Andrea B. Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 We just found out today that my mom's primary tumor is growing and it has metastisized further into her right lung. We found out today that the cancer is causing her shortness of breath - it is constricting blood vessels. I can't believe how quickly my mom's health has deteriorated. She now is going to be on oxygen (about damn time they gave it to her). In addition, she is going to begin Iressa. My family is still holding on to a shred of hope. Her oncologist told us there is no chance of remission, but hopefully we can stabilize the disease. Emotionally I am a wreck. My mom started talking today about getting her house cleaned out and giving things away. I hate this damn disease! I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to find out about clinical trials in my area, Seattle, Washington. Thanks in advance. Quote

bart ziggie ( Greg ) Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 Andrea, so sorry to hear about your mothers condition. I can only imagine the stress and grief caregivers/family go thru with this monster. I know for me the pain i see in others eyes and faces around me troubles my heart deeply. I feel an overwhelming sense of guilt at times that i have this stupid disease and i am causing evryones pain. I try not to let it show and would never let them know but i feel so horrible for them having to go thru this. My thoughts are with you and your mother. Hopefully the iressa will work. I have seen lots of good things about it and god willing it will be right for your mother. Gentle Hugs Greg Quote
Fay A. Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 Andrea, I'm very sorry to hear the news on your Mom. Thank goodness, she has you to be her advocate. I'm hoping that you find something for her- near to home- in the links to info that John posted. I understand the anger...I really do. Thinking of you both (and praying and hoping, too) Fay A. Quote
norme Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 Andrea, I feel your pain from being a caregiver. I wish with all my heart that we could turn on the TV and they would say that there is a pill to cure all of this cancer but for right now, that is not happening. I sure hope the Iressa works for her. Will say a special pray for all of you... Quote
