  5. Garlic gal here, I also add fresh lemon to most of my meals and salads, nice little zip with some vit. C too! Mary
  6. Manifest~ I am yet another of the many IIIB'ers, "inoperable" and living fine . This site got me there. Do get yourself a binder/ calander, to help time line your events. Ask always for copies of your tests, it's impossible sometimes to absorb test results at the inital information. Comparing my scan from 6/07 and then in 1/08, gave me strength. We are all here always and because of the time zones, someone is pretty much always on line. Please keep us posted. Sending you and your family and friends tons of positive energy! Mary
  7. Randy~ Keep the sharing commming, you teach all of us everyday and I appreciate you, and I know Deb does too. Mary~
  8. Donna~ I will tune in, great concept. I find myself, missing my (friends ) when I am down in the dumps. Mary~
  9. Kim~ Remember, I too was "on the table" when they said surgery was no longer an option. You lose it, then you press on! See my Happy Dance Post, 6 mo. later I am in remission! Pleaseeeeeeee send Kelly my best and I hope she can get home soon to get back here so we can tell her how proud we are of her. PS you too! Mary~
  10. I'm woundering why radiation is not part of this protocol. Maybe waiting till some spots calm down? or disappear? I was told surgery was not an option after I was already on the table! They found to many Mets. PS 6 months later, I am in full remission! Sending prayers your way. Stay in touch. Mary
  11. Hi All~ Fired up, just dosn't say it all . When people ask did I smoke, I try to put a twist on it, I answer yes.....and your point is? kind of tone. Could you imagine if you asked a real fat person on oxygen ,who has hardning of the arteries, Did you geat a lot of big macs? I mean really. Lets band together tightly, and press on with education for comfort and cure. Mary
  12. Miri~ Glad to hear your still in the fight. Stay in touch, let me know if you are headed to NY. Mary
  13. Lily~ Sending prayers for Angela and your son,for an uncomplicated swift recovery. Mary
  14. Miri~ I am being treated at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. I believe you are looking for Thoracic Service/ Dept. of Surgery.I had Dr. Nabil P. Rizk ( pronounced Risk) imagine I got the "risk dr"!He is great, puts it right on the line and they are all so professional. The cab ride in Manhattan was the most fun I had that day I admitt. You can go online and read up on all the Drs @ MSKCC. Dr . Rizks office is 1275 York Ave. NY, NY #212-639-8357. I hope this helps. Please feel free anytime to PM or just ask away here on the board. Keep in touch, let us know you are OK. Mary
  15. Tina~ My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this season of greif. Cancer sucks. Mary
  16. Bryan~ The navelbine so far worked for me,it was labeled velban here but Im pretty sure the drug has the same properties, with not to many side effects. It's the cisplatin that gets ya. I'm rooting for your dad and for the Drs there to get their heads out of the sand. Check w/ Dr. West he is truly a gem. Mary

    Proton Therapy?

Same here, I dont know much at all about proton therapy. My husband had IMRT to his prostate, followed by seeds 2 yrs. ago and he is basically OK. He handled the radiation w/out a hitch. I had the IMRT 36 doses and my lung function is good. The side effects for me were short term. I am curious and I will keep following. Mary
  18. Poogie~ I was hoping by now you'd get a chance to check in with us and accept our prayers for your entire family. We are sending them, that comfort and understanding will guide you during this terrible time if your lifes. Mary

    wine

Hello All~ I was just on then my PC went on a hall pass for a min. next thing I could not get back to "topics since I last visited". I wanted to put my 2 cents in on the topic wine. I say drink up now! I found as my radiation went on about week 2-3, I could no longer tolerate wine, it irritated my throat . That is the only reason my Dr. said they advise against any alchol= irritation.) I stayed on my xanax (thank the lord for the team that invented that medication) but I longed often for my glass of red wine. Back on wine and doing fine . Mary
  20. I never really questioned it, It was explained to me I am a IIIB, because my r/ lung has nodule and lymph are on both sides of medistienum. The both sides are what made me a "B". I bought it. Mary
  21. Great to hear from Don and Rich, I recall Don's recent post, he visited g/ kids but will hold the fort on his own for now, proud of both u guys! Mary
  22. I never need a test like that to show my true colors. I order from a catalog and they ask address? I give them my street name and they say, "and where in NY is that?" I respond, how did you know I'm in NY, they just laugh. Hummmmmmmmm True story, 30 yrs. ago I was working in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. an EMT comes into the ER and asks , "are you Marry?" I sais no, and smiled , he frowned and walked away. Turns out he wanted to know if I was Mary, and wanted to ask me out:(. Yet another one that got away!! Great fun, Mary
  23. Nikky~ Go job, you all made it through . Next? Dont sit and wait, celebrate! As Ned mentioned, profiles are a great tool. My Dr. told me back in June the 1st "scan" post Tx will have sludge and residue, he does not really taks a lot of stock in that one. It takes time for the body to readjust after "returning from war". Tell your dad, to listen to his body, it wont lie to him. Take it easy, In the words of Jimmy Buffetts new CD... breath in breath out and move on! Please keep us posted. Mary
  24. Cynthia~ You mentioned your Mom has a neighbor she shares her medical conditions with. Could it be ( I'm just throwing this out there) she considers this gal a BFF? Can you keep in touch w/ her local friends in her community? Her roots are probbaly there I suspect. It's a tough spot to be in I'll give you that. keep posting please to let us know how you are doing. Mary
  25. Marci~ You go girl! You stop by here anytime you need to. I find I have bursts of excess too, just trying to get my "ducks in a row", usually I'm trying to get some one elses ducks in a row is the truth. Caregivers in general suffer a stress level of high intensity, please dont ignore or poo-pa your role and the toll it is taking on you. Take Xanax, it's a great med and will drop the audio level pitch to your aunts b_itch, down a few notches. Sounds like she has a few ducks she needs to get in a row and is passing that guilt? on to you. Stay strong, visit often. Mary
