    Happy Birthday to me!

Warmest belated Birthday wishes Donna. Faylene
  3. Peggy, Keep the faith. As a respiratory therapist I have seen patients recover from ARDS. We now have treatment protocols for this condition that we didn't have when I first started. Even if Don needs a trach, it doesn't have to be permanent. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Faylene

    That's great news! Faylene
  14. Yes!!! Just wanted to let you all know my Dad is getting re-married today. Nine months after my we lost my Mom he met up with an old friend, and they have been spending time together ever since. He still misses my Mom dearly, but life needs to go on, and he needs to live. Loretta is a lovely lady whom we are very fond of. Strange though, attending the wedding of your father!! It is a beautiful sunny day here! Faylene
  15. I am a Respiratory Therapist, and was caregiver to my Mom. I know how you feel, sometimes too much knowledge is a bad thing. There were a lot of positives to me being involved in my Mom's care though. I always attended appts with my parents, and asked the questions they never thought to ask. When I noticed Mom was dehydrated, I was able to start IV fluids on her at home (with Doc's approval of course) and save her a trips to the ER. I did a lot of research and spoke with alot of my anesthesia collegues and was able to suggest meds to help with nausea and pain, when the normals weren't cutting it. Use all your knowledge and skills in a positive way, but remember to be the spouse too, not just the nurse! Oh yeah, welcome to this great community! Faylene
  16. So Snowflake, which one was your relative? They were all good. Felt sorry for the fellow Canadian who came in late, and forgot the words!! But she was lucky and gets another chance! Faylene
  17. Hi Karen, It was great to see your post. You have been missed. Sounds like you are mega busy......I understand how you feel on the greiving issue, I felt the same way when my Mom died, and helping my Dad kept me busy too. Glad to hear Faith is well, and you have lots of support from friends. Hope everything goes well with your move. Take care. Faylene

  21. My prayers to the whole family. On another note, has your doc tried clonadine in combination with the gabapentin? Our pain clinic anesthetists use it with good success. Something to research and inquire about. Best wishes, Faylene
  22. Wow, that is wonderful news. Hope you took lots of photos! Faylene

    DavidC Update

Hoping Dave is feeling well soon. Hope you had a good Mother's day Karen. Faylene
  25. Andrea, Thanks for thinking of us. Mother's day is the hardest day of the year for me. My Mom passed away three days after Mother's day 2003. That year she gave me a present, earrings..... she said I had been a Mom to her through her journey with cancer. I was honored to be able to give back to her what she had given me. Give your Mom a hug for me and enjoy the day! Faylene
