  1. You're in our thoughts and prayers! Kelly
  2. I'm so thankful to hear that everyone is OK! My 80 yr. old aunt evacuated on Wed., so she missed the rush. She's waiting until there is enough gas in TX to get her back home. Kelly
  3. Nice to meet you, Midge! The Dr has toild my Mom she will need to start the Gemzar/Carboplatin combo soon--I love telling her about the survivors I have "met" on the board who have had that "cocktail." Keep us posted! Kelly
  4. Holy smokes! Your poor toe! I know it cold have been much worse, but that still hurts so much. Hope your aches and pains work themselves out soon. What is this Fall thing you speak of? It is still in the 90s here. Makes watching those soccer games all but unbearable (but don't tell the boy that). Kelly

I wondered what was up with it when all of my students were reading it last year. I have read the first one, but not the second. I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm wondering how it compares to the book? Kelly
  6. Glad you are taking control---we sometimes forget we can do that! I hope everything posts clear for you. Be sure to let us know. Prayers for you. Kelly
  7. Yikes....glad you've got this under control now. I hope it is just a bug. We have a hard time now w/ Mom--everything seems so ominous and cancer-related, when sometimes it isn't. Hope you're back on your feet quickly! Kelly
  8. That is hilarious! I can't wait to show my daughter... Kelly
  9. For sure it would involve camping as a kid. My dad had the foresight to spend as much time with us as possible, even to the point of being put on the 'slow' track for promotions at work. He died when i was 8, so I'm glad he knew what was really important. One time we were camping, and Dad took us to the lake. I was the only one (out of us 3 kids) who had my life jacket with me, so Dad took just me out to the deep water. I guess it was the 'feeling special' part of it that was fun. , Kelly
  10. For in the future we're sure to see, A path full of joy and mystery...
  11. To Kill a Mockingbird Rain of Gold (Victor Villasenor) The Bible But oh, to only have three. How sad that would be. , Kelly
  12. Well, you'd never believe this, based on all of my typos and such, but I'm a writer! I write for profit for a fun satire weekly magazine here in town. It's also for fun, but don't tell the guy who cuts my check! Kelly
  13. Well Don and Lucie, you just hunker down there! My 80-year old aunt has evacuated from near the Galveston area. Thankfully she left Wed. morning, so she avoided the gridlock. She's in Kansas now, so all is well for her. Yesterday a bizzare tornado hit our old neighborhood in MN. All this weather stuff is really creepy. Makes me feel like reading the Bible, if you know what I mean. Prayers out there for all of you dealing with this, in your homes and in your families. Kelly
  14. Braum's peppermint ice cream. Whenever I get 'that look' on my face, my husband says that he "hears the call" of Braums, and will go out and get some for me. On a waffle cone, of course. And if he happens to get something for himself while he's there...all the better. Though that mac & cheese is sounding good. WE need it in the recipe book! Kelly
  15. Isn't it funny how a pic makes it all seem so much more personal? I couldn't figure the thing out, either and had to get some help. Nice to see ya! , Kelly
  16. Humpty Dumpty freaked me out. What was a giant egg doing on top of a wall anyway? I liked the idea of the old woman who lived in a shoe, except she beat her kids. That sounded like a tough life. Old Mother Hubbard had it rough, too. That dog was ALWAYS wanting a bone! Kelly
  17. I seem to do the same thing, which is odd because I am a stress eater. Generally a bad day sends me straight to Braum's for some ice cream (Their commercials go so far as to say, "Braum's makes everything better..."). My friends noted last year that I seemed to be on the 'stress diet'--similiar symptoms--nothing sounded good to me and I would forget to eat. I agree with Bunny, and have learned the same lesson, in that we have to take care of ourselves or we are no good to them. Now I make sure that I eat at every meal time, and still snack, to make sure I keep the strength up. I should go back to the Germany diet--3 weeks there this summer of beer and bread, and I had to buy new pants to fly home in. Ah, but it was worth it! , Kelly
  18. Who would have ever thought that those pesky, mean brothers of our childhood would come to mean so much to us? I wonder if I could go throgh all of the down times w/o mine. Take care of each other and your Mom. Let us know how things ar going. You'll be in my prayers. , Kelly
  19. Wow--I don't have experience with all of that, but welcome to the board! Your mom and dad are so lucky to have you all there helping out. Take care of each other, and let us know how things are going. , Kelly
  20. Are you kidding? THANKS for saying it! I love celebrating with everyone else. Party on! Kelly

Whatta gal! you're such an inspiration for all of us! , Kelly
  22. Excellente! I say you need to have a "significant" celebration. Today is all about the good news. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Kelly
  23. Mom's visit to the Dr. on Friday was a bit disappointing. Her primary tumor is growing, another one has appeared in her lower left lobe. The Dr is concerned about letting this go unchecked. After saying previously that Mom shouldn't do chemo (b/c of her other med. complications), the dr. is now recommending a couple of rounds of Carboplatin and Gemzar. Previously the Tarceva was Mom's only option, and up until now it has held the tumors in check. Mom is worried about the whole quality of life scenario. I know that the chemo will be rough on her, but I hope she will choose to try it. She is so young (just 65), and we aren't done with her yet. I know it has to be her decision, and I do respect that. Mom's spirits are lagging right now. My brothers and I took her out to dinner Friday night, and we had a hoot. My goal right now is to keep things light for her, support her, and let her do what she wants. Please snd out the good vibes her way. Kelly

    TRY THIS ....

Short version of a long story: My dad died when I was 8. One night, as I lay in my bed thinking, I wished he could send me a sign that he was OK. The horn on our car in the driveway went off, by itself. My grandfather was there, and eventually had to disconnect the horn to make it stop. When he came in, I was a bit in awe. I wondered if it really could have been my dad. Then the horn, still unplugged, went off again. Thanks, Dad. Kelly
