will give it a listen tomorrow.

Is your tribute website designed for lung cancer or all cancers combined?

The Flash Tribute will be for all Cancers combined. (I still need to find a sponsor website). I will be able to reach more people that way.

Besides that, Cancer has come into my life through 7 different people. My best Friend Rose died from Ovarian Cancer, my closest friend Sharon, is a survivor of Breast & Ovarian cancer, another very close friend Phyllis has breast cancer for the second time, Yet another very close friend Jerry is a survivor of prostate cancer, My Mother-in law died from Burketts Luekemia, My Grandfather died from SCLC & my Mom is fighting it now.

It's a cause that is VERY near & dear to my heart. I just pray I am able to make a difference & help by showing how much I care.

Hello,

Also a good song to consider would be Hero by Mariah Carey. That reminds me of my mom when she was fighting. Thanks and good luck with your website.

There's a hero

If you look inside your heart

You don't have to be afraid

Of what you are

There's an answer

If you reach into your soul

And the sorrow that you know

Will melt away

Chorus

And then a hero comes along

With the strength to carry on

And you cast your fears aside

And you know you can survive

So when you feel like hope is gone

Look inside you and be strong

And you'll finally see the truth

That a hero lies in you

It's a long road

When you face your world alone

No one reaches out a hand

For you to hold

You can find love

If you search within yourself

And the emptiness you felt

Will disappear

Chorus

Lord knows

Dreams are hard to follow

But don't let anyone

Tear them away

Hold on

There will be tomorrow

In time

You'll find the way

Chorus

Thank You Lisa,

You guys are awesome. Why not consider using all of the songs. Put the songs on the website and then a person can select the song they want to hear. Sounds good to me...

Please keep us posted on what you decide and also the Web address.... :)

God Bless, prayers and hugs for you and mom,

Fly to the Angels, By Slaughter

Pictures of you

They're still on my mind

You had the smile

That could light up the world

Now it rains

It seems the sun never shines

And I'll drive down

This lonely lonely road

Ooh I got this feelin'

Girl, I gotta let you go

'Cause now you've got to fly (fly high)

Fly to the angels

Heavens awaits your heart

And flowers bloom in your name

You've got to fly (fly high)

Fly to the angels

All the stars in the night

Shine in your name

You know it hurts me

Way deep inside

When I turn and look

And find that you're not there

I try to convince myself

That the pain, the pain

It's still not gone.

Still I'll drive down

this lonely lonely road

Ooh I got this feelin'

Girl, I gotta let you go

But now you've got to fly (fly high)

Fly to the angels

Heavens awaits your heart

And flowers bloom in your name

You've got to fly (fly high)

Fly to the angels

All the stars in the night

Shine in your name

FLYYYY!!!

Ooh yeah

And still I drive down

this lonely lonely road

ooh I got this feelin'

oh I can't let you go

BUT I KNOW that you've got to fly (fly high)

fly to the angels

Heaven awaits your heart

And flowers bloom in your name

You've gotta fly (fly high)

fly to the angels

All the stars in the sky

SHINE IN YOUR NAME YEAH

OW! ooh--ooh--ooh (repeat)

I'm gonna miss you

gonna miss you girl.

You guys are incredible & came up with some really good song suggestions!

Karen

Karen- I would love to use a number of songs but unfortuneately, it makes the load time unbearable, especially for those on dial up. I also like adding the song to the flash presentation so I can stream the pictures to the music. It creates a much stronger impact.

A song that sticks in my mind & has moved me to tears recently is by Hoobastank called "The Reason".

I'm not a perfect person

There's many things I wish I didn't do

But I continue learning

I never meant to do those things to you

And so I have to say before I go

That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you

It's something I must live with everyday

And all the pain I put you through

I wish that I could take it all away

And be the one who catches all your tears

Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person

I never meant to do those things to you

And so I have to say before I go

That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show

A side of me you didn't know

A reason for all that I do

And the reason is you

I'm just not a 100% sure it works with what I am trying to do.

Now, if I can you all to stop being so shy & send me those pictures! :D ( ENLTich1104@aol.com ) I may have to tie my mother up to get one of her!

I also wanted to share some great news, that started out scary! She was seen a few days ago by her Onc. who found that she was getting dehydrated from not keeping anything down and had her admitted to St. Anthony's to be given fluids, potassium, and magnesium. She is now feeling, looking, and acting better. Her follow-up x-ray did show that the therapies have shrunk the tumors to the point of not being shown.

I am shocked (and overjoyed!)the Chemo & Rad are working so quickly.

Thanks for all the support & well wishes!

Calling All Angels

Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, Santa Anna, Santa Susannah

Santa Cecilia, Santa Copelia, Santa Domenica, Mary Angelica

Frater Achad, Frater Pietro, Julianus, Petronilla

Santa, Santos, Miroslaw, Vladimir

and all the rest

a man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries

and high above the church bells start to ring

and as the heaviness the body oh the heaviness settles in

somewhere you can hear a mother sing

then it's one foot then the other as you step out onto the road

how much weight? how much weight?

then it's how long? and how far?

and how many times before it's too late?

calling all angels

calling all angels

walk me through this one

don't leave me alone

calling all angels

calling all angels

we're cryin' and we're hurtin'

and we're not sure why...

and every day you gaze upon the sunset

with such love and intensity

it's almost...it's almost as if

if you could only crack the code

then you'd finally understand what this all means

but if you could...do you think you would

trade in all the pain and suffering?

ah, but then you'd miss

the beauty of the light upon this earth

and the sweetness of the leaving

calling all angels

calling all angels

walk me through this one

don't leave me alone

callin' all angels

callin' all angels

we're tryin'

we're hopin'

we're hurtin'

we're lovin'

we're cryin'

we're callin'

'cause we're not sure how this goes

I love the song by Tim McGraw, "Live Like You Were Dying" but there is a line in that song that deeply disturbs me... "And he said some day I hope you get the chance To live like you were dyin'". When in all reality, I don't hope that at all. I wouldn't wish Cancer on my worst enemy. I know what Tim is trying to say that we should all, no matter what, live each day like it's our last BUT it doesn't come across that well in the lyrics he chose.

