  1. Well, had the gamma knife procedure done yesterday to the left temporal lobe of my brain. My lesion had grown from 3mm to the size of a pea but surgeon said it was still small and an 18 minute treatment should do the trick. I had a plastic mesh mask molded to my face. That was a little scary as I couldn’t open my eyes or have much movement with my mouth. I think anxiety got a hold of me for a bit but I made it through. I asked if they were going to sedate me but they said no. Glad it is over and hope that it does fry the lesion. I have a follow up mri in Jan and see the surgeon.

  2. Justin,

They are moving fast with this procedure. I totally understand your anxiety but I know you have got this and have your family and all of us supporting you. I’m sorry that your right side will get worse before getting better. Many prayers are with you.

  3. Hi. I am having gamma knife radiation this coming Monday for a 3mm deposit in my left temporaI lobe of brain. I was told that a side effect could be swelling in my brain occurring days, weeks, months or even years after the fact. Can anyone tell me how to tell if it is happening? Also are there any other side effects I should be aware of? Kind of nervous having this procedure done.

I hope that my outcome is as good as your brother’s has been. He has been on a long journey with this disease and so happy for this positive news.

  5. Hi Richie,

I was diagnosed with Sclc in my upper right lung in November 2021. I had 4 rounds of chemo with carboplatin and etoposide. I also started 30 radiation treatments with the second round of chemo. My scans so far have been shrinkage of the nodules and stability. Hang in there and do stay positive. It is a very scary disease but know that you have friends here who are routing and praying for you.
