  1. Hey Lou. Glad you are still here!

I will get it checked out for sure. But I am always trying to stay ahead and avoid surprises. I've also lost a ton of weight since January and not trying. Sporatic (very) vomiting with no nausea and several other "weird" symptoms that have been bothering me for many months. Have discussed this with my docs (all brand new) who are not concerned. In many ways I feel like I am starting over totally with my providers.

This lump does concern me but my August scan was deemed NED. Unfortunately neither my onc or primary felt qualified to review my scan in detail. They relied on the impression which was stable. But now I have something a bit more concrete for my Onc to consider

Not terribly concerned yet. Most likely they will advise monitoring it to see if it changes. Probably feeling something normal that was hidden under all that fat I shed!

    Enjoy the Holidays

    Peace

    Tom

  2. Hey Blossom. You probably do not remember me but I remember you.

So sorry you have to go thru this. Your posts bring back so many memories of how I felt at the beginning.

Hope for the best. If I remember correctly you advocated for your mother. Remember that in the end you are your own best advocate. Having done caretaking for my brother and then going thru it myself, I can attest that the patient side is a totally different experience.

Good luck. I shall be watching and thinking of you.

  3. Hi everyone. Hopefully some remember me. Sorry I dropped off the forum. Many excuses. None good enough.

Quick update. I have been NED for almost 4 years now. Have had some complications but overall ok. As a reminder. Stage 3A Large cell. Had the RLL removed, Chemo and radiation. Also had a PE in left lung long after treatment.

Just noticed a good size lump jus below my Sternum. Middle. Have done some research and I think it may be related to the LC. Curious if any of y'all have ever experienced or heard of something like this?

Missed you guys. I hope all are doing well.

Thanks for the update. Please think hard before doing adjunctive radiation. My oncologist was 50/50 on the benefit. I choose to go ahead because Large Cell is more prone to metastasis than most LC's and I wanted to do as much as possible to clear the body of any cancer cells.

I now wish I had skipped that treatment. Radiation was much tougher on me than Chemo was (the fatigue was really bad). But the main reason is it messed up my esophagus. This is really not surprising and is a rather common result. I am starting to think it may never be "right" again. On the other hand I have been NED now for 18 months.

Wishing you the best regardless of which path you choose.

    Peace

    Hey all.

My new strategy is still working wonders for the pain. Still trying to get script upsized a bit. My wife is going to call my onc to explain the vast difference.

But the biggest update I have is I am now 1/2 owner of a smallish pub. It's on a River and an awesome location. Spent the last couple of days painting. Man.. I am out of shape! In a bit of pain today but it's the good kind. Tiny muscles that haven't been used much in 18 months! But it's a good pain!

Swing by sometime. Lungevity.org members get a free beer and lunch!

I put this in the wrong string. Is there a way to move it? Sorry Ale...not trying to co-opt your story.

  7. Welcome. First off...love your tag name. Follow your own advice and be hopeful.

SCLC (if that is what he has) is a tough one. But treatment options are growing almost daily (it seems). We have a member who is currently involved with a pretty radical trial. Best part is the trials focus is a curative outcome...i.e. killing the cancer for good. She is a rock star and I'm sure you will hear from her.

As for surviving precision radiation..you have heard from another one of our rock stars....Tom G. Tho he didnt mention it specifically on his post, he has many times given credit to his success to precision radiation. To the point that I would almost rather get a brain met as a recurrence versus other likely places.

    Keep the hope.

    Peace

  8. Welcome....with your feet running!

So you've got 5 days to get prepped. Nothing to it (truely).

You must have questions so ask. If too shy for that maybe Lue or Lexie or Tom or Rower..or....could attach a few links. (I havent figured out how from my phone. Someone will get you the pre surgery checklist as well as some tips to make it all go smoothly.

Here's to a one and done surgery!

@Judy M2 my neurosurgeon doesn’t want manipulation of my neck so no physical therapy.

My second infusion has so far been smooth but of course life has to hit me in all the ways it can. My gf of 1 year and half decided it was best to leave me and end our relationship. Ive been destroyed the last 2 days and haven’t ate much at all. This all just feels like a big nightmare..

So sorry to hear that. What to say? I would be crushed (not what you probably need to hear right now..but the truth)

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Focus on your health if you can.

    Peace

I love to travel and fly, but concerned also about flying now.
    Will check with my doctor.
