  1. Actually, it takes about an hour to kick in. I liked the joke. LOL

    another birthday

Happy birthday, Shordy! It's so good to hear from you again. Take care. Don
  3. Sharon, as I have said many times on this board before, "Don't borrow trouble." You have a lot to be positive about. I have told Lucie many times that tests are run just to be sure nothing is there. I think this is one of those cases. Enjoy this time of good news. Don

    Gassed

I got wind of that early on!
  5. Wrong, Cheryl! You are very special, and don't forget it!
  6. Tell your mom she should keep tabs on your stepdad's temperature. Whenever it goes above 100.5, she should call the doctor. With suppressed immune system, your dad needs his temp monitored. Wish him well. Don
  7. Thanks, Jane, for the great update on your brother. Sounds like things are getting to a peaceful stage, as much as it can be. My thoughts and prayers are with you and family. Don
  8. Kay and Ray -- alriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight! Celebrate!
  9. Glad your transition turned out happily. You deserve it. Don
  10. Oh, Shelly, I am at a loss for words. How horrible! My prayers are with you and your dad. Don
  11. Oh, my! Margery Maine (Ma Kettle) comes to mind, but most of you are too young to remember who that was. Well, beware that you may get what you ask for! LOL
  12. Lucie's tastes changed during taxotere treatments. She loved chocolate before but didn't want any during the treatment (it didn't taste right). However, after she got off the chemo, a while after she taste returned and she is back loving chocolate. That is just one example. Hope the treatment does well for you. Don
  13. I second the "super duper" motion for Katie.
  14. Berisa, it is good that you are going on vacation with your mom. You both need that right now. Enjoy your trip. Don

    Radiation

Yes, fatigue lingers for a while after radiation stops because the radiation continues to work for a while.
  16. Beautiful! And it was all for you. I have had a number of such experiences in the past several years and I knew it was a special touch from God to me. Don
  17. You have too much time on your hands!
  18. I knew we were in good hands and you would come to our rescue!
  19. Becky has an empty head! Becky has an empty head! Ya! Ya! Ya! Go, Becky!

    An Update.

Hi, Dean! Good to see you posting. Thank the Lord for roses and poppies! Glad you are doing what you can and enjoying what you can. Miss your good inputs. Don
  21. Beth, you both are in my thoughts and prayers. Don
  22. Welcome! You have come to the right place for info and support. You ARE helping your mom by doing those things that need to be done routinely. Those things don't stop when one has cancer. I found during my wife's treatment that I had to take care of her, do all the things I normally do, and do all the things she normally would do. Of course, some things that were not urgent or serious got to wait. Take care and let us know how things are going for you and your mom. Don
  23. Hi, Star! It is super that you are being your dad's primary caregiver and advocate. Each patient needs such a person. If you ask about longevity, you will get statistics, and old ones at that. Each person is different and new discoveries continue to be made. Hang in there. There is always hope. I'm glad you dad decided to try chemo again. It's best not to read much into his initial reactions to everything, and to wait and see. He is very scared and very tired. And men are notorious for not wanting to be fooled with, not asking questions, and making snap judgments, etc. You can be a great help to him, as you already have been. Keep us posted and let us know how we may help you further. Don
