  11. Hi there. An oxygen level of 85 % is quite low. Did your Doctor increase your mom's oxygen after this and repeat the level. In the hospital, we increase the oxygen until the saturation level is above 90%. How often are her levels checked? faylene

    Celebrex

Nancy, Naproxen is an anti-imflammitory drug, as is Celebrex (and Vioxx), but works in a different manner, so would not have the same effects. Faylene

  18. I happened to catch part of a documentary on a Canadian that had Lung Cancer, Barb Tarbox. She turned her disease and struggle into a crusade to target school aged children about smoking and lung cancer. Thought you might be interested in this web site. http://bookscollective.com/barbs_site/miracle.html She was a very inspirational lady. Faylene

  21. Hi Jamie, The breathing tests are called Pulmonary functions Tests. They are used to test lung capacity, and breathing ability to make sure you can function after surgery without one lung. Essentially you breath thru something that is hooked up to a machine that records measurements. The Respiratory Therapist that tests your Dad will ask him to do certain breathing manuvers (Take a big breath in, blow out hard and fast to empty your lungs, etc). No pain involved! Hope all goes well, Faylene

    One year ago today

Thanks to all of you for being there. For those of you following behind me on this journey, it does get easier. Four days before my Mom's anniversary, it was the 25th anniversary of my brother's death. I remember the extreme grief I felt back then, but can honestly say, most times now I remember the good times, I'm sure it will be the same someday for us remembering our newly lost loved ones. Keep the faith and keep journeying. Love, Faylene

    One year ago today

Well, a year has come and gone. I still find it hard to believe. I miss my Mom so much, but life has to go on. It is in the quiet moments that I feel the most grief (and Mothers day). My Dad had a real hard time of it today. This morning we went to the cemetary to bring flowers. This happens to be my husband's birthday as well, so I only allowed myself the morning to be sad, had to "Cheer up " for the rest of the day. It was only fair to him, last year his birthday was non-existant. I have finally added (With Rick's help!) a post to the wall of memory. I'd love for you all to visit it. Thanks for being there, faylene
  24. Shirley, Congrats on all your efforts. You are right, Sam would be proud. Hope all goes well with your surgery. Opt for the spinal anesthetic, it works well. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Faylene
  25. Ginny, I too am thinking and praying for you. Faylene
