  1. Barbara ... last year when I was smack dab in the middle of my treatments with chemo and radiation I heard from basically none of the folks I had worked with and I had been with that company for almost 30 years. I did remain close to a couple but the company was really spread out location wise. Anyway, I finally heard that a rumor had been started that I was bedridden and had two people staying with me that would not allow me to receive phone calls. The truth was I was still living alone and taking myself to all my radiation and chemo appointment by myself. This may not be happening in your case but it does show you some of the things that can happen.
  2. Prayers for all Laurie. Glad you checked on the drug with the radiation. Sometimes I realize why they call it a medical "practice".
  3. Muriel never fear ... nothing enters this house that does not immediately get neutered. Hmmmm perhaps that is why I am single!!!! Hunter also loves one and all (both human and animal) is not aggressive at all unless I put him on a leash and he is between me and whomever is brave enough to approach. I think he becomes possessive. I have seen him tuck tail and run from a tiny little Yorkie. I think we are going to have a wonderful time.
  4. I did when it first started in Oklahoma. I am more hooked on the casino and setting at a slot machine and mindlessly losing my money. ROFL
  5. WOOHOO!!! If I can bring my main man "Hunter" who happens to be four legged then count me in as half way there. I think the dogs will have almost as much fun as the folks. Please be aware that my dog loves the taste of wine and my sissy drinks and he also has a very very very LONG tongue.
  6. Nina I was so glad to see this message this morning. Hope you can figure out what has had you feeling bad. Have a blessed day.
  7. I have a neighbor that is a dear dear lady and a fairly good friend but just does not get it if you know what I mean. She keeps remarking about how amazing I am and that I made the treatments I "breezed" through the chemo and radiation like it was a piece of cake. I just smile and tell her was by far not the easiest of things I have done in my life. ROFLMAO
  8. I still love my little sissy drinks especially in the summer when it is so hot. So I will bring lots and lots of pre-mix, bagged or bottled, slushy, icy, and cool Pina Colada's, Strawberry Daquiris, and Margarita's. I may have steal one of Katie's good Bloody Marys if the bar opens before noon.
  9. Glad you found this site, the folks are wonderful. I think Randy posted just about every possible question you could ask a doctor. Before you ask some of those questions please make sure you understand just how much information your dad wants to hear. I am half ostrich ... I knew I had inoperable adneocarcinoma non-small cell lung cancer and that was that. I did NOT want to know the stage, prognosis, or much else. It is what it is and as long as my doctor is willing to try and beat the beast with whatever method they can and I am willing to fight the fight then that was all I needed to know. It sounds like they caught your dads cancer early and that is great. Best of luck and remember to keep us informed and take care of yourself as well as your father.
  10. Nushka ... checking in to see good news regarding your scan results. I pray for you that all will be good.
  11. The only thing I do NOT like about my port is the fact that I do have to go have it flushed out every 6 weeks. It means a trip to town that I would not normally have to make but my Oncologist likes to leave them in for a couple of years. I am one year out from treatment and will go in this morning for a port flush, blood work and to see the Doc. They did manage to collapse my lung when they put the port in but since then no problems with it. They also do not use mine when injecting the dye for scans.
  12. Welcome Chelee. Randy W is right this is a wonderful site for information and support from others that are certainly not strangers to Lung Cancer. Randy happens to be one of the "angels" that does research and helps each and every person that comes on board and has a question he can deal with. He also does a GREAT job of hosting a chat group on Tuesday evenings. Drop by and chat with us sometime. Prayes for your mom and your family and best of luck. Judy P.S. Let's all hope Randy does not see this post his head will get so big he will not be able to get through a door.
  13. COMPUTE YOUR AGE BY HOW OFTEN YOU EAT OUT Don't tell me your age; you probably would tell a falsehood anyway- but your waiter may know! YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH This is pretty neat. DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute . Work this out as you read ... Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun. 1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat. (more than once but less than 10) 2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold) 3. Add 5 4. Multiply it by 50 5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1757 .... If you haven't, add 1756. 6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born. You should have a three digit number The first digit of this was your original number ( How many times you want to go out to restaurants in a week.) The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!) THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2007) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS
  14. Nushka a special prayer for you this morning as you go to get your PET scan. Expect good things!!
  15. Nina the 30th is the same day I will get the results of my PET scan. I will be praying for you as well as for myself and all other cancer survivors receiving results that day.
  16. Welcome LeAnn from one Okie to another. I was born and raised in Tulsa and currently live just west a bit out by Lake Keystone. I do not have SCLC, I have NSCLC. All the statitics you find on the internet, in my opinion, are outdated and please remember that not a single one of us is a number but a living breathing person that can be very determined to beat ALL the odds. If your Uncle can maintain an upbeat attitude and a good sense of humor it will all go far towards his healing. It is great that they caught it early and could do surgery. The fact that he is otherwise very healthy should give him a leg up on fighting the disease. Again, welcome and God bless.
  17. Hi Michelle and welcome. Tell your dad about the site and perhaps he would come post or chat with some of us. I had the carbo/taxol with concurrent radiation and the main side effect was tiredness and I needed a lot more sleep than usual. I also experienced some horrendous burns to the skin from the radiation but they have long since healed. I stayed alone throughout my treatments and did fine. Do what Dad wants you to do and visit here and ask questions as needed.

    News about Bill

Teri with tears streaming down my face and broken heart I want only peace for you and your family at this time. Know you are thought of often and prayed for a lot.
  19. Cindy, you are amazing. You have gone through so much with the hospice situation and it is hard to read about it let alone experience it. I now know things I will tell the folks that will at some point in my life become my caretakers. Because of you sharing a very personal part of your husbands passing some folks will be more enlightened. My prayers are with you for comfort and peace during your time of grief.
  20. Aaron you have the plus of youth and otherwise good health on your side and think you should fight it and do anything you can get a good doctor to agree to that might get rid of the beast. Best of luck and prayers for you.
  21. That is super news ............. Have fun in California.
  22. I agree with Randy and hope you already have mom at the Emergency Room. This could be nothing but anxiety but it could also be a collapsed lung or something of that nature. I have had both and though neither is fun the anxiety is easier to treat and deal with. Please let us know what you find out. Prayers are being said for you and your mom.
  23. Hi Linda I am obviously a couple of days late with a welcome but better late than never. I hope you post soon with biopsy results. I think I also leant towards the "non educated deliquent" as NED. LOL
  24. Valadi welcome and you have found a great place to share with folks that truly care. I have a group of friends and some family members that prefer to ignore the "big stinky elephant" that is setting in the corner of the room. I can come to this message board or better yet drop into chat on a Tuesday evening and the people truly do understand. They tell me they be having a "Survivor" chat group which I think would be phenomenal. Stick around and keep us advised on your type of cancer, progress, etc.
  25. Sue tell your mom to hang in there. Prayers are being said for us all.
