  1. Setbacks are no fun, but they are just that. They set you back a bit, and then you keep going. Keep up the positive attitude, and we'll keep up the prayers! Kelly

    IT's a girl!

Yea for you! Hope the little princess isn't giving you any grief right now. Kelly
  3. Posting or sending emails before I spellcheck. It's really embarrassing, and I did it again today in a broadcast email to my students' parents! Kelly
  4. Ah, the tummy troubles. Mom has skipped the worst of the rash. She originally had acne, but now just has dry, crocodile skin. She also had the diarrhea, and was hospitalized for dehydration, but that was most likely complicated by her illeostomy. I wouldn't woory about that too much, but make sure you are staying hydrated and nourished. On the plus side, Mom has not had any growth in her tumors since she started the Tarceva. We are very thankful for it around here. Good luck! Kelly
  5. Kathleen, God love ya, the first few days /weeks/ after the dx are just the worst. I feel for you. Things will be 'normal' again. Sometimes I can go hours at a time w/o thinking and worrying about my Mom. Make sure you are taking care of yourself at this time, too. You won't be any good to your mom if you wear yourself ragged. She's lucky to have you there to help out. Keep us posted on how she's doing! Kelly
  6. Oh, it sounds just terrible! I truly do feel for you. On the up side, you do have most of the elements necessary for a good country song. Hope things look up for you soon, and that the pup finds its way home. Kelly
  7. I'm buying an island with a great beach house on it. You're all invited! Kelly
  8. In my clothes??? Too white. I don't think anyone in my family can resist ruining white clothes. And the black ones make me look thinner. Too quiet, or too loud? Kelly
  9. I wish that there was something magical I could say or do to help you out. I will certainly pray for strength for both you and your husband. I would also encourage you to keep writing, whether you share it with us or not. Sometimes just getting the feelings down on paper can help. Obviously writing is a strength for you, so keep it up! Good luck to you. Kelly
  10. Oh my, I can't imagine how rough all of this must be on you. I agree with the folks who think you should let the doc in on how your dad is feeling. Make sure you are taking care of yourself during this time as well. Keep us posted! Kelly
  11. Lynn, It is really rough to deal with the illness of a parent, but this community is a great place for support. Sorry you had to seek us out, but glad you found it! Kelly
  12. I like to make up fake profanity, and then yell it loudly and with vigor! No one can get mad at me, because I really haven't said anything wrong, but it sure gets the point across. Last year I'd 'yell' at my 8th graders in German. Really all I said was "the soap", but it sounded impressive. I didn't tellthem what it meant until graduation. It sure got their attention, though. Kelly
  13. Holy cow, that's a lot to deal with! You're in my prayers. Kelly
  14. That dehydration is a beastie. Mom has to be extremely careful of that because she also has an osteomy and poor kidney functioning. I tell ya, she's a ramblin' wreck! I keep offering to give her a fat transfusion, but her doctor is still working out the details... Kelly
  15. Back to school tomorrow! My students will show up at 8:00, with their smiley faces. Middle school kids just love school, right? I'm just glad it is starting, so I can quit the getting ready phase (you're never ready) and just be officially 'behind'. That I'm used to. And the GREAT news is that, as of 9:00 this morning, I have air conditioning!!! Can life get any better? I'm a bit apprehensive about this year, but I'm sure it will all be fine. Kelly
  16. Ah... I bet you have to fight off the folks that want to pinch those adorable cheeks! Kelly
  17. Oh man... now I'm hungry! Mexican is always my food of choice. Bread is something I love, but I also have trouble with moderation. After being in Europe for a few weeks this summer (beer and bread with every meal) I had to buy comfy pants to fly home in. I just can't say no to rolls and Nutella. Kelly
  18. Good gravy! What a mess. I'm just so glad that you are back posting with us. You'll be in my prayers this week. Kelly
  19. What a tough day. I'll keep you in my prayers. Kelly
  20. Hey Vicky! Sorry you had to seek us out, but hopefully the folks here can provide some support for you as well. I know they've helped me. It sounds like you have a great support network. I'm sure my mom would tell you that nothing works better than prayers and hugs from grandkids. Kelly
  21. Boy, isn't that frustrating! I hope they will make a plan soon for Mike. When my mom first went on Tarceva, she had problems with it as well. She dehydrated and was hospitalized due to 'stomache problems' it caused. Oddly enough, after taking her off of it for a week or so, she was just fine when she returned to it. No problems since. Good luck to ya! Kelly

    Alf's cat

I loved ALF too (it stood for Alien Life Form, right?). Hey, if chanting, yelling, or speaking Chinese helps, I say do it. They'l certainly remember you next time. Good luck! Kelly
  23. Wednesday. My kids started back to school, but because of construction, my school starts a week later. I had a few days to myself. NOW I know why the stay at home Moms like back to School time so much! Usually it just means time to start setting my alarm. Kelly
  24. Fishing therapy...great idea! I bet the insurance company would just reject that too. Good for you getting out there and enjoying it. BTW, I use those shirts when I'm backpacking. They are great! Kelly
  25. How great of him to follow up with you and keep your mind at rest. I'm always asking my mom where she got her self-diagnosis medical degree. Glad you went, had it checked out, and are on the road to recovery. Kelly