I just want the song to be perfect, like the songs I used for the other tributes.

Ok here's another one-- Warren Zevon again. Will send you a pic soon.

WARREN ZEVON

Don't Let Us Get Sick

Don't let us get sick

Don't let us get old

Don't let us get stupid, all right?

Just make us be brave

And make us play nice

And let us be together tonight

The sky was on fire

When I walked to the mill

To take up the slack in the line

I thought of my friends

And the troubles they've had

To keep me from thinking of mine

Don't let us get sick

Don't let us get old

Don't let us get stupid, all right?

Just make us be brave

And make us play nice

And let us be together tonight

The moon has a face

And it smiles on the lake

And causes the ripples in Time

I'm lucky to be here

With someone I like

Who maketh my spirit to shine

Don't let us get sick

Don't let us get old

Don't let us get stupid, all right?

Just make us be brave

And make us play nice

And let us be together tonight

Thanks for the continuing suggestions & support. I'm working on finding & listening to them all. This project is really falling into place.

My friend suggested a song by Mary Chapin Carpenter called "10,000 Miles" that seems to be very fitting. It's absolutely beautiful. It puts a lump in my throat & gives me goosebumps, everytime I listen to it. Plus, despite the limited but yet very meaningful lyrics, it is over 6 minutes long. That would allow me to add more pictures & quotes. I really think this is our song.

Here are the lyrics:

Fare thee well

My own true love

Farewell for a while

I’m going away

But I’ll be back

Though I go 10,000 miles

10,000 miles

My own true love

10,000 miles or more

The rocks may melt

And the seas may burn

If I should not return

Oh don’t you see

That lonesome dove

Sitting on an ivy tree

She’s weeping for

Her own true love

As I shall weep for mine

Oh come ye back

My own true love

And stay a while with me

If I had a friend

All on this earth

You’ve been a friend to me

I hope everyone gets a chance to give it a listen. I have it in WAV format & would be happy to send it. Just let me know!

Hugs to you all,

Lisa

Another good song is "Through the Years" Kenny Rogers..

I can't remember when you weren't there

When I didn't care for anyone but you

I swear we've been through everything there is

Can't imagine anything we've missed

Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do

Through the years, you've never let me down

You turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found

I've found with you ... Through the years

I've never been afraid, I've loved the life we've made

And I'm so glad I've stayed, right here with you

Through the years

I can't remember what I used to do

Who I trusted, who I listened to before

I swear you taught me everything I know

Can't imagine needing someone so

But through the years it seems to me

I need you more and more

Through the years, through all the good and bad

I knew how much we had, I've always been so glad

To be with you ... Through the years

It's better every day, you've kissed my tears away

As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you

Through the years

Through the years, when everything went wrong

Together we were strong, I know that I belong

Right here with you ... Through the years

I never had a doubt, we'd always work things out

I've learned what love's about, by loving you

Through the years

Through the years, you've never let me down

You've turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found

I've found with you ... Through the years

It's better every day, you've kissed my tears away

As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you

Through the years!

One Sweet Day

by Mariah Carey

Sorry I never told you

All I wanted to say

And now it's too late to hold you

'Cause you've flown away

So far away

Never had I imagined

Living without your smile

Feeling and knowing you hear me

It keeps me alive

Alive

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven

Like so many friends we've lost along the way

And I know eventually we'll be together

One sweet day

Darling, I never showed you

Assumed you'd always be there

I took your presence for granted

But I always cared

And I miss the love we shared

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven

Like so many friends we've lost along the way

And I know eventually we'll be together

One sweet day

Although the sun will never shine the same

I'll always look to a brighter day

Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep

You will always listen as I pray

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven

Like so many friends we've lost along the way

And I know eventually we'll be together

One sweet day

And I know you're shining down on me from Heaven

Like so many friends we've lost along the way

And I know eventually we'll be together

One sweet day

Sorry I never told you

All I wanted to say

I am glad you chose MCC-- I love her music and her voice is so beautiful. If you decide 10,000 miles isn't right she has another wonderful song that is just over 5 minutes called "Between Here and Gone" that would work too.

Tonight, the moon came out, it was nearly full.

Way down here on earth, I could feel it's pull.

The weight of gravity or just the lure of life,

Made me want to leave my only home tonight.

Now I'm just wonderin' how we know where we belong.

Is it in a photograph, or a dashboard poet's song?

Will I have missed my chance to right some ancient wrong,

Should I find myself between here and gone?

Now I could grab my keys, clear out in my truck,

With every cent on board bringing me their luck.

An' I could drive too fast, like a midnight sleeve,

As if there was a way to outrun the grief.

Now I'm just wonderin' how we know where we belong.

In a song that's left behind in the dream I couldn't wake from.

Could I have felt the brush of a soul that's passing on,

Somewhere in between here and gone?

Up above me,

Wayward angels,

A blur of wings and grace.

One for courage,

One for safety,

One for "just in case".

I thought a light went out, but now the candle shines.

I thought my tears wouldn't stop, then I dried my eyes.

And after all of this, the truth that holds me here,

Is that this emptiness is something not to fear.

Yeah, I'll keep wondering how we know where we belong,

After all the journeys made, and the journeys yet to come.

When I feel like giving up instead of going on,

Somewhere in between.
