  1. Bill I believe there is a little microphone that you can purchase at a local electronics store (Radio Shack used to carry them near here) The mic attaches to the back of the phone via small suction cup and it transfers the phone voice to tape quite well. Perhaps that would work better? I know my father in law used to have one and he swore by it for recording calls to transfer to meeting minutes when he was a town secretary. Wish I had it now to send on to you. Best of luck with this, Chris
  2. Cindi, Wonderful news!! Congrats! Chris

    Saying goodbye

Dear Kat, My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and your family on the loss of your dad. I am so sorry that you have all of these heavy loads to bear. You have definitely come to the right place for support and hope as far as your mom's battle goes. Please let us know what we can do to help you and her along the way. Sending you prayers for strength and peace of mind as well as sympathy and condolences and love, Chris
  4. Hello Kim and welcome. I am so sorry about your mom, but I am very glad you found this site. Although I cannot offer you much in the way of advice regarding your mom's treatment,I can tell you that there will soon be an outpouring of posts in reply to yours from some of the best people. You will find answers, advice and maybe the most important things, HOPE and SUPPORT. Let us know what you need and we will be here for you. Sending you prayers and many positive thoughts, Chris
  5. Hello Rod and welcome. I am glad you posted and have begun to seek some advice. This board is the best as far as support and answering questions and offering advice. I am not as experienced in this nightmare as some of the others that I know will be along and reply to you, but my first bit of advice is to get another opinion! Your dads oncologist does not sound as if he is really willing to take an aggressive approach. I would definitely have someone else have a look at the results etc and get some additional input. Please keep us posted and let us know what we can do to help you.. Sending prayers and positive thoughts, Chris
  6. I posted this in the Lung Cancer News forum as well, not sure where it really should be.. Sorry if I oops'ed! Chris Hello all, I received a rather interesting pamphlet in the mail today from the Lung Cancer Alliance and thought I should share this. Not sure if you may have already heard about this, but I felt it may be worth mentioning again if that is the case. The Lung Cancer Alliance has joined forces with EmergingMed to match lung cancer patients to clinical trials. There is a section devoted to this on their website; www.lungcanceralliance.org Just a side note..It was through the Lung Cancer Alliance that I found this wonderful site. I am so thankful for that.. I hope this information will be helpful... Best wishes and positive thoughts to all, Chris

  14. I wish I knew.. I lost all the saved messages from Brad and was so heartbroken when I realized they were gone. My best advice would be to maybe play the message into a tape recorder? I wish I had known that my old messages would be deleted after a certain amount of time as I would have tried that myself. Good luck and hugs... Chris
  15. Ok I posted a reply and clicked submit and POOF, it vanished and made me log back in.. Hmmm, computer demons! ANYWAY, Shirley Consider the parking prayers done! lol.. I am sending you more prayers for wonderful news tomorrow and positive thoughts and all that good stuff! Good luck with YOUR appt! Let me know.... Talk soon, Chris PS.. daughter has a download going here so my puter is slowwwwwwwwwwwer than normal.. Out here in the boonies all I can get is dial up which normally is really quite fine, but the downloads tend to wreak havoc with the speed. I WILL do my best to be on aim later though!! C

  19. Judy, I am so very sorry about your husband. There are no words that can begin to ease the pain you have, but please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.. My deepest sympathies and condolences to you and yours, Chris
  20. Hello Lizard. I am so sorry about your mom. I must agree with Shirley and Randy YOU ARE NOT A LOSER! It sounds very much like your mother needs a new dr, one who is willing to take a more aggressive approach to her treatments. Have you tried giving mom Boost or Ensure to get some calories into her? It may help a lot with her overall strength if she can manage to drink some of those type of drinks. As far as crying etc, this is probably one of the biggest emotional rollercoaster rides anyone could ever experience. Cancer effects everyone, the patient, the caregivers, the family and friends. What you have mentioned here sounds pretty normal to me. Please keep us posted and let us know what you need so we can help. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, Chris
  21. justjen I am so sorry about your dad. I am glad that you have found this site though. Being able to talk about your fears and concerns is very important. I wish I could offer you more in the way of suggestions or advice. What the others here have said is great. Randy is right about love never dying. Please remember that. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted as you can. Hugs Chris
  22. Thanks Grace! Enjoy the fireworks!!! And a very happy 4th to both you and Shirley, too! I am so very optimistic about the new oncologist and options!! Chris
  23. Hey Shirley!~ Welcome home and WOWSA!! this is sounding much more positive than before and I am soooooooo glad!!!! I do not know much about the RFA but was reading something about it not too long ago. Sounds promising!!!!! I am just so glad you got a different dr and opinions and OPTIONS!!!!! Saying extra prayers and thinking tons of positive thoughts!!! Chris
  24. Linda, Just adding my prayers to the mix here. You have so much great advice here now that nothing I can add would be much different, but I wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and mom and keep you both in my prayers and positive thoughts, Hugs Chris
