  1. Welcome Donna: Like you, I felt as if my life was over the day they told me I had LC. Then my instinct of self-survival kicked in. I told my son that I wasn't going to lie down for this disease. Also dx'd as III-B, and inoperable, I went through the chemo and radiation. I never missed a day at work, although it felt like I was dragging a couple of hundred pounds of dead weight. My energy started returning once chemo was finished. The treatments knocked the cancer out of the lympth node and has stablized the lung tumor. Bottom line ... my life is not over; it's just changed. I've gotten a tremendous amount of hope from the experiences of everyone on this web site. I pray you do too.

My prayers and sincerest condolences to you and your family.
  3. Beth: Hoping for a successful surgery, a speedy recovery, and total cessation of all your pain.
  4. Praying for Brian's rest to recovery and increasing optimism. I like your attitude, Brian, and knowing that you're optimistic helps me. Thank you.
  5. Praying for a successful surgery. And a rapid recovery
  6. TAnn: Praying that the Altima works. Incidently, I experienced back pain with my pleural efflusion. Keep those fightin' gloves on!
  7. Salute!! A toast to you and your lovely bride on this joyful day. Here's to many more.
  8. My prayers are with you both. And I pray your onc. is guided in the right direction for Brian's treatment. I don't know if another opinion is possible, but sometimes our doctors are wrong in their observations and guesstimates. I recently switched oncs. I'm sure my 1st one was competent; I just didn't feel like he was paying close attention to my case. Hoping Brian gets through this in good shape.
  9. Joanie: Welcome back. And congratulations on the the good check-up.

    mike died

Nancy: Please accept my condolences. My prayers are with you and your family.
  11. Welcome mch. Hope all goes okay with your consultation and diagnosis. As for insurance, I was kinda in the same situation. I had left my employer for another company that provided no insurance. So I took my insurance with me via COBRA. 6 months later I was in the ER being told I had lung cancer. So you can be insured, if you leave. Hope this helps.

    Bad Day

Beth: Hopes and prayers that today is much better! As Connie said, " this too will pass. " May all go well with your chemo and onc. visit today.
  13. Di: Congratulations on your year. And prayers for many, many more.
  14. Cindi: My prayers are with you for your procedure tomorrow. and, NO METS, NO METS, NO METS!!!
  15. Val: Check with your local Social Security office into having your mom qualify for Social Security Disability. I think Medicare comes with that, I'm not sure, though. Prayers are with you and your family that all goes well.
  16. Great news, Connie! Thank you for posting. I want every bit of hope that your post gives me. Thank you again.
  17. Beth: I got my portacath installed while I was in the hospital; right after my dx. I seldom even think about it. The only thing they told me was to get it 'flushed' every 30 days. My 1st onc said that wasn't necessary, but I think he was a moron. I've had 2 CT scans since dx. The 1st one the tech used the port. The 2nd scan the tech said they're not supposed to use the port for the IV. I'm sure glad it's there as my veins are sometimes very hard to find for those needle sticking, blood sucking vampires.
  18. Hi Frank: Well, that explains it. For the last couple of days I've seen a bunch of fat ladies ... singing by the way ... heading south on I-95. By my reckoning, they are all hanging out on South Beach by now. I like the playing golf while shooting at turkeys; or is that shooting birdies? Thank you for posting. I always enjoy reading your posts and admire your attitude. Thank you for putting 'quality' into life.
  19. Welcome Michael: You'll find lots of supportive, kind, and knowledgable people here. While none of us just happened to trip in here by mistake, I know for myself, that it was a blessed day when I did find this site. My best wishes and prayers are with you and yours.
  20. I'm all for blueberries. They taste a whole lot better than wheatgrass (yech) ; but a friend of a friend swears that drinking an oz. of wheatgrass juice cured her ovarian cancer. I drink 2 scoops of this green powder every day in my OJ. It has everything in it including the kitchen sink. I just looked ... no blueberries
  21. Happy Birthday Joanie!!! Hope you're having a wonderful day! The Stones in '65??? What's a 12 yr old doing at the Apollo Theatre? I had to wait until 14 to go to my 1st concert. But it was the Beatles. Sigh..... time sure goes by, doesn't it? Incidently, 52 was a great year for me. As it will be for you. Oliver

    OXYGEN ???

Cindi: I can definitely relate to the huffin' and puffin' up stairs. I just have to go pretty slow if I want to have enough breath to talk to anyone once I've reached the top. I don't know if a couple of hits of O2 would be that bad or not. I do see football players on the sidelines puffin' on the O2 when they're winded. Maybe its a mix of air with more O2 in it. Here's hoping all goes well. Oliver
  23. My prayers are with the both of you.
  24. I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome and for helping me feel 'a part of' .
