  1. "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
  2. Lucie is on MSContin, which I think is a relative of Oxycontin.. It is slow release morphine. At present, she is on 30mg twice a day, but she has been on higher doses in the past, depending on her need. She also has Norco, a breakthrough pain med she can take in between if she needs. She does not use that much at present. Don

  4. Actually, it works by light instead of a ball.

    I love Lucie

Well, gee garsh! Thanks for your kind words. Thanks all for your nice tribute to Lucie -- you know I am her greatest fan.
  8. Angie, prayers for you and your dad. Suggestion: Get a small tape recorder to go with your cell phone. Don't need a pen then. Don
  9. Thanks for the update. Hang in there. Don
  10. Way to go, Alex! Hang in there, Joni. Don
  11. The side effects, including nausea, are linked to the individual's tolerance of the treatment and not the effectiveness. Radiation cannot be given in the same area again, but it can be given in an area that has not received radiation. Don
  12. My wife took Zometa for about a year and then was switched to Aredia, which does the same thing -- builds bone and helps prevent further bone mets. She has been on that for about six months. I see that oncodoc answered what I was surmising, and that is: the alkaline phosphatase might go up because of bone repair (activity). I know that the PSA for prostate cancer will go up if anything stimulates or attacks the prostate, having nothing to do with the tumor. Not to worry. Don
  13. Hi, Melanie! Yep, your scenario is pretty normal. Lucie had a similar combination of chemo and it made her very sick, very tired. She got practically every side effect listed during the course of the chemo. BUT, it nailed that suckeroo! Loss of appetite is quite common, but you need to drink plenty of liquids and get proper nourishment nevertheless, so you can fight the beast. We found that meal snacks every two hours does better than three squares that you normally do. More apt to eat, and keeps something on the stomach to minimize nausea. Good lucik! Don
  14. Fay, I am so happy to hear the good news!
  15. Lisa, so sorry both of you are having to go through all this. I'm glad you took the opportunity to vent. You have my good wishes for the future. Don
  16. Angie, you are good support for your dad. The docs are probably more thorough about the pelvis because it could stress fracture, especially if there is a tumor there. Lucie had a bone met on her pelvis and it did cause a stress fracture. Luckily, it did not impair her while the radiation took care of the tumor and the fracture healed. Prayers as requested. Don
