  12. Vanessa, sorry I can't be of any help with the Iressa questions, but I'm glad your mom is seeing the Dr......I've been told to always call my onc if i have a temp of 100.5 or higher....... I'm hoping all is well, keep us posted Mary
  13. Hi Beth, wow, girl.....you have been thru the mill and back again, it seems......I'm just putting my 2 cents in re: the silent migraines....I totally believe in the stress factor. I haven't had one in a while (now watch, I jinxed myself!)......but when I did, I'd try to find a quiet, dark place and lie down with a cold cloth over my eyes....15-20 minutes usually did the trick. I'm hoping you have much better luck with your chemo this time around....sending plenty of good thoughts your way Mary
  14. Lisa, Best wishes for Ahmed, that he continues to improve and will be home again shortly....keep us posted Mary
  15. Debs, Deruo and Kel..... So glad to hear your respective moms are doing well!! It is a long road, and chemo can knock the cr*p out of you, but the results are well worth it!! I think with all the new combo's of chemo being given, and new parameters for radiation, etc., we will be seeing longer and longer survival rates...There are quite a few on this board who are years out from initial dx....I hope I will find myself in that category, and I'm wishing the same for your moms! Andrewsmom.......you're an inspiration......wtg!! Mary
  16. Hi Shar, Can understand how scary this is for you. Can't offer much help, but i do know that irenotecan is widely used for SCLC with excellent results.....have no clue on the combo with Taxol, though..... Wishing you the best, Mary

  20. Reminds me of a couple of weeks ago (after my onc appt that placed my disease as "stable").....I told my mother I was going to Foxwoods (casino) for the day with my husband.......she said, "oh great, you really need a day to yourself......have fun and really let your hair down!".......I said, "Ma, what hair?" Dead silence on the other end of the phone......til I started laughing, then she laughed and we ended the conversation in tears, still laughing. Gotta take it one day at a time, one strand of hair at a time......... Mary

  23. Melanie, By all means, call your doc....this is what pain meds were made for.....real pain! You need to be able to control the pain so you can get back with your activities of daily living....taken in moderation, and according to direction, pain meds are safe to use without fear of addiction. You need to control that pain, and not let it control you! Glad the tube's out!! Mary
  24. Excellent news, Lisa, for you and Ahmed. Let's hope Iressa continues to kick butt!! Mary
  25. WTG Cheryl!! Supervise their little behinds to he** and back!! Seems to me your boss had no idea what a can of worms he was opening!! As far as the flame throwing tank, when my son comes home on leave in a few weeks, I'll see if he can bring one home with him Keep up the good fight........ Mary
