  1. I am so sorry. Have you asked about hospice so that he could come home?

    Scan results today

Tracy, Oh what wonderful news! I am so happy for you--enjoy your vacation.
  3. It's great you're able to get him to eat-- that's a good sign. Rochelle
  4. It's good news that they feel he still has options. I hope the radiation helps knock the cancer back and gives him more time. Keep us posted on how he does.

Bruce, I am so glad to see your post. Congratulations on such wonderful news. Rochelle
  7. On John's birthday we all went to John's favorite place and had lunch. He loved to go to this small place in town that has the best coney islands. So we all went and the kids ate coneys and toasted his birthday. For those of you that don't know what a coney island is, it is a hot dog with a meat sauce on top.
  8. I hope the day went by ok. I know it had to be a hard one.
  9. Nick, you are one lucky guy. What a gorgeous baby.
  10. I'm so sorry. I know a lot of people probably read your post and didn't get what the big deal was about the lake house. I live in our lake house, I bought it from my parents, and I would be heart sick if this house left my family. I hope that one day one of my kids will buy it and it will passed on. Is there anyway all you girls could go in and buy the house from him? I am so sorry for what you're going through.
  11. Sending lots of good thoughts for your dad. I hope it is nothing.
  12. I got a call from Rich tonight that he was on his way to the ER because his platelets were too high. I guess there is a risk of blood clots with them being that high. So, when I know more I will pass it on but for now please send him good thoughts, wishes, and prayers. Hopefully he will be out soon.
  13. We must be having the same type of week -- I have been having anxiety attacks and periods where I am just overwhelmed, then I go to frantic mode. I went to dinner last night with another woman that lost her husband and it helps to talk things out with someone else that is going through the same thing. I find many of my friends just expect that I'm past it and don't realize how hard it is to keep going on. It's good you have a grief group. I just realized reading your post that John's diagnosis date went by and I never thought about it. It would have been his 6th year in June. I used to dread that day and wonder if we'd make it another year, and now I dread holidays and hitting that one year anniversary of his death. Hang in there Terri-- Rochelle

You are one smart business woman Kasey. Free beer for Ry. I'll have a Dos Equis lager with lime-- it's my favorite summer beer. Good to be back at the Pub.

Oh no Flo. I am so so sorry for your loss. He tried so hard. There are many of us that know the pain you are in right now and I hope you will let us help you and support you as you go through this time. My sympathy Flo-- I wish you strength. Rochelle
  16. Hi Hope- As I read your post I was quite impressed with your PCP being on the ball and sending you for a biopsy (or at least thinking he did). You are lucky to have him on your team. Make sure you let him know you weren't happy with the person he referred you to. It's important that your biopsy take place quickly - your PCP may be helpful in getting that moved forward. I hope it's nothing and that you have no need to be here. Keep us posted on how it goes. Welcome - Rochelle
  17. Oh Christine I am so sorry about your friend. My sympathy to you and her family. Rochelle
  18. David- Welcome to our board. I am glad you found us. I know we have members in your area and LUNGevity is based in Chicago so I am sure there are buddies to be found close by. As Muriel says, you're doing something right-- keep it up. Rochelle
  19. Christine, As the official hall monitor I will approve a leave of absence but then you have to check in and let us know how you and your mom are doing. Believe me when I tell you that as the two of you begin to work through this loss it will be important to talk with others that know what you are going through. So I expect to see you back soon. Now, as to the other, like any family we have our wackos, crazy uncles, and big mouths-- don't let it get to you. There are people here that need you as much as you need them. Rochelle
  20. I am so very sorry for your loss. Don't look back and wonder what you could have done differently-- you did your best. My sympathy. Rochelle
  21. Bruce- Whenever a new person comes here that has SCLC-- I always direct them to the sticky post in the small cell forum titled something like "how I beat small cell lung cancer"-- lots of good information. Copy it and send it on to him. Rochelle
  22. Rich should be released tomorrow on the 4th-- Keep your fingers crossed.
  23. Sandra- Alimta was pretty hard on John. He had the same experience. It got so bad towards the end that he had to ask the onc for a break before he could do the last one. The good news-- he got results with it -- I hope you do too!
  24. I would much rather paint a picture. I hate having my picture taken and I am not the best photographer either.
