Angie Daughter of Bill
Good morning everyone! I am brand new to this site........just stumbled upon it a few minutes ago. I am here as a caregiver and daughter of a man who will most likely be diagnosed with lung cancer very soon. We have an x-ray report that shows a 4 1/2cm parenchymal mass that is typical for primary neoplasm. The x-ray also shows enlargement of lymph nodes in the area. Our primary care physician told us this yesterday, sent him for a CT scan, and set up an appointment with a pulmonary specialist for today and with a hemotologist/oncologist for next week. We will stop by and the CT scan and report on the way to his appointment today. Things are happening very fast............I can't seem to catch my breath. I am 32 years old, married with 2 beautiful girls............but I am still my Daddy's little girl. Lord help us and be with us!!! Those of you who pray and believe in God's healing power, please say a prayer for Billy in Alabama!!

john
Sorry you are here. But this board is offers alot of support. Below is a list of NCI designated cancer centers. Make sure you find the best doctors. Also if your dad is interested in clinical trials, look into them before treatment, because treatment may limit what trials he is eligible for. http://www3.cancer.gov/cancercenters/ce ... st.html#L1

DeanCarl
Angie, I am so sorry you had to seek us out, but very glad you "stumbled" on to this site. There is so much good information and support here. The "diagnostic phase" of this disease can be a real rollercoaster ride emotionally. But an acurate diagnosis is esential to making the right decisions for what comes next for your Dad. Hang in there and try to stay focused on what his doctors are saying. Ask questions. And when your done asking questions ... ask MORE questions. And when you get the answers, check them out with someone. No matter what you Dad's final diagnosis is, no matter what the treatment options turn out to be, SOMEBODY here has gone through exactly the same thing and will have more information and support for you. David P
Hey Angie. Welcome. One of the best ways to deal with this as a caregiver is to be prepared and be well informed. If your dad has lung cancer, be ready for a rough ride, but the knowledgable, caring people on this message board can help smooth out some of those bigger bumps you will run in to. Make this bunch work! You can't ask too many questions. A great place to start would be in the caregivers forum; they have experienced what you can only speculate about. Take care, and I hope all works out for the best. David P.

Peace, Margaret

TBone
I,too, stumbled across this site while looking for more information and I am so glad that I found it.I am brand new too and because of the love, support and prayers of these people I have found some peace to fall back on when all this waiting and all these questions arise.Things happened like a whirlwind after my diagnosis on 12/24.I am taking radiation treatments for mets to the brain and would not have thought that possible 2 weeks ago.It takes an aggressive stance and a positive attitude to get things moving.Sounds like you have a good plan to start with.I am in Georgia and praying hard for you and Dad.Keep posting.TBone
